The cover and title really intrigued me to this book and I really thought I was going to love it; unfortunately that just wasn't the case.
So so so many spelling and sentence structure mistakes. Got to 57% before I just could not do it anymore and I had to put the book down.
There were times where I found myself starting to get into the poems. But then a sentence that was just wrong and it would take me out of it again.

This is a book I'll be coming back to again and again. Such gorgeous poetry. There were lines that just reached outside of the pages inside my chest and squeezed.

So far, my favourite poems are Why I Told Mama, Acceptance and Destiny Rejection, but I am sure that as I return to the book, I'll be finding new favourites and rediscovering the old in a different way.

Wonderful book of poetry about self-discovery.

Long Live Phoenixes is an intriguing poetry collection that inspires readers along their journey of self-discovery, self-awareness and self-love. The book is divided into nine Phoenix Laws that touch on different aspects of one's self. A unique collection that I would call self-help poetry.

I enjoyed a few of this collection's poems and admire Farrell's voice's unapologetic power. However, many of the pieces blurred together since the word choice stayed the same as the imagery and metaphors were overly repetitive. The foundational subject matter and emotional beats of the poetry are solid, but I think further reworking and incorporating more descriptive “show not tell” imagery would make this collection really shine.
