“And anyway, danger’s not a bad thing, right?”
“Evie, I’d like you to pretend to be my fiancée”
Literal chills and goosebumps!!!
Wow wow wow !!!
Sexy, romantic, sweet and spicy !! This book had them all !!!
In a fake dating romance, Evie and Alex have to face his family and their future only to find love in the most unexpected ways !!!!
I love that once again he is the one to fall first and maybe even when he didn’t know it !!!
I had so much fun reading about them.
Especially when it got to the point where the tension was really high !!
I wish I had had the opportunity to read even book one in this series but they can all be read as standalones so it wasn’t mandatory to fully understand the plot of this one.
I absolutely fell for Alex and the way he treats Evie and she is such a reliable character !!!
I’ve been waiting to read about someone like her for a while!!
I think this book was more a friends to lovers than an enemies to lovers … but the fake dating more that did the trick for me!!
I’m so glad I had the chance to read it and I cannot wait for it to be out !!!!
“I think there’s something in the air here … something that’s making me want to drag her to me and kiss her senseless”
“I love it when you’re loud. I couldn’t care less who hears”

Unfortunately, this one just wasn't for me. It is an easy read, two person POV. The two main characters felt very bland and one dimensional to me. Horribly repetitive. Lots of telling and not enough showing if that makes sense. I got bored pretty fast and didn't feel emotionally connected or invested in what happened next to either of them.

This book has the fake engagement trope, which I always enjoy. I found it to be a super easy and engaging read. The main downside I had was that it all felt rushed. I wished the book was longer and that there were more scenes where they had to pretend to be engaged.

______________
Crash began as a much shorter story on Wattpad, per the author’s note at the end. I’d be interested to read that one, because the things which did not work for me here may not exist in a tighter version.

Dual first person, present tense is popular now, but it’s tough to pull off. With Evie and Alex, we spend so much time in their heads it’s claustrophobic. Each character tells, not shows, their thoughts and feelings, when dialogue and action would air it out a bit.

There is so much repetition of thought. For example, we are told in the first few pages that Evie’s parents are dead, but she mentions that again through the entire narrative. A fact that big, dumped that quickly, has staying power. Trust me as a reader to be paying attention and move on.

Inside the mind of Alex, we also have repetition of a different sort, in that his persona slides around and can be hard to distinguish from Evie, and vice versa. Without gendered pronouns and the chapter headings with names, I would struggle to tell the two of them apart out of context.

The repetition issue may be a consequence of expanding a tight serialized story for a full-length novel. This felt like reading a second draft of a manuscript–a good start, but maybe another go around or two would make it shine.

There were parts of this I liked and parts of this I just absolutely did not love at all. I think it definitely reads like a Wattpad book, which is fitting, given the book's publisher. But, it's also an insult to some Wattpad books I've read as there have been some that were really good and this just... wasn't. I was hoping for more, as one of my favorite tropes is fake dating/ fake engagement. But this wasn't done well. I didn't feel much chemistry between Evie and Alex and the smut scenes overwhelmed the plot. The title is something I couldn't figure out? Why is it called Crash and we get no explanation as to why? I think the pacing was off and it really read like a bad fan fiction. Props to the author for trying, but I just didn't enjoy it.

****Crash. There were parts of this story that this reader totally loved…fake relationship, independent heroine, snarky family relationships, hot leading man with hidden talents. I did not see the need for the explicit graphic parts and never figured out how the book title was relevant. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.

This book follows Alex a well known bachelor who proposes to Evie an intern about to finish at his company that they get fake engaged so he can prove to his family he can be responsible enough to become the next CEO. This was a great and relaxing read. Both Alex and Evie was such great characters especially Evie. She had a great personality and I was always rooting for her. The fake engagement trope was done well in this book and I was engaged while reading this. Would definitely recommend this book for those who love billionaire romances and fake engagement.

I loved this book! Just like a hallmark movie!

The plot was your regular old fake engagement trope where the lines between fake and real start to blur. While the concept wasn't anything new, I still enjoyed reading it. I couldn't get enough of Evie & Alex together, which is why I wished there should've been some more scenes where they had to pretend, because the only time they did so was when Evie met Alex's family. Though their chemistry was really palpable and whenever they were in vicinity of each other, I could feel the sparks flowing! The only side characters I loved were Alex's grandmother and Evie's sister Sabrina, the rest of them were just plain annoying. I wish we could get to see more of Travis though. Because he was Alex's bestfriend, it made sense for him to play a considerable role in the story but he was just mentioned once or twice and had a short conversation with Evie. Anyways, I still liked the book and the writing style. I will be looking forward to read more from this author now!

I think you need to aim a little higher. You’re giving me your time. Your entire summer. You’re giving me you.”
