Equal parts mystery and ghost story with a little psychological thriller thrown in, this book will keep you on your toes from start to finish. Set in the 1980s, Green House Haunting follows Andy Watts, a struggling freelance journalist who is pretty down on her luck. When Andy accepts a job that requires her to stay in an all but abandoned house and investigate the disappearance of a young boy from within its walls years earlier, she hopes it could be her big break. However, the longer Andy stays in Green House, the stranger things get, forcing her to confront not only her own dark past, but that of the house itself.
This book never let up -- something exciting, spooky, or strange happened on every page, which made it hard to put down. While I thought some pieces of the story were a bit predicable (I tend to prefer the Agatha Christie-esq unsolvable mysteries), I still look forward to reading the next installment in the series.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Lilac Ink Books, LLC and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Mystery, thrills and chills that had me hoping for more.

The spooky atmosphere in this book is 10/10. We start the story with this older woman, who is in the kitchen and right away we can tell how spooked by the house she is. We get some extra spooky/creepy stuff with strange noises, and doors opening on their own. Enter Andy a freelance writer who has just accepted a new gig. A couple of days staying in a house while she writes about the mystery of the missing boy who used to live there.
Right away the house gives her the willies... It's musty, and drafty, and feels heavy and like someone is watching.
As she begins to write, and question the people of the town who knew Linus it's obvious that they are all hiding something, she gets sucked deeper and deeper into this mystery... she NEEDS to find the truth, and won't stop until it's revealed.
This book was creepy and spooky, perfect for the upcoming Halloween season. I loved that there was a mystery to be solved and that this was an actual ghost story. I also enjoyed the maybe possible romance that was introduced, and I can't wait to see where that could go.

A mix of mystery and paranormal, an entertaining and well plotted story that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I liked the characters and the creepy level is right.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This was a great read with a solid and fast paced storyline. I really liked that there was a crime that needed solving, but the narrative focused predominately on the ghost story, which I felt was something fun and different.

This book was full of suspense and twists. I never knew what was going to happen next. The prologue was perfect and had me on the edge of my seat wondering what happened to Lilian.
Andy is a freelance writer who has been hired by Lillian to stay at her family home and write about the house and her brother, Linus’ disappearance. Andy thinks it’s just going to be a good paycheck and a place to stay for a few days. But instantly she is sucked into the mysteries of the house and town.
Linus and me had similar taste in books growing up. When I first started reading I thought about how this felt like a more grown up version of Nancy Drew type books. So when I got to the line about him reading Nancy, Hardy Boys and Sherlock Holmes, it just felt right. It also takes place in the 1980’s so it has that nostalgic afeel as well. I really liked that it wasn’t set in the present day because it added to the atmosphere of the story.
I like that there was a hint at a possible future romance, and I like that any romance takes a backseat to the plot and story.
I’m excited to read book 2 when it comes out in 2023.

Oh wow! This was exactly what I was hoping to read for spooky season! A cold case of a missing child and his murdered mother wrapped up in a ghost story.
Set in 1981, there's a nostalgic feel to it, a damaged heroine, broken families and the creepiest house you could find in the pacific northwest.
This is perfect for fans of Simone St James. I'm thrilled this is going to be a series
