In 2019 my health started going down hill and I didn't take into consideration what that would mean for my book reviewing. Sadly, I've been trying to play catch up for years and it's been affecting my ability to keep up with present day tasks. So I greatly apologize for this but I am going to clear out all these older review books and focus on present day. I will come back and update this review if I end up reading the book, which is very possible as a lot of these books are still ones I would like to read, I just don't think the pressure looming over me is helpful. Thank you for giving me a chance to early read these books and I am so sorry I wasn't able to provide what was needed.

This book was full of suspense and twists. I never knew what was going to happen next. The prologue was perfect and had me on the edge of my seat wondering what happened to Lilian.
Andy is a freelance writer who has been hired by Lillian to stay at her family home and write about the house and her brother, Linus’ disappearance. Andy thinks it’s just going to be a good paycheck and a place to stay for a few days. But instantly she is sucked into the mysteries of the house and town.
Linus and me had similar taste in books growing up. When I first started reading I thought about how this felt like a more grown up version of Nancy Drew type books. So when I got to the line about him reading Nancy, Hardy Boys and Sherlock Holmes, it just felt right. It also takes place in the 1980’s so it has that nostalgic afeel as well. I really liked that it wasn’t set in the present day because it added to the atmosphere of the story.
I like that there was a hint at a possible future romance, and I like that any romance takes a backseat to the plot and story.

"Green House Haunting" by Olivia York is the gripping first installment in the Andy Watts Ghost Column supernatural suspense series. Set in the 1980s, this novel masterfully blends elements of mystery, ghost story, and psychological thriller to create a captivating reading experience.
The story follows Andy Watts, a young woman in need of a break, who finds herself embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a terrible tragedy from the past. York's writing keeps readers on the edge of their seats as Andy attempts to uncover the haunted truth without succumbing to madness.
The author excels at creating a spooky atmosphere, with the eerie setting playing a crucial role in building tension throughout the narrative. York's ability to maintain suspense is particularly noteworthy, as she gradually reveals the layers of the mystery, keeping readers guessing until the very end.
Character development is a strong point in "Green House Haunting," with Andy Watts portrayed as a conflicted and relatable protagonist. Her struggles and determination to solve the mystery add depth to the story and keep readers invested in her journey.
The novel's pacing is well-executed, with the perfect balance of mystery and eeriness that leaves readers grasping the edge of their seats. York's skillful storytelling ensures that the supernatural elements blend seamlessly with the more grounded aspects of the plot, creating a cohesive and engaging narrative.
While the book is categorized as New Adult, its appeal extends to a broader audience, particularly those who enjoy supernatural suspense with a historical twist. The 1980s setting adds an interesting layer to the story, providing a unique backdrop for the haunting events that unfold.
In conclusion, "Green House Haunting" is a promising start to the Andy Watts Ghost Column series. With its compelling mix of mystery, supernatural elements, and psychological suspense, Olivia York has crafted a novel that will appeal to fans of ghost stories and thriller enthusiasts alike. Readers will find themselves eagerly anticipating the next installment in this unsettling and addictive series.

DNF at 35%. This was just not for me. It moved WAY too slowly and I was quite bored. Lots of stereotypical mystery tropes which I did not like. Also not a fan of any of the characters and failed to connect with any of them.
I did not care for the writing style, either.

Green House Haunting eerieness and spookiness 9/10, I love mystery and spooky books along with not being able to have the twist figured out. If you can do that when I’m reading then you’ve done an amazing job. 🤌🏻 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Green House Haunting; (Andy Watts Book 1) by Olivia York was interesting enough for me to already be ready for the sequel! I was truly thankful to have gotten to read this before most people! I would like to purchase this one for my physical library!

Andy aspires to be a respect reporter to honor her mother. She jumps at the chance to help solve an aged old mystery. Roadblocks are set in path to discover the truth about this mystery. The events that occurred makes her realize that there is reason why everyone is staying quiet. The story has a great plot and well-written characters. An adventurous thriller story.

This book has everything I love about thrillers. It's eerie, keeps me on the edge of my seat needing to know what's to come and scared to experience it at the same time. I love the storyline, the characters and I never saw or expected the twists this book took.

Book review :
Green House Haunting is the perfect level of mystery and eeriness that leaves you grasping the edge of your seat as you wait to see what happens next. This book was creepy and spooky, perfect for the upcoming Halloween season. I loved that there was a mystery to be solved and that this was an actual ghost story.
The story is set in a small town Cottage River in the early 1980’s where Andy is hired by the Ill mannered Lillian to write an article about her mother’s death and the disappearance of her little brother, Linus. Andy is to write her story while staying alone in the isolated “Green House” where the whole mystery began. As Lillian suspected, the Green House has a story to tell and Andy has the inquisitive mind and the guts to listen.
While the Green House has it’s haunting, Could Andy’s mother be seeking her out in this lonely house too?
The author has well penned the ghost story loaded with mystery, suspense, and some effective twists and turns. There’s a thread of loss that runs throughout. The thrill factor makes it more engrossing.
I enjoyed the book . I am thankful to netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review. I would certainly recommend this book to all horror book lovers.
Happy Reading!

Green House Haunting by Olivia York - 4/5
After a breakup between Andy Watts and her boyfriend she gets a new job and heads out to recollect her life. The new gig is about a woman wanting to get to the bottom of what truly happened to her brother decades before, never knowing if he is missing or murdered. When Andy starts this journalist job the house she comes across if haunted. This book has it all, mystery, it's spooky and still manages to surprise you with what is going to happen next.

Andy Watts has just broken up with her boyfriend. As a journalist she gets a new job to check out this old green house that is haunted. She just has to spend the night and write a story about it.
I didn't want to set the book down, it kept me waiting until the next page.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC and to the publisher Lilac Ink Books.

Green House Haunting starts out with Andrea/Andy going through a break up and having to find a new place to live. She looks at a newspaper hoping to find a freelance job. She finds one about a woman wanting to find out what really happened to her brother about a decade ago. If he went missing or if he was murdered.
Andy decides to take the job and gets on the bus to cottage river where she meets sheriff Hornsby. He takes her to the green house so she can start working. The next day she meets up with Lillian Mcvey at the local diner so she can ask her questions about her family and when was the last time she had seen them.
The whole book was so good and a little creepy. I read a lot at night which up’d the creep factor a lot. I really liked the book a lot. The ending was awesome and very surprising. I honestly didn’t see it coming.
Everyone needs to read this book. Preferably in the daytime because it’s creepy but in a good way where it keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

The Green House Haunting by Olivia York
This book has the spooky vibes! It was a perfect book to start off October for me. This is a great combination of mystery and paranormal. The twists and turns in this book kept my attention. I love a good book that gives you chills, and this book accomplished that. I loved that the author included so much of Andy’s back story. Andy is a freelance writer, who is down on her luck, she was hired by Lillian to write a story about her brothers disappearance and the old family home. Andy who is need of the cash and a place to stay, after a breakup from her boyfriend, agrees to take on the 2 day venture. Once Andy gets to the house, strange things begin to happen. I really enjoyed this book, and I couldn’t put it down. There is going to be a second book, and I can’t wait! This is a 5 star book! Check it out!

This slow paced mystery was difficult for me to engage, and I stopped after 30%. It may just not be my style of mystery as it felt over-written, and the plot and characters felt cliche. Perhaps this could suit somebody else who likes a more old-fashioned mystery.

While the Green House has it’s haunting, Andy is also haunted by the sudden loss of her mother when she was only six years old. Could Andy’s mother be seeking her out in this lonely house too?
Green House Haunting is a ghost story loaded with mystery, suspense, and some effective twists and turns. There’s a thread of loss that runs throughout. I enjoyed the book and will also think, of Lillian next time I encounter someone I think is rude and nasty….because one does not know the pain and burden that a person carries and how that changes their interactions with the world. Thank you #netgalley for this ARC of #GreenHouseHaunting.

If you haven’t noticed by now but it has been a very long time that I have reviewed any books. I cannot decide what I want to read anymore but when I came upon this book on Netgalley, I requested it immediately. This book looked so interesting, and you know what. I was right! I love reading Ghost stories. Though they need to be spooky and there has to be a creep factor.
I loved reading this book. I think I read it within a week. Though with my busy schedule I find it so hard to read and review the books. This book had a perfect level of mystery, and I loved all the creep factors. Green House Haunting had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I just wanted to know what would happen next by each paragraph.
Now this story is set in 1980 and it follows Andy, a freelance writer. Andy accepted a job to write a piece about an abandoned house on the request from Lillian. She had to stay at the house while writing the piece and Andy had to write what she thought happened to Lillian’s younger brother. Lillian’s younger brother has vanished when she was still a young child. Andy views this as a once in a lifetime opportunity but memories from her past start to overwhelm her. The darkness around the house isn’t helping the situation either.
Now if you haven’t noticed from this review already but I was hooked from the very first sentence. The only reason why I did not give this a five-star review WAS because I started to piece this story together in the middle of the book. As I love anything with mystery from to books to movies and TV series. I don’t like to piece things through in the middle of a story but at the end. Overall, I loved this book, and I will most certainly reread this book. I cannot wait for more books from this author.

I found myself hooked from the first chapter. The characters each brought something to the story and had edges to them that left me wanting more.
My only issue with the book (without mentioning any spoilers) is that halfway through I had started to piece together what had happened. I am a Nancy Drew when it comes to mysteries so it is of no fault of the authors though. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I would love to revisit it in the future.

This was just okay for me. Kinda slow moving in the beginning out picked up about 30% through but it still was not my favorite thanks NetGalley for the ARC

This book wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away either, it felt middle of the road. At the beginning I was really unsure about the writing style but it became much better by the end. I feel like I didn’t connect with any of the characters but it may be because I prefer first person pov when it comes to horror. The who done it was predictable which did not help the book. However I’m intrigued to see where this series is going.

It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did, I could not stop reading. Andy Watt wanted a story, and she got one heck of a doozy. I liked Andy with her doubts, her smarts, and even her past that held her in its grasp. The atmosphere of the house and all that happened kept me turning pages. A couple times I thought I had it figured out but was wrong. As Andy searched more, I got the answer along with her. I recommend this story and look forward to the next one in the series.
I received a copy of this story through Xpresso Tours, and this is my unsolicited review.
