This was my first time reading a book by Katy Brent, and I really enjoyed her writing style. She brings a fresh and engaging voice to the page that had me hooked from the beginning.
The storyline is quirky and unconventional, filled with dark humour. It’s not your typical thriller – more of a light-hearted romp with a murderous twist. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it an easy and entertaining read.

How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by Katy Brent is a sharp-edged, darkly funny romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously and neither should you. It follows Kitty Collins, an influencer with a perfectly curated life... and a growing habit of killing the worst kinds of men. Yes, really.
The tone is pure sass and chaos, with enough murder, social satire, and millennial commentary to keep things moving at pace. Kitty is the kind of anti-heroine you don’t want to root for but somehow end up liking anyway. Brent writes with a breezy, tongue-in-cheek style that makes even the goriest moments weirdly entertaining.
That said, it sometimes skims the surface. The satire hits, but not always with the sharpness it aims for, and a few plot turns require a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief. It flirts with bigger themes misogyny, privilege, the performance of online life but never fully commits to unpacking them.
Still, if you’re after a fast-paced, deliciously twisted read with serious don’t mess with me energy, this delivers. It’s bold, cheeky, and a little bit unhinged in the best way. Perfect for fans of dark humour, morally grey women, and stories that don’t play by the rules.

Kitty Collins - I love you!
This gave me throwbacks to How to Kill Your Family, but way better! I love Kitty Collins. Should I be admitting that I admire a serial killer?! 🤣 She's like Dexter - which reminds me, I need to catch up with that series soon!
I laughed, I cringed, and I held my head in my hands as the darkness overtook Kitty as she continued to remove those lecherous men from society. She had a pretty nifty way of disposing of the bodies, that was a cool addition to the plot, a bit mafia-esque.
I'm not sure Kitty actually likes her job as an influencer, she seems to put up with it because it's earning her money and paying her rent, but her role as a serial killer is what she's actually enjoying!
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for the opportunity to read and review How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by Katy Brent.

This is the first book in a series about Kitty, a serial killer that you will find yourself cheering for! These books are so twisted but so hilarious simultaneously. I really enjoyed the twist on your typical thriller, as these are written from Kitty's POV, so we know who did it! It's more of a will they find out....
I actually ended up listening to both books on audio and highly recommend!
Thanks Netgalley, the publishers and Katy Brent for the advanced copy.

Ok but for real, I kept thinking. Wouldn’t this make a great movie! We need more of kitty! I couldn’t put it down and was sad to see it come to a close.

A wickedly dark, feminist thriller about a serial killer you’ll weirdly root for. It’s sharp, satirical, and very entertaining, though definitely not for the faint of heart. A bloody good time if you like your thrillers dark and funny

This one didn't work for me. I struggled with the graphic murders, and didn't love the plot. The cover led me to believe it be a bit more whimsical.

This book does EXACTLY what it says on the tin and I devoured it. I couldn't stop reading this book - it seemed ridiculous in parts but that did not detract from the message of how (some) men treat women and the fear that comes with that. Kitty is a fantastic protagonist and I was rooting for her the whole time, even though I would never have expected to condone such actions. Laugh out loud funny at times and also eerily familiar, this one is a fab read.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
“I want to live in a world where I don’t have to keep my keys between my fingers in case I’m attacked walking home.”
How to Kill Men and Get Away With It was so much fun to read. In this, you will meet Kitty Collins. Now she is basically the female version of Dexter and definitely one you shouldn't mess with. She is known for being a popular influencer but knows how to handle herself and others when it comes to monsters who abuse people. Sure, it may have been an accident when she first went down this path, but details.
Karma is Kitty Collins.
Well, the kitten is out of the bag because now she has a stalker to deal with. On top of that, her friends think she is depressed based on past relationships that ended on a sour note. So, when she meets a charming guy... well, she isn't quite sure how to handle him. There's only one way to find out if she can trust him or not, I guess.
Long story short, I absolutely enjoyed this one. Kitty was a delight, and I loved all the twists throughout this. I can't wait for the sequel to come out because I need more! More revenge, sass, and murder.

This book is brilliant. It's like a mix between Made In Chelsea and Dexter.
Kitty Collins is a London-based influencer who spends her time around other influencers from a wealthy background. Her life involves being invited to events and promoting things online.
Oh, and she also kills men. Certain ones. She has rules and will only kill those who truly deserve it, mostly men who have raped or sexually assaulted women.
Right from the start I was drawn in by the humour of this book and I just flew through it. It was super entertaining and although it's funny, it tackles a serious topic too. One that all women feel strongly each and every day.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of dark humour!

I loved this book, despite not being a fan of "Dexter"-type stories. In "How to Kill Men and Get Away With It," author Katy Brent lifts the curtain on the world of influencers... and how much they can get away with. I loved how the main character Kitty Collins was written in a way that made her seem relatable even though I couldn't have less in common with her, like she could easily slip into anyone's friend group. There is a bit more gore than in a cozy mystery, but what do you expect from something that promises a serial killer in the title? Loved the book!

I was really excited about the concept of having a female Dexter, however I just couldn't seem to get into this one - I'm really hoping I can revisit it at a later time and appreciate it for what I'm sure is an incredible book.

I couldn't read this as an ebook for some reason so will get it when it comes out! Sorry! (Leaving a 4 star review to be fair.)

This book had it all, murder, mystery, love, hate and a stalker. This book is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and dark comedies, offering a unique and refreshing take on the genre. It keeps readers hooked with a blend of suspense and a sly sense of humor until the very last page.

I like this book but I don't think it is the type of story that our library patrons would identify with. It's a little edgy.

I devoured this book, it was so addictive. It had it all, murder, mystery, love, hate and a stalker. What more do you need in a book? I will definitely read more by Katy Brent.

I read this book over a year ago so I can't really recall the details, but I did really enjoy the premise and plot!
I'd like to return to it in the future actually, as it's definitely more aligned with the dark humourous crimey books I've been enjoying recently!
Thanks so much for the opportunity!

I just knew this book would be great. A little bit of humor a little bit of murder. However it fell flat for me. The main character was annoying and not likeable at all.

Short and sweet review!
This book had EVERYTHING it needed for a 5 star book, but it sadly didn't have the correct execution to make it a 5 star for me.
I could not stand the main character and felt that she was childish which made her murdering men... like how is she this smart when the math ain't mathing??
I wish I could have given this 192929 stars because the title and premise is so unique and quite literally amazing! It just wasn't for me!
