Not sure what is says about me that I love an edgy and snarky serial killer, but when this one describes death as “a rather pretty palette”, I was a goner!

Kitty is a strong and highly intelligent woman desperately seeking respite from tedious conversations with vapid people. How she concludes that taking on the mantel of murderess is the way to cope is for me to know and you to find out!

Kitty stumbles into her first murder, quite literally in fact. With the first done and dusted, so to speak, her life’s purpose arrives in a aha moment. Someone needs to eliminate these men who think they can continue to misbehave with no consequences. Why not her? A socialite influencer and part time vegan with time to spare.

Juggling the demands of a newly minted serial killer amid the required thought one must give to the flourishes at her crime scenes, Kitty still finds time to date. To those men I say this, tread lightly. And be afraid, be very afraid.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I loved it. This story is basically inspired by the #metoo movement and what would happen if a woman started Dexter Style killing men who are sexual predators. It does remind me a lot of Dexter, as there are many points in this book that we are following her living a normal life. Being a rich influencer on Instagram and finding new love..

This book is dark and I'd say there are definitely sexual assault triggers. The murders done by Kitty can be a bit gruesome. But none of it took away from my enjoyment of the book. Although dark, there is a bunch of dark humour mixed in.

I'd recommend this book to people who enjoyed the show Dexter and looking for a woman's take on it.

DNF. I found this to be unnecessarily graphic and also unnecessarily focused on veganism which in no way contributed to the plot of the book.

Well this was an interesting read at first I didn't know what to make of this and thought this was going to be a dnf book but then it got much better. There were traces of dexter but also references to the me too movement. It was written in a fun way and made it easy to read and I just devoured it in one afternoon.

The IT girl references did make me laugh.

Just loved the ending

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

I didn’t read the synopsis it was the cover which drew me in. As I started reading this, the plot moved very quickly and the story became so interesting. I loved the short chapters, with titles for where the chapter is set. The story was really easy to follow and all the characters were very likeable. I guessed some of the story before it was revealed but that didn’t spoil anything, however there were plenty of twists which I didn’t see coming. Not that I would’ve gone so far as Kitty’s actions, I could completely sympathise with her anger and frustration leading to the crimes. This was a breath of fresh air and very entertaining particularly having a woman breaking the stereotype of being the strong leading character.

The title of this book alone is brilliant and will pull you in - but the story is even better. Well paced, great characters this dark comedy is a great read. The story pulled me in from the beginning and had me engaged the entire time. It was also so much fun to read this in front of my husband, who asked if it was fiction or an instruction manual.
If you're looking for a fun, quick read - this is the one.

I was pulled into this book just from the title alone! We meet Kitty, instagram influencer who hates men who treat women badly. She makes them pay. This is dark comedy at its finest.

The book was paced so well and I did not want to put it down! Kitty was an unreliable narrator but that made this oh so much more fun.

Loved this and I am looking forward to more from Katy Brent

This is the book title to read on a crowded subway - but it was wicked, funny and is an absolute ironic girl power novel More please just like this - I can't get enough!

Ladies, from the title alone this is an instant MUST READ lol. If you're a fan of shows like Dexter or just like a little extra dark humor with your coffee in the morning, I think this book will be for you. I loved the commentary on men, toxic masculinity, male entitlement, etc. most of which I think readers will be nodding their heads along with. My only critique is I thought the influencer trope was a little overdone but it didn't hinder my enjoyment whatsoever. Pick up this book today if you love to see men get their justice, you won't regret it!

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

Kitty Collins is one of the most famous influencers in London. It doesn't hurt that she is the granddaughter of Captain Collins who founded the multimillion dollar company Collins' Cuts, a meat company featured heavily in the UK. Besides shopping and posting about her life, Kitty does have another hobby. She refuses to let men that have or try to hurt women get away with it. If they would just apologize it would be okay but it's not her fault that the first kill was an accident, right?

I do think where I rated this book lower was the lack of anything new. I have read My Sister the Serial Killer, watched Dexter, and am familiar with Killing Eve (both of which the author credited in her author's note) and did not feel like this book added anything new to it. I also wasn't really a fan of the ending twist and overall felt that the ending was on 2x speed. That being said, I did think that Kitty was a fun main character and it's always fun to read a story about influencers for fun. I think that if you don't think too hard about the logistics of this novel you'll have fun!

This was an OK read, I didn't really vibe with it personally, but I'm sure it will appeal to others. I really wanted to love this one, it sounded like such a fun read, was just a bit darker than I expected.

I was provided with an ARC of How to Kill Men and Get Away with It by Katy Brent via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This book was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions and events. If you get angry at misogyny and garbage men you might enjoy this book and the justice (although I'm not sure "justice" is the right word to use here due to it being morally and ethically questionable) the main character, Kitty, doles out throughout the book.

That being said, it is very graphic and has triggering content. Some parts were difficult to read because of the detail some of the scenes went into. Overall, I feel like there was a good dose of humor to try and balance out the darkness as the story went on. So if you have a morbid sense of humor you might also enjoy this book.

I was left on the edge of my seat the further into the story I got and was left frequently wondering how in the world Kitty managed to remain undetected with the exception of her "stalker" knowing her every move. I question why Kitty didn't confront them or try and discover who exactly they were earlier on. Granted she did have a lot on her plate. When the stalkers identity was revealed I was surprised because I didn't see it coming.

In the end I'm relieved this is a fictional story and although there are real garbage humans doing garbage things to other humans in the world (seriously- stop it, garbage humans!) Kitty is fictional. If she were real, I'd hate to get on her bad side!

A wonderfully titled book which made my husband look twice at when he walked past! The characters were well written and developed and the story was a brilliant fast paced adventure. Can’t wait to see more from this author

This is a very enjoyable novel that builds to a tense climax. The uncomfortably empathetic main character draws us into a world that’s at once familiar, aspirational, and also mildly horrific. I didn’t know whether to cheer her on or be appalled.

It’s not exactly hard to see the influences on this novel, if for no other reason that it name-checks some of them (notably “Dexter” and the movie “Promising Young Woman”). However, make no mistake – this is an original and distinctive novel.

Kitty Collins is a quite successful influencer, although she is cynical about this career. Even as she recognises the shallowness – and sometimes downright awfulness – of much of what she does, she continues. She’s beautiful, she’s rich, she’s more intelligent than her career choice or daily routine might suggest. Everyone wants to be her, or hire her to shill their products.

Oh yes, and she has accidentally developed a sideline: killing men who abuse women.

This is a little bit awkward for someone who lives such a very public life. Because naturally she doesn’t want anyone to know about those particular activities. Yet she just can’t help herself. Some of these bastards deserve more than a good talking to.

Some of her victims fall into Kitty’s lap (so to speak), while others she has to set out to lure into her trap. There’s no doubt they’re horrendous specimens, but do they really deserve to be killed for it? One of the strengths of this novel is that it makes you feel that the answer is quite definitely yes. Moral qualms seem academic at best.

Kitty is a strong character, and has you equally empathetic and appalled. What she’s doing seems so reasonable that before you know it, you’re going along with murder. It seems kind of… right.

The novel gently makes fun of influencers, which will give many a reader a quiet giggle. But Kitty herself is well aware of some of the ridiculousness, so you’re never laughing at her, but with her. This is important, because the novel wouldn’t work so well if you weren’t so solidly on Kitty’s side.

I really enjoyed this. I do have a taste for black humor, it’s true, and Kitty’s wry perspective struck a strong chord with me. However, I think many readers will appreciate the light style, which contrasts with tension that ratchets up subtly throughout the novel. Serious issues are raised, and they’re not treated lightly, but the overall tone is almost breezy.

The story circles around four financially blessed young women who’s biggest decision of the day might be what nail polish to wear. But all that entitlement does come with a price………an emotional one well hidden from the outside world.
Kitty is the focus in this foursome. Picture perfect, an influencer on social media, heiress of a major meatpacking family, she becomes an Avenger/ Robin Hood personality with a mission. Kitty watched her father abuse her mother one too many times and decided one day to rescue her mother with a whack in the head to her father, and so it began: her elimination of men who abused women and the elimination method was ingenious.
While the matter of physical and emotional abuse is a serious matter and is very graphic in the story, the reader finds herself delighted in the game and tricks Kitty pulls to carry out her personal goals in life.
And as with every good mystery, there is an unexpected twist------ and in this case not one but two!

An interesting book - with many interesting twists to the story. I found it delightful - and found Kitty Collins an interesting and complex character. I liked the ending and would be very interested and eager to read any sequels.

This a modern, crazy, fast paced and bizarre satirical thriller that had me laughing out loud. and wondering what the hell I was reading.
Did I enjoy it?
Yes I did, for the most part anyway.
I think it will appeal to a younger audience, late teens, 20's, 30's who are more au fait with Instagram and social media than I am and who also like far fetched, quick easy literature.
