A sleepy Scottish town? Check! A decades old mystery check? Check! A group of friends with great banter? Check! The Loch is creepy thriller with loads of mystery and intrigue. The main characters feel like they could be any group of young people in a bar on vacation looking to camp, hike and have a good time. The story is told through multiple characters perspectives and it jumps between and present which kept me on my toes. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it.

Having previously read and enjoyed After the Eclipse by this author, I was pleased to read The Loch. It is ideal for fans of claustrophobic psychological thrillers. All the ingredients are here: a group of friends away at a remote location when one disappears and the others doubt each other; unfriendly locals scarred by a past tragedy; and a second timeline involving the mysterious Rebecca.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an independent review.

The story follows 3 friends who go on a trip to a Loch, following the disappearance of one of them, the other two are faced with a race to find their friend but also untangle a story from 25 years earlier.

Very much enjoyed this book, both the atmosphere created and the story told were captivating and makes for a book that is hard to put down.
Twists are hard to hide, especially in a modern society where there are hundreds of books published annually and social media has a habit of spoiling anything it can, but despite this it was an enjoyable read and I was actually surprised that it was 400 pages, it felt a lot less.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publishers for the chance to read this book.

Very predictable and although the writing was trying to evoke a creepy and mysterious mood, it failed miserably with stilted dialogue and repetitive phrases. Ultimately, the plot and characters were too boring and lifeless to become invested in the story.

OK so not a stellar read but certainly one worth picking up. The first half was solid with good pacing and development, It's the second half where it became a little to "perfect". Perfect coincidences, perfect revelations. It just got a little far fetched. The remote setting and writing style make up for this though

An eerie, atmospheric thriller. Three friends book a house beside a loch at the last minute when their planned camping trip is spoiled by bad weather. It's a house with a history -- three girls went missing 25 years earlier. In addition to the creepy house, the village is populated with tight-lipped, unfriendly locals. One of the girls goes missing. Is history repeating itself?

Copy kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.

An interesting read. 3 friends go on quite a little getaway, but it turns out to be more of an adventure with quite a few surprises. Definitely wasn't what they were expecting. The people in the village didn't want to talk about particular events of the past. The ending was surprising and not what I was expecting.

A convoluted, but interesting story. Why would a house that hasn't been rented out to holidaymakers be available for three friends at short notice? It's right on the edge of the loch and would surely be popular with people. Is there something wrong with it? The girls, on a rainy long weekend, find what seems to be an idyllic setting for their catch-up.

Brilliant, loved it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

This is a good book and totally did not see how it was gonna turn and end. The author did a great job developing the story like that kept me guessing every step of the way. I recommend it to anyone looking for a book to capture their attention. You won't want to put the book down.

What a fantastic atmospheric thriller!!!

I have not read any Fran Dorricott books prior to this one but I need to go and check out her backlist.

I loved the multiple POVs, the setting which seemed to breath off the page, and the pace left me breathless.

I look forward to reading more from Dorricott!

Three young women decide to take a long weekend in Scotland camping. The weather turns against them and they need somewhere to stay near where they should be camping and find Loch house.
The house looks like it hasnt been stayed in for years and the three women are puzzled by why.

As the book continues with twists and turns along the way, everything isn't as it seems.

A good book which kept me reading.

I really enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and surprises. Towards the end I started figuring out a few things but not all of them.
I love camping and adventure books thrown in with some mystery and thriller and this was a great mix of all of those things. I finished it in two nights because I just couldn’t put it down.
Definitely a good one.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the copy of The Loch. Yikes this was a long book and I kept hoping it would engage me more. The first 50% was slow and I thought the “eerie and atmospheric” part would never start. Yes, it picked up in the last half, but even then I never got creepy, eerie vibes. This was just a straightforward dual timeline tale, and I think the writing style just wasn’t for me because I didn’t care about any of the characters, to be honest they just annoyed me. Between Cliio calling her friends “dude” over and over and the poor choices they kept making, this was a tough read. I’m not sure the ending was believable, but what saved the for me was the story, because I didn't expect the reveal at all. I’m just disappointed it took so long to get there. 2.5 rounded up to 3 stars.

The Loch by Fran Dorricott is the first book I've read by this author. There were various character narratives told from multiple perspectives. This type of trope is getting overused and can be boring and tedious to read.

The atmosphere was interesting, which gave the story a cold and creepy feeling. The characters were likable and interesting, I just didn't like the multiple POVs. The story did have a good twist.

I may check out more books by this author, but The Loch was just an okay read for me.

Even though the twist was obvious, I still could not put this down. I HAD to find out what happened to the missing girls. The loch where this story took place was so eerie, and the amount of details made me want to go to Scotland immediately. This was a fantastic read, definitely check this out when it’s released in March.

This book has lots of twists and turns, lots of what if... Eerie and creepy. Secrets lead to a mysterious disappearance. I found this to be an interesting read.

This book was just okay for me. I found the storyline ok it just took too long to get to the unputdownable part. It’s like 75% of the book was slow moving and the last 25% was faster and more exciting.

Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, a few crazy twists and a great who done it! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
