Emma thinks she has found her perfect man. It is not until she is married to him after a whirlwind romance that she finds out that he is a London gangster. Everything changes once they are married and he becomes very controlling over everything. Emma is pleased when he is sentenced to five years in prison because she has her freedom back and can now see a way out of the marriage. Unfortunately for Emma he has other ideas and carries on controlling her from prison through her family.
I enjoyed this story and couldn't actually see a way out for Emma. This kept me reading as I was intrigued to see how it would end. I would recommend this book to fans of thrillers and also crime fiction.

A little disappointed by this great premise a little less well executed. Most of the characters were one dimensional and irritating making it hard to get attachzd

I really enjoyed this book. Emma is married to Tommy who has just been jailed for 5 years. She is delighted, as she has been the victim of coercive control and sees this as a way out. However, Tommy threatens Emma with harm to her family if she leaves him, and he has issued her with a set of rules which she must obey. This is a real edge of your seat book which will keep you guessing to the end. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

Emma has married a monster, only she didn’t know it at the time!

Emma was working as a waitress when she meets Tommy Driscoll, the man who sweeps her off her feet, only she doesn’t know what she is marrying in to.

Tommy is head of the Driscoll criminal empire, only Emma has no idea who or what her husband is until he lands himself in prison. Thinking she is finally free to live her life, Emma could not be more wrong! From inside his prison cell, Tommy becomes more controlling over what Emma can and cannot do whilst he serves his time and to ensure she doesn’t break his rules, Liam, Tommy’s brother and Ruby, their mother decide to enact on Tommys wishes and as threats are made against Emma’s family and friends, can she ever escape?

Turning to Jake, Tommy’s right hand man, Emma confides in him, but can she trust the man who is her husbands employee? Jake has made it clear he works for the Driscoll family and will do anything he is asked, so by telling him a secret has Emma trusted the wrong person?

A fast paced edge of the your seat book which I read from start to finish in one day and enjoyed every minute of it.

I really liked this entertaining and intriguing book. The plot evolved in such a way that made you want to keep turning pages and find out what happens. Full tribute to Ali Blood for achieving that.

The author gave an insight into dealing with an abusive relationship! The complications for the prisoner’s wife are multiplied exponentially by the fact that her husband is an organised crime lord! Her family are supportive and her sister Amanda is an impressive character!

The finish was slightly predictable but most enjoyable! Well done Ali Blood.

Emma married Tommy knowing he was loving and handsome and rich, and she looked away at what he did for a living until she found out who the real Tommy was.
Tommy had been arrested for possessing a gun in his car, Emma hoped he would be sent to prison for a long time,
What she did not know that if Tommy was sent to prison there was a lot of rules she would have to obey or her family would not be safe.
Emma had no choice but to obey, until something happened that may have changed her mind.

This book was okay, but I wished that I had liked it more. I just didn't connect to it, and found my attention going walkabout. I see that other readers enjoyed it more, so I am sorry it wasn't for me.

Emma is married to Tommy, Tommy pretended to be her knight in shining armor. Instead he was her worst nightmare. When her husband got arrested she thought this was her chance to be free, but no she has rules to follow and even though he’s in prison his brother Liam and rude mother Ruby or watching her. To make it worse he even threatened her sister Amanda and her mother but even worse than that Emma has a secret and that secret has come back for blackmail. Ironically enough she has found solace in the fact she has a new confidant and that is Tommy’s left hand man and fellow gangster. Who knew the only person that isn’t related to Tommy that he trusts would be the one person that would be her friend through all of it. The way this book ends is it the way most people wish for it in whispers with giggles and glee in our eyes. I found this book so good and it had so many twist but what makes this book great is the twist or believable although there so many. I truly truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you love the thriller's with twist squared do you need to read “the prisoners wife“ by Ollie Blood you won’t regret it and it is an ending I’m sure most of us haven’t read before. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

3.5 rounded down

The prisoners wife is Emma, wife of Tommy Driscoll, head of an organised crime group in South London, who is sent down for five years for firearms possession. Tommy wants to continue to dominate and control Emma from his prison cell, making her a virtual prisoner in her home. Tommy’s mother, Ruby and brother Liam watch over her, enforcing Tommy’s unreasonable rules. Can Emma break away as as she has to pay a high price for playing the role of loyal wife??? The novel back tracks to Tommy coming into her life and sweeping her off her feet with a charm offensive, alternating with the story from Tommy’s sentencing.

This is an easy read page turner with a quick pace and you can easily picture Tommy with insidious power oozing from his pores and his smothering cruelty. You sense Emma‘s anxiety and tension, though I find her hard to connect with as some of her actions are both naive and foolish. As you’d expect with a gangster as a central protagonist, there is threat, menace and danger with walls closing in as Emma finds herself between a rock and a hard place.

However, although it is entertaining, it’s a bit one-dimensional and there is too much repetition, especially of Emma‘s feelings.
The story is dramatic and yet in places the delivery is low-key, perhaps because it’s from Emma‘s perspective and she’s trying to survive.
You definitely required those infamous far-fetched disbelief suspenders at times and the ending is packaged up far too neatly and tidily considering the build up.

Overall though it’s a diverting and enjoyable read and the debut shows promise.

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Avon Books U.K. for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

I didn't really enjoy this book as I felt it was a little bit unrealistic. But having said that it kept me gripped enough to read to the end.

This is a fast-paced, bingeable story. I ran through the pages as fast as I could! I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It's always pleasant to find a read with a fresh storyline. A fine debut from Ali Blood.
The story is told through the eyes of the main character, Emma. Emma marries Tommy after a whirlwind romance, and very quickly finds out she had no idea who she married or how he could afford to keep her in the lap of luxury. Danger is lurking and secrets are waiting to be exposed.
I will say that the ending was difficult for me to accept. I also had a hard time liking Emma, though she was clearly in an abusive relationship.
Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena.

Emma's gangster husband is sentenced to five years in prison, but she is about to enter into her own prison. He gives her a set of rules she must live by, and tells her his family will be watching her and will hurt her family if she steps out of line. This is a tense, claustrophobic read. Suspend your disbelief and just go along on this ride!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an early copy of The Prisoner’s Wife. Sooooooo far fetched that it bordered on not believable BUT it was very fast paced so I kept reading. Figured out the ending but it was better than what I expected. I didn’t love it but I’m glad I stuck with it.

I really enjoyed it! I’ve read a few books recently that have felt a bit ‘samey’ so it was refreshing that this storyline was unique and original. There are lots of unexpected twists throughout that will make you want to keep reading late into the night whether you want to or not!

Parts of the plot seemed a little unrealistic and I found myself thinking that this would never happen in real life making this a 4* instead of a 5* - but, having said that, I really hope it never does happen in real life! The pace of this book really picks up in the second half and I was kept guessing right up until the every end which I loved! Highly recommend 🙌🏻

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for this eARC.

This book started off slow and then the second half really got going! I did feel the book was a bit repetitive in places but on the whole a great read.
