Cold-Blooded Liar by Karen Rose is the first book in her new romantic suspense series, San Diego. No simple plots for this author! This is a complex case in this book which started with investigating cold cases and moved along to more recent murders. The main characters are very likable and well-developed. The storyline moves along at a fast pace and is filled with suspense and action. I was fascinated with the main characters developing relationship. I very much enjoyed this read. It's a great introduction to the series.

Well-written, interesting, and easy to get lost in, this is a great addition to the author’s already excellent library. The romance in this book the epitome of a slow-burn (way more so than in a lot of her other books) to the point where I’d say this is more crime fiction than romantic suspense. The author is definitely setting this book up to be book one in one of her mini-series, and I’m eagerly awaiting book two.

This was a fun book.

Very fast read and super entertaining. It *is* about a serial killer who does bad things to young women/girls, so it’s not all bubble gum and flowers – definitely some tough subject matter. But it still manages to somehow be a light read.

I loved our characters and there are some peripheral characters who definitely need their own books (hint to the author/publisher).

As for the romance, it’s the sweet kind, not the scorching kind. You have two damaged individuals who are dealing with terrible things and just kind of…tip toeing toward each other.

Definitely enjoyable!

Wow! A lot going on here! Great book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, serial killer, little bit of romance a great who done it and great police work! The storyline was so very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! There were some crazy twists and turns! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Karen Rose always gives a great read. She immerses you in the city she's writing about and makes a very suspenseful storyline. Most of the time the main male character is a rough and ready/heart of gold hero. I'm not sure what to think about the male love interest in this one. He fell flat for me and didn't seem to have much to do but whine about how he was being treated, but he certainly came through in the end!

I read all of this author's books. I enjoyed this one and was angry when I had to stop reading it. I hope this is part of a series since I want Kit to become involved with Sam. I liked the strong woman figure as well as her relationship with her parents. I hope we eventually get to find out what happened to Wren.

There’s a serial killer loose in San Diego and homicide detective Kit McKittrick wants him so bad. After all she became a cop because her foster sister’s murder was never solved.

An anonymous tip leads Kit and her partner to a local park where they discover the grave of a teen girl that links to their killer. They learn the tip came from psychologist Dr. Sam Reeves, a counselor for a paroled felon. Sam believes his client, a pathological liar, may also be a killer. The tip backfires when his client appears to commit suicide and Sam becomes a suspect.

Kit wants to believe Sam’s innocence but most of the department thinks him guilty. Could he really have been stalking teen girls for nearly twenty years, or could the real killer be setting him up?

I really liked this book. Quick pacing and complex plotting had me suspecting everyone. Just a touch of romance and hints of a potential sequel sealed the deal.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wowee. This might have been the fastest I’ve ever finished a book in my whole life. It definitely kept me hooked from start to finish and I didn’t have a clue as to how the story would play out. Of course, no book is perfect, so I will say that it did leave me with some unanswered questions and I felt that the ending was a little anticlimactic. Overall, it was a genuinely good read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also liked that there was a small hint of romance in it because if you’re like me, then you can’t read anything if there’s not even a whisper of a love relationship included in the book. To sum everything up, I would say that although Cold Blooded Liar is a good book, it could be a bit better.
