Ok this book is fantastic. I am a huge fan of outing religious crimes and this did not dissappoint. Loved the two sisters POV and the dual timelines. Great suspense that keptme reading till the very end.

Gone Again by Minka Kent is a novel about the disappearance of Celia Guest, a woman who has seemingly everything but is still not content. The story is narrated by her sister Genevieve, who is estranged from her and tries to uncover the secrets of her past in order to find out what happened to her. I found the premise of the book to be very intriguing and was looking forward to reading more about Celia and her life.

The writing is blistering and emotive, and I couldn't help but feel utterly absorbed in the story.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with some of the execution of the novel. While I liked getting to know Celia and some of her backstory, I felt that many aspects of the plot were left unexplored or unresolved. For example, who assaulted Celia and took her purse and phone? Was it her sister? What happened to Isabel? What was the significance of the disturbing note she received on her birthday? Who wrote it? These are just a few of the questions that were not answered satisfactorily in my opinion.

Overall, Gone Again had potential but ultimately fell a bit short for me. I would give it 3 stars out of 5.

Thanks to Net Galley for the e-ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Another quick and thrilling read from Minka Kent. I thought the story was interesting although I thought the ending was a little rushed. Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend Minka Kent!

I tend to shy away from suspense novels because I’ve associated with them being slow and I do not like slow. This novel was not slow at all and I’m seriously reconsidering some life choices!

This book is told from the point of views of Genevieve and her older sister Celia in both the past and present. The day after 40TH birthday Celia takes a trip to the City and doesn’t return. Genevieve sets out on a search for her sister and learns several huge truths along the way.

This one, just wow. It wasn’t a thriller but it still had a shocking reveal - it was just done more subtly than what I associate thrillers doing. Because of this book - I am going to give serious considerations to books labeled as suspense going forward instead of immediately discounting them. I loved how this story was so intertwined and the past and present storylines along with the different sisters perspectives. Huge thanks to @netgalley and the publisher Thomas & Mercer for an advanced e-ARC in exchange for this honest review. Strong 4 out of 5 stars from me! Check this one out March 7th of next year!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC.
This book is written in 2 timelines and features 3 sisters who are brought up to be strict Christians by a super strict, nasty father who metes out horrific punishments, especially to the oldest, rebelling daughter. She escapes home at 18, leaving the 2 younger ones behind. At 40 she's basically estranged from the family, but living a good, happily married life.
Then she disappears and her younger sister and husband desperately look for her.
This was a decent read with a surprising, but quite over-the-top ending that was mildly enjoyable.

Celia receives a threatening note on her 40th birthday. Who is it from? What do they mean? Instead of sharing this information with her husband or her sister who lives nearby, Ceilia disappears in the early hours of the morning.

Through alternating POV we learn more about Ceila's childhood and the problems she faced at home. It's a quick moving mystery with an interesting twist. If you like Minka Kent, and if you do, your certainly love twisty mysteries so this is a novel for you!

Gone Again was a GREAT book. It’s the first time I’ve read anything by Minka Kent. I will definitely be checking out her other books soon. Gone Again was a book I read in one day, that’s how much I liked it. It was the perfect pace, had interesting characters, and was a very well written story. I’m now a new fan of this authors!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for early access to the book!

I really enjoyed this book. It was thrilling for me all the way through. The ending did fall a bit flat for me, but the book itself made up for it.

I’ve read a few books by her, but this by far has been one of my favorites!

What a thrilling ride this book takes a reader on! The author uses past events to contrast current situations as she weaves the plot into view. Suspense is waiting for the reader as you are on edge wondering what the big secret is that happened 20+ years ago. The only option was to keep reading!
Religion and religious abuse are a big theme in this book so if you are sensitive to that topic or have been spiritually abused, please be advised. There are other kinds of abuse mentioned as well.

A trio of sisters fighting their way out of the past abuse and fighting for relationship with each other motivates and encourages the reader to do the same.

I would not recommend this book to teenagers, and I received a free copy in exchange for this review.

Fast-paced thriller that’s both suspenseful and heartwarming ; and quick read that kept me guessing until the final chapters ! I enjoyed the character development and the alternating timelines and POVs . There are a few trigger warnings that I feel need to be noted :: domestic abuse , child abuse , church abuse .
(Thank you NetGalley for the ARC !)

ARC in exchange for review. I enjoyed this book though I didn’t feel it was an absolute page turner. I enjoyed the different perspectives and relationship dynamics. I wish there was more mystery behind the stalker, and more in depth on main characters fear in the beginning. Overall good read.

Thanks @netgalley for read number 114 of 2022. This one was an automatic download, and the perfect quick read to distract me (in a needed way) this weekend. I read this all in one sitting. Some disturbing characters & moments, but with many great twists along the way. An easy and enjoyable mystery, with some good suspense too. Read if you like multiple narrators. A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

Yes, I really enjoyed Gone Again. I kept trying to guess what was going to happen and was pleasantly thrilled by what unraveled. My gasps of: "I knew it" and "No they didn't" gave me the feels I look for in a good story. I love when I can predict the journey, but I'm excited when I'm thrown for a loop! Just when I felt like I couldn't wait for the bombshells, they blasted out making me more surprised at the outcome. The lengths some will go to in order to save face...Wow! Thank you NetGalley for being a part of this ARC.

Quick, good read with an intriguing story. Read it in one day. I have enjoyed several of Mika Kent's books and this one was no exception.

Gone Again by Minka Kent is subtitled a thriller, which this reader considers somewhat of a misnomer. The story centers around the lives of devoutly religious parents and the restrictive manner in which they raise their 3 daughters and the punishments meted out if they are not obedient and subservient. The story unfolds with chapters in the present day alternating with chapters in the lives of the daughters in the past. The story is interesting and holds the reader’s interest throughout and certain secrets revealed at the end come as a complete surprise.
I thank NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication.

On her fortieth birthday, Celia Guest has reason to celebrate. She has a loving marriage, a beautiful Connecticut home, and treasured friends. Celia has everything she’s ever wanted. But among the cards and well-wishes, she discovers a disturbing note: You don’t deserve any of this.
Who could be so cruel, so resentful, so…knowing? Then, in the early morning hours, Celia vanishes without a trace.
As suspicions and concerns rise among Celia’s friends, her sister Genevieve, with whom she shares a fractured and troubling bond, starts to piece together a shattered life that Celia fled from once before. As a foundation of lies begins to crumble, a terrifying childhood secret Celia thought was dead and buried comes to light.
And this time, there’s no getting away from the truth.
Really enjoyable read totally recommend
