What a gorgeous book with a great introduction. I love a new introduction to a classic and always hate having to wait until the end of the book to go back and read the introduction. A beautifully told story.

The Custom of the Country is being re-released with a new foreword from Sofia Coppola. The novel is a brilliant commentary on the upper class. The new cover is beautiful and fitting with the story. Highly recommended!

I have always enjoyed Wharton’s book. Perhaps a new generation will also. Historical fiction at its best…this author writes a cannot put down novel of those times when life seemed more simple,,,but was it? This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Cozy up in a comfy chair and enjoy this lovely author.

I have never read an Edith Wharton book but I always wanted too. I am glad The Custom of the Country was my first! This book is Ms. Wharton's commentary on the upper, wealthy class and the lengths that young girls would go to achieve wealth.

I enjoyed the writing and Sofia Coppola intro in the beginning of the story. I think the redesign of the cover will get a new generation to read her books!
