Another super cute and fun read from author Kathryn Freeman. What I particularly liked though is the believability of the romance with Harry and Sally gradually falling in love over several months as opposed to weeks which often happens with this genre. Likewise I appreciated the natural dialogue and banter between the two. Both characters were really likeable, especially Harry who I fell in love with a bit too. The narrative was slightly repetitive at times continually reinforcing Sally's romanticsm and Harry's cynicism. But that didn't overshadow what was a nice story and funny too - the recreation of the orgasm scene from 'When Harry Met Sally' was definitely one of my favourites.
I think that most fans of rom coms will enjoy this one. It's fluffy, cute, and easy to read, but I also just couldn't vibe with it for some reason. Could have been the fact that the love interest is repeatedly referred to as grumpy, but the only thing he was grumpy about was not liking rom com movies? Could have been that the main character's entire personality revolved around rom coms and it felt a little forced. Could have been that social media (TikTok especially) is a major part of the book and to me, having a LOT of social media references in a book makes it feel cringey (and will also make the book feel dated a lot sooner).
I also think that, when writing a book where the characters recreate some of the cheesiest, most cliche scenes in romantic movies, that there is a pretty fine line between having the book be cute and having it feel over-the-top. Unfortunately, I think this strayed into the latter category. Not a bad idea for a book, but just a little too much for me.
Sally is an idealistic romantic who believes her own love story is out there, and Harry is a cynic who has been burned enough times he isn't even looking for a happy ending. Still, when when they post a series of TikTok videos reenacting classic rom-com scenes, they discover a chemistry that is both sizzling and lucrative.
I thought this story would be fun, light, and kind of silly. And there is definitely a lot of fun here; the classic rom-com scenes are well chosen and the descriptions of how they play out are often hilarious (and sometimes actually very romantic). As for the silliness, there may be too much. Sally is frustratingly naive and seems to believe that movies such as Pretty Woman offer a realistic and positive portrayal of romantic relationships. And the story's rather long-feeling middle section, with no other major character to focus on, gives her plenty of time to fret in a very adolescent way.
As for the lightness... the novel is, mostly, upbeat. But both main characters have trauma regarding their families of origin: Harry's is cold and unloving, while Sally lost her parents as a teenager. These backstories provide a nice grounding for the characters, but I didn't feel like they were explored as well as they could have been, perhaps to maintain the positive tone. Still, their unresolved issues left me feeling like there was another shoe still to drop if they didn't both get some therapy after the book ended.
If you are a fan of romcoms, this book is right up your alley!
It was impossible for me to not want to pick up this book as I love romantic comedies. It was fun to see how the author worked in different iconic scenes to propel the plot, and naming the characters Sally & Harry was just great (and it led me to watch the film!). I did struggle with whether or not one of the conflicts in the book was believable--I mean do people really refuse to move out of a house that they have no ownership in? Is that a thing?--but I accepted it as a necessary part of getting Harry to stay at Sally's apartment long enough to build their connection.
Cute rom com book. It is a perfect story for rom-com lovers as there are so many talked about in this book. There are definitely the romancy, cute, lovey parts and some smut throughout the book. It is cheesy, but who wants a rom com that isn't.
‘Not an expert, not even close, not in any of this. But nobody will try harder than me to make you happy.’
Fuzzies, chills, goosebumps and more. If you do (or if you don’t) enjoy romcoms you’re definitely going to feel something when you ready NPRCITC. Seriously, think of every bit of passion you feel watching romcoms and that is the best way to describe this book. Harry and Sally made me want to highlight something on every page and had me crying all throughout the ending. No One Puts Romcoms in the Corner is 1000% the romcom of the year. This updated Harry and Sally brought me though each iconic romcom and made me cheer for them as much as any other. All that to say if you want to take a moment and remember timeless romance movies or read about unsuspecting romance , that is just as climatic, this should be on your TBR for 2023.
Do you find yourself attracted to the classic RomComs, Hallmark Christmas movies, the hope of finding the ‘one’? If so then you are a lot like Sally. Having lost her parents at a young age, and with a young sister to look after, Sally put aside some of her personal aspirations to do what she needed to look after them both. Taking her inheritance she bought a small Coffee Shop and turned it into a thriving business. Still, Life came with many challenges which eventually left her and her sister, Amy, estranged. In need of a new roommate, to cover the bills, she opened her home to Harry.
I’m not going to go into what happened next as I don’t want to spoil it for you. What I will say is that I loved this book! While reflecting on my favourite reads from 2022 I noticed many were Romcoms and I admit I was a bit embarrassed by this. I’m an intelligent adult, shouldn’t I be reading more thought provoking, discerning, reads? But then I realized there is nothing wrong with Romcoms. Like the title says, Nobody puts Romcoms in the Corner. What makes a good book is one where the reader has the opportunity to escape. It makes you laugh, cry, feel the passion the characters feel. One where you can learn something. But more importantly it makes the reader feel good. This book has all of this and more.
I didn’t realize this book was by the same author as The New Guy (if you haven’t read this one do so. It is good). Kathryn Freeman created characters who were genuine and loveable. The story line was interesting and kept me reading, no boring spots. Now having read two of her books I will be looking to read more. Overall I couldn’t have been happier then to start 2023 off with this charming book.

Nobody Puts Romcoms in a Corner gave me ALL THE FEELS. This book is any romcom lovers dream! Harry and Sally had such great chemistry and fell in love instantly. This book is such a fun take on#grumpysunshine.
Sally is the ultimate romantic and Harry is a non-believer when it comes to love. Sally and Harry are flatmates, but one drunken night and one romcom iconic moment reenactment later leads them to go viral on TikTok. To keep their fans happy, they continue to reenact famous romcom scenes with their own hilarious twist. Will acting like a man in love turn Harry into a believer?! When Harry meets Sally, take 2!
This is a delightful, endearing, sweet and funny rom-com that made me laugh, smile and cheer. I absolutely loved the characters and have now become a huge Kathryn Freeman fan and can’t wait to read her back list. If you’re looking for a book to lighten your mood and put a smile on your face, this is it.

I am utterly and hopelessly addicted to Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner!
From the absolute opposites of Harry and Sally to the amazing romcom reenactments, this book was sweet and sexy all at the same time. Seeing Harry grow as he navigates his blossoming feelings for Sally is adorable and the way Sally and her ever optimistic heart fiercely loves everyone around her make me know she'd be an awesome in real life best friend.
I found myself wanting Harry to wrap me in his arms, wanting to be Sally during their reenactments, and most importantly, found myself cheering for both main characters throughout the entire story.
This is a fun easy to read book. It’s not perfect but it has charm and unlike so many books claiming to be a romance it really tries to stick to the chemistry between the characters and doesn’t get lost in boring sidetracks. Also both characters are genuinely good, maybe too much so, instead of being obviously incompatible which is another complaint I often find in this genre. Sally is the hopeless romantic who does not let allow real life sadness get her down but is she holding out for an unrealistic idea of love? Harry is the perhaps too jaded guy who very much is not looking for love. It’s not really fair to say opposites attract here as he is far too kind to really be a an unavailable love interest. They have fun banter and sparks, although the plot setups might seem a bit forced. There is a bit too much of the forced block between them with her not believing they have a chance because he does not believe in the happily ever after. They can both be too kind which is grating when they’re taking advantage of. But overall the pacing is good and it’s a fun read. The steam level can get a bit graphic in one scene but for the most part there is a genuine effort to have the characters fall for each other even if sex is mentioned a lot. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was attracted by the cover and title. The two MCs are called Sally and Harry. Sally is a hopeless romantic who loves romcom films. Harry is a cynic who, due to his personal experience, doesn't believe in love.
The main idea of the story is good, but the conflict of the story is solely based on Harry's Ex. That's too little for me and made the resolution feel over the top.
The writing didn't exactly gel with me either. Granted, I read a review copy. Which means it might still have some errors and the final format isn't used yet. But there were scenes where one person was suddenly replaced by a different character altogether, which made me reread paragraphs and hence took me out of the story more than once.
When I first saw this book I wasn’t sure what to think. As cute as the title is, I think it really does this book a disservice. Even as a romance lover (especially romcoms), I judged this book as too cheesy and ridiculous based purely on the title. Which was a mistake!
Instead, this was an adorable romance about two people learning the realities of love together, through ridiculous ‘romcom moments’. Loved it!!

Very cute story of flatmates acting out iconic rom-com scenes and posting them online. I could actually picture myself scrolling TikTok and coming across these.
I thought all of the different friendships and family relationships were fleshed out, but I did think something was missing with Harry's and his mom's relationship. It felt like they both reconciled with everyone they needed to, but that was left hanging a bit.
I also liked that there wasn't a big miscommunication fight that can be solved by talking. Yes, they needed to talk, but it was about realizing what each other needed and wanted, not a secret coming to light or something.

I really loved this book if you are a ROM com fan make sure you add this to your list of books to read for next year. This book is funny, adorable, a little predictable, heartwarming and sexy. There are some steamy moments in this book. I loved the characters and knew what would happen before the ending. But do you know what that's ok. It brought me lots of my favourite romcoms reinacted with hilarious consequences and I just throughly enjoyed it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
This made me want to watch so many romcoms with all the references tucked inside of it!
Harry and Sally (I know right) are the grumpy sunshine couple in this romance filled with romcom mishaps and cheesy scenes. I liked Sally’s backstory so much.
The middle was a little long, and I didn’t love the miscommunication trope, but happy endings all around!
Thanks to @netgalley for an advanced copy of this book!
Loved this book!!! I really enjoyed the throwbacks to romcoms from various decades. The story between Harry and Sally was so sweet it kept me from wanting to put the book down. It had just the right amount of twists and turns in the story to keep you wondering what would happen next. Such a fun book to read, thank you!
This book was super cute and cosy. I adored Sally the main character, her persona was so lovely and bouncy! I also love rom-coms so I was sold from the beginning! I thought the plot was really sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine x grumpy trope... Harry was the best male main character, and I found his sarcasm and humour very funny. the plot was well executed - just enough chemistry and tension to keep me hooked! this has made me want to read more of Kathryn Freeman’s novels! I would definitely recommend this to my rom-com lovers! I’ve also found movies to watch as they sounded good! My only con was that the miscommunication was slightly annoying but it all worked out in the end 😌
This book had me blushing, giggling and smiling.
The fluff was perfect and the constant romcom references made this book such an Enjoyable read. And that's with a capital E.
Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner is a cute story with a silly title. When Harry and Sally met he had recently broken up, his ex refusing to move out, so he found temporary lodgings with Sally. Sally is a romantic at heart, looking for The One, but Harry is more cynical about the whole love thing in general and romcoms in particular. A video of them replicating a famous Meg Ryan scene goes viral on Tiktok and they decide to make some money re-enacting more romcom scenes. There is physical chemistry between them that they are initially wary to act on, as Sally believes in happy ever afters and bells ringing and Harry thinks it would only end badly. His parents aren¨t on speaking terms and they interact with Harry in a demanding, negative, critical manner. Sally has family trouble of her own as her younger sister is drifting aimlessly and expecting Sally to finance her life. Harry and Sally both have to figure out that love is verb and Harry has already been showing his love by supporting her in various ways.
I enjoyed the story overall although I thought Harry and Sally dragged their feet a little long after both had realized they had a bit of a crush on the other. There is a lot of entertaining dialogue and the romantic climax was very sweet. The third act breakup was initiated by Sally and I thought it was her turn to do some grand romantic gesture to get them back together but in romcoms it's nearly always the guy showing up with the speech, so... It is well edited and written in third person narrative.
I received a free copy and this is a voluntary review.
