This was such a cute holiday book! As some of you know I'm a newbie when it comes to romance novels but I am so glad I was given the opportunity to read this one.
It was the perfect Christmas story of Mason and Lyla's adventure to finding eachother. Also, I want to live in Yule! Lyla was so relatable for me and I really enjoyed the story of Yule and the workshop.
Definitely a must read for the holidays.

✨2.5-3⭐
If you like Hallmark movies, enemies to lovers romance, and cozy Christmas books, you might enjoy this quirky take on office romance and the North Pole.
Claus is rigid and stern and a total pain in Lyla's butt. When her father retired and sold half the shares of his toy company to Claus, Lyla was hurt and angry. She was supposed to be in charge and now she is stuck with a co-CEO that is grumpy and uptight.
They definitely hate each other. When Claus calls in a favor and they have to spend time pretending to be engaged, Lyla isn't sure how she feels. Is Claus as grumpy as he always seems or just misunderstood? Has he always been so handsome?
Overall, I wanted to love this book. The plot was super cute and fun, it made me want to find out what was going to happen. My main issues were with the characters. Claus and Lyla are both pretty unlikeable and their communication is disrespectful and terse. I didn't like their "banter" and found it condescending. I was rooting for things to change, but ultimately they kept getting worse.
The story also lacked detail and a couple of times I felt like I missed a few pages? It almost feels like you should be watching it to get more from the characters.
Thank you to netgalley for an eARC copy.

Not much romance here. Was very exciting and magical at first, but then got pretty predictable. I did appreciate the Christmas setting.

I was looking for a lighthearted bit of Christmas romance and I found it. This enemy’s to lovers, fake relationship story was a slow burn and I’ll admit it wasn’t until close to the end that I was even rooting for them but sometimes you just want to float through a story and see a happy ending. This will get you there. :)

This was a fun holiday read! I am only reading Christmas/Holiday themed books throughout the month of December, and I’m glad I chose this one.
Mason and Lyla run a toy company together that has been in Lyla’s family for years. They do not get along or agree on how to handle the business, including throwing the annual Christmas party for employees. Lyla decides to throw the party without Mason, and it ends in disaster. Mason offers Lyla a deal to even things up, but she must accompany him back to his hometown for Christmas.
I thought the author did so well with the Christmas side of the story. I’ve read several Christmas themed novels now where there’s hardly anything Christmas actually mentioned past getting a tree or decorating. I loved the spin on Santa and delivering magic.
The only thing I didn’t love about this book was the romance… or lack of romance. There was zero chemistry between the two main characters, and it honestly seemed like the romance was an afterthought. The one intimate scene was so random and didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the writing of the book. I enjoy a good smutty love scene, but 98% of the book was innocent and wholesome and then a random sex scene was thrown in.
The conflict towards the end of the book also seemed sort of thrown in as a last thought making the ending feel super rushed.
Overall if you’re looking for a Christmas book to get you in the holiday mood, I would definitely recommend this book. If you’re looking for a romance read, I would probably skip it.

This was so cozy! The romantic tension was just right. I love when someone pines for their rival. And what a fun twist on Santa! The setting is adorable. I just wish it were a little bit longer.

The Nighty or Nice Clause is a classic enemies to lovers troupe with a bit of a Christmas twist. I appreciated the diverse cast and unique setting. I would have liked to see a bit more believable parts in the book. I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC.

Such a great holiday read! To be honest, it took me a minute to get into it, but once I did, I couldn’t stop. The enemies to lovers theme fits so well here. And oh, how I want to visit Yule! I love Mason’s family and the beautiful descriptions of the town. Will definitely be reading this again next year at Christmas time.

I really liked the idea of this book but overall the story was little underwhelming. It was very slow pace the majority of the story then I felt like the end was a little rushed. I did like the town vibe and the coziness of the Christmas theme.

This was good but quite forgettable.
I would not have been as calm as Lyla was if I suddenly found out magic was real and I was in Santa's village.
The ending was a little rushed, and I felt like I was missing something. I liked the unique look on what Santa does and what he delivers on Christmas day. Overall this was cute and quite enjoyable, but nothing special :) Solid 3 stars.

3.5 stars. This was a quick, super cute Christmas romance with a little magic.
I LOVE the Klaus family, they are the sweetest bunch; even Mason. I feel like the progression from enemy to lover was done nicely. The drama wasn't TOO over-the-top; what you'd expect from an enemy to lovers.
I want to go to Yule for Christmas, it sounds like an amazing town!
Thank you to the publisher and Kate Callaghan via Netgalley for the copy to read and review.

Cute holiday romance that will fill your time! I didn't find it overly memorable but I did enjoy all of the characters and supporting cast as well. The setting was fun and I felt like it was just the right amount of holiday "magic" without it feeling too over-the-top. I didn't *love* the chat and dialogue between the characters I thought that could've had some more depth to it but overall it was fun. I recommend this if you're looking for a quick holiday read to scratch the Hallmark itch. BONUS: At the time of this posting it's $2.99 on kindle! Go go go!

this was such a cute holiday read, I got soooo excited once I figured out the direction of this story. The back and forth banter in this story was incredibly funny. It was also incredibly obvious that he has always been in love with her, how she did not see it I don’t know!! I wasn’t a fan of the third person POV, it’s just generally not my favorite. I also think the transition into the relationship could have been smoother & some things did not add up. Overall, a really fun holiday read

I did not really find the romance believable. The story didn’t seem developed enough and the ending was sort of rushed. It was an easy and enjoyable read but definitely could be improved.

It took a while for this book to grab my attention, but once it did, I loved it. The Christmas vibes were fantastic. I loved the take on Santa and the North Pole so much! In fact, the Yule vibes stole the show for me more than the romance. That said, this felt like true enemies to lovers, which was fun. My main complaint is that it was too short. The ending felt super rushed. I just wanted more of the two of them. Overall, though, this was a really fun Christmas read.

4.5/5 ⭐
I chose to read this book on NetGalley.
Woah, this made so emotional... I really really loved Kate Callaghan's writing, It was so sweet and yet so powerful. There were so many good quotes. The last 10 chapters were so addictive, I couldn't put the book down.
Mason and Lyla are what I expected in love: a thunder of feelings crushing into your heart. The way both of them protect each other... I just can't handle it 😍. And can we please talk about their "sweet nothings" (such as Mason dying a dress because Lyla's favourite colour was green or Lyla cleaning Mason's wound).
I would love a spin off book about Kevin. He's so sweet, I love him so much. The family was amazing!!
I took half a star off because I didn't really connect with the last two chapters. I can't understand why Mason couldn't let Lyla ring the bell, because I'm 100% sure she would have rung it.
But overall I think this will be a Christmas reread for sure.

A fun Holiday novella featuring some genre favorite tropes like enemies to lovers, a marriage of convenience, and a grumpy love interest with a complicated past and a soft spot for those he cares about. Rivals Lyla and Mason who can't seem to get along at work end up back in Mason's home together, an idyllic holiday setting for romance and family. Lyla discovers that this cold-hearted man is more than he seems, much like the village that he is from.
This was a really fun read and the holiday storylines were surprisingly grounded. I did feel like the ending was rushed, and would have loved some more time and development for our characters right at the end. It felt a little rushed and I didn't think that Lyla's ending made much sense when considering her development but overall it has the happy ending you want when you pick up a romance for the holidays!

Give me all the festive reads! This one was an easy and cute enemies to fake relationship to lovers read. It even made me laugh a few times. However, it had more magic than I usually enjoy and it left me wanting/needing more in the romance department. Neither Lyla nor Mason were the most likable characters. I also found the ending to be incredibly abrupt. Overall, I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite holiday read. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

If you are looking for a festive read and love a good grumpy/sunshine romance, stop here! This is the Holiday read for you!
Lyla has been running her father's Toy company with fellow investor Mason Klaus. Klaus may be his last name, but he's more like the Grinch to Lyla! Canceling Holiday parties and focusing on numbers above all else, Lyla dreams of being able to take over Mason's shares of the company. But when the Christmas Party she threw behind Mason ends in a building fire, she's lost her bargaining chips.
Distracted by a letter indicating familial issues, Mason agrees not to hold her part in the fire against her if she accompanies him to his family reunion. This is where the festive part comes! As Mason lives in a fanciful, Christmas Village (not unlike the North Pole!). We learn that Mason is next in line for the Klaus family business (we'll call it that!) and Lyla's role in smoothing things over between he and his family.
Sparks begin to fly, but of course, conflicts also emerge -- but hold tight to your reindeer sleigh, for a happy ending is coming!
Mason and Lyla lovingly reminded me of Luke and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls, and it made this read even MORE fun for me! I found the magic was done in a way that was fun, but not TOO campy. There were explanations for all elements of Christmas Magic, which helps to keep me in the world. A recommended read for your Holiday List!

The Naughty or Nice Clause was my most anticipated festive read of the year and sadly I didn’t love it. It was definitely ok, and the speed of which I read it was absolutely a bonus. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite as magical as I’d hoped.
This took me no time at all to read, which at first was confusing, but then I realised that there weren’t many descriptions of anything. I can tell you that Mason is blonde and Lyla has curly hair, and that’s about it. There’s not much in the way of character descriptions and background details are unheard of.
The village of Yule would have been the perfect place to really get the festive vibes going with descriptions of powder-white snow and twinkling lights. But no, this didn’t happen. It’s really a shame, because the concept of this is really good, it just wasn’t executed too well.
Unfortunately, the romance also wasn’t executed very well. The book moved far too fast for Lyla and Mason to move from hating each other to being in love within literally a week, if that. I get that festive romances are meant to be over the top and they fall in love quickly, but it didn’t work here.
I did like them together and I think given time their relationship would make sense. But he pretty much kidnapped her, forced her to be his fiancee after threatening to have her memories wiped, and his ex almost killed her. That’s a bit much if you ask me.
The Naughty or Nice Clause is a Hallmark movie in written form; outrageously ridiculous with a weak romance plot. Don’t get me wrong sometimes this works, those types of movies aren’t guilty pleasures for no reason, and honestly this was a decent read. It’s just sad that you don’t really get to learn anything about the characters or their surroundings.
If you want a very quick Christmassy read that you don’t need to take too seriously, then I’d definitely recommend The Naughty Or Nice Clause. Don’t ask me why it’s called that though, I have no idea.
