All the elements of the story tie in really well, and i love the sci-fi vibe the author encapsulated. However, the pacing did feel a little off, too fast for what the action actually was.
All in all it was a relaxing book to read, and the story and characters are both really enjoyable.

I am writing this review for Net Galley.

This story was very hard to follow because the of the formatting of the book in the kindle app. When I would go back into the book to read it, even bookmarked I would lose my place and have to remember where I left off. So I will try to review this book as best as I can.

In this story we follow a young girl named Ember who one day opens a book that takes her into a different world with magic and dragons etc. Ember never really got along with her father. One day when she returned from her magical world she found out she was pregnant and doesn't know how she got pregnant. So her father immediately thought she was into drugs and things in her life went down hill for awhile. Then she attended college and by that time her daughter was 8 years old.

I rated this a 3 because the story seemed fast paced to me. Even though the formatting made it difficult to read I could pinpoint kind of what was happening. I would have liked to have seen Ember in the magical world more at a young age. If you like to read stories that is a book within a book than you will like this story.

I really enjoyed reading this, it was a great young adult scifi novel. The scifi elements were what I wanted from the genre, I was invested in what was happening and really enjoyed the journey. The characters were interesting and worked in the story and world. I enjoyed the way Sara Gibson wrote this and look forward to more from Ms. Gibson.

"“I live in the Enchanted City, capital of the Land of Enchantment. I personally prefer the Enchanted City to the scene in Atlantis. Atlantis has a dismal underground holding facility for humans who end up there. The poor creatures are captured and kept there to preserve the secret of the city."
