Adam Carstairs is the vicar in town; an ex- soldier who is trying to heal from the scars of war and the death of his brother. He has hardened his heart trying to protect it from hurt again.

Lady Reminington Hartfield has had a rough childhood. Born to parents who loathe each other, she is passed between them as neither wants to deal with her. When she saves a fox from her father’s traps, it is the last straw and he tells her not to come home until she will apologize and behave.

Adam helps Remy to settle in with some friends and speak with her father, but her father is set on marrying her off to be rid of her. Remy is terribly hurt by her fathers lack of love and turns to Adam to help her learn what love looks like so she will recognize it. But she has one week to find a husband or her father will find him for her. While Adam helps her through this time, she tries to convince him that he has feelings for her. In the end, she is able to melt his heart and they get their HEA.

This was a short, cute book. Remy was a bit juvenile for me and forward in her affection towards Adam. At times, she felt silly and, where I felt Adam should be annoyed, he was simply quiet. Overall, an easy read and I may try another book in the series in the future.

This is part of The Book of Love series and it is a wonderful addition. Ms. Platt's writing style is captivating and I easy got pulled into the story from the very start. Lady Remi is a kind and charming soul and despite the dismissiveness and demands of her family, she doesn't let it get her down. But she still yearns to be loved by someone, something her family does not really provide her. Adam has closed off and built walls around his heart because of past pain and loss. When Remi meets him, she sees a wounded soul who she wants to help. When the Book of Love helps her realize she loves Adam, she will do anything she can to convince him to take a chance on her.
This was a lovely and romantic story that was highly entertaining and enjoyable. The relationship that developed between Remi and Adam was sweet and beautiful to see. They have wonderful chemistry and I was easily pulled into their story. A lovely addition to this delightful series!

This novella installment in The Book of Love series by Meara Platt is an absolute delight. Platt's writing is easy and accessible, her pacing works perfectly in this sweet and quick read, and she charms and delights with a light sensuality. Platt's The Book of Love series is a charming universe in which a book helps to guide each hero and heroine to their ultimate happily ever after. These novels are fun, with an element of insta-love, but are built around an expansive group of people who want the best for each other as this "magical" book is passed from person to person.

In this novella, Lady Remi's biggest dream is to find love, she has been cast from her father's house and turned to the handsome vicar-Adam, for help. Adam has built a wall around his heart after witnessing his brother's death during the war, so he has found a small bit of refuge in his vicarage far from his family in Scotland. Can Remi scale Adam's walls and show him he is worthy of love and forgiveness.

Lady Remi is a charming heroine, her family is very demanding and dismissive of her, but she never lets this wear her down. Remi has a wonderful value of worth in herself, she knows what she wants, and she will do what is best for her even if it means defying her father. Remi is also very kind hearted and really seeks to help those around her, so as she grows to understand Adam, she sees his wounded heart and wishes to help him. Adam is a kind and noble hero, he holds a lot of weight on his shoulders and it is really gratifying to see Adam open up to Remi and learn that he does not need to shoulder his burden alone. This heartwarming story really shows the strength of choosing to open yourself up to love and the joy and contentment in building your own loving family. I love that Remi can open Adam up and shows him that love his family holds for him and giving him back the gift of family and comfort.

Meara Platt is definitely an author worth exploring. I have been charmed by the novels of hers that I have picked up and after finishing them I am interesting in exploring more. I would definitely recommend trying out a Platt novel if you have yet to have the opportunity.

This is such a great series!
Lady Remi Hartfield has never known love from her parents, and dreams of having love someday. She saves a fox from her father's hunt, and must hide in Vicar Adam Carstairs church. Adam is the local vicar who was heartbroken when his brother died in his arms, and continues to struggle with the memories.
Adam and Remi overcome much to get their HEA.
Highly recommend this book and series!

Lady Remi’s father has run out of the barely there patience he had with her. After a lifetime of being shuffled back and fourth between her unloving parents she’s left with nowhere to go when her father throws her out. Adam the local vicar is on hand to offer her assistance. Her father demands that she either come to apologize and beg his forgiveness or go find a husband. Remi decides the husband she wants is Adam too bad he’s built a fortress around his heart and tries to keep her at a distance. With the help of her friends and the book of love she intends to scale his walls and convince Adam that they are the perfect match.

I liked Remi and Adam... her parents sucked. I’ve read at least half the books in the series so I’m familiar with the whole set up and how the book works. It’s not really magical even though it seemed like it. I always love the covers. Eventually I will get around to reading the books I’ve missed. It was a good read short and sweet. You can’t help but want to hug Remi cause really her parents suck.

Lady Remington Hartfield has cold uncaring parents, whm have never shown her love . She loves animals, and constantly breaks the rules for being a proper lady. Vicar Adam Carstairs is kind, compassionate, and protective. When he rescues her from her angry father, Remi cannot help but fall in love. Absolutely loved this story and can't wait to read the others.

Sweet, Heartwarming, Regency Romance

This story is about two people who needed each other. Remi was not given love, but somehow, she learned how to give it. When she rescued a fox from her father’s machinations, he decided not to allow her to go home. To call him a cad would be an understatement. Remi sought refuge at the church. However, the vicar was a bachelor, and to keep her reputation, Remi stayed with friends. Armed with The Book of Love and her heart, she had a week to convince Adam to take a chance on love. Would she manage it? Adam had much pain in his heart, but there was a lot of love, too. This novella was an absolute delight to read. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to those who like heartwarming, Regency romance.

This novella was an actual “dream of love”! Vicar Adam and Lady Remington, more known a Remi, had such a sweet yet sensual relationship. The care they had for each other was clearly seen and Remi was obviously as smitten with Adam as he was with her even if Adam didn’t show it. Their first kiss was heatedly proper (you’ll get what I mean when you read it) and just made me crave for more! I loved how Remi was strong and observant and ladylike, and how she believed so much in the book her friends were saying helped them (and others) find love. I really liked how the reality of women during that time (17-19th century) was shown since, in my opinion, it’s important that it’s made known and that continuous change for the better happens. The chemistry was amazing, the plot was too even though it was short, and the book made me believe in love as much as Remi did!

Absolute cheers to the author! This is now one of my favorite novellas ever and will remain so!

Lady Remington Hartfield has never been loved by her parents. All she wants is to be loved by someone. Vicar Adam Carstairs has built a wall around his heart. Pain from loss, he's cautious about opening his heart to love. Remi is given the Book of Love and learns how to use all her senses. Adam is the one she loves. She needs to find a way to convince him to take a chance on love. A short clean romance with a happy ending. There's that book again.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Sigh. Yes, I will go ahead and get it over with!! I adore this series, as I say every time, but it never grows old and continues to warm my heart.

Two people who truly need each other and it seems the Book works it's magic again. Although I begin to think it is the catalyst to create a dream that can be found!!

Loved Remington and Adam are both running but luckily, their journey takes off together!! Thank you Meara!

I adored this novella. Remi is such a kind soul that she pulls on your heartstrings from the first page. Adam is as well but has built a stone fortress around his heart and it seems like she's the only one that can tear it down.
This story is what I would call warm and cozy. It has it's bits of action and suspense but in the end it I felt all warm and fuzzy. Loved it.

Lady Remington Hartfield is a desperately unhappy young woman. Her family life has never been good, she does things that usually sends her father into a rage.

Vicar Adam Carstairs has buried himself behind emotional walls and uses his clerical collar to keep people away.

This historical romance has characters that are as opposite from each other as it's possible to be. You can't help but feel the emotion behind them. There is humour to lighten the mood, and some very good friends that you might have met in previous stories in the series. Each book can be read on it's own.

Good fun.

Remington Hartfield only has known love from friends but never from family.
Adam Carstairs tries to save everyone but himself. These two will save each other.
Another book of love to enjoy. I absolutely love to love these books. Always entancing and worth the time to read.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book

Sweet, romantic, and entertaining this novel has one smiling from the first sentence as lady Remington takes refuge in the village church. Vicar Adam Carstairs is almost as exasperated with her as her irate father, as it is not the first time she has embroiled him in her escapades. But this time is different as Remi's father, who has very little time for his daughter, decides that he will tame her once and for all, or find her a husband that will take her off his hands. Taking Remi to a safe place does not let Adam off the hook as he finds himself being the go-between her and her malevolent father, but when the Book of Love falls into her hands, Adam's days as a bachelor are numbered. This delightful and romantic novella comes to a happy conclusion and Remi finally gets all the hugs she has ever longed for. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lady Remington Hartfield has cold uncaring parents, loves animals, and constantly breaks the rules for being a proper lady. Vicar Adam Carstairs is kind, compassionate, and protective. When he rescues her from her angry father, Remi cannot help but fall in love. Still carrying guilt from the war and the death of his brother, Adam may take a while longer to open his heart. Adam and Remi are an awesome couple. Theirs is a lovely story of finding love and acceptance, of themselves and each other. It might be the catalyst Adam needs to find his way back home. A short well-written tale with another tip of the hat to the Book of Love. Loved it!

a warm and wonderfully sweet romance. Adam has war memories that are overwhelming to his heart. Remi is a trial to her uncaring parents and just wants love but can she breakdown the walls of Adam’s heart?
One in a series of books using the book of love and this story contributes to its success but can be read as a standalone.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋

This is a character who I loved when I first met him in a previous book, begged for his own HEA, Thank you Meara, you’ve done him proud.

Never imagined Adam Carstaires with the Hoyden of the village, but Remi is also sweet, beautiful, protective, passionate and very loving.
Adam takes some persuasion, or does he, has he always had a soft spot for the hellion?

A wonderful, lighthearted, and entertaining read.
Great stuff!
Looking forward to reading Gavins book, that’s if Meara gives him some love.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

So beautiful. This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read. Historical fiction.

Love is the one thing Lady Remington Hartfield has never had in her life, cast out by her overbearing and demanding father, dismissed by her self-absorbed and apathetic mother, she does not know where else to turn for help but Wellesford’s handsome vicar, has always been kind and protective of her. Vicar Adam Carstairs has built stone walls around his heart, determined never to let anyone in again after watching his beloved and gentle brother die in his arms during the war. His brother was meant for the clergy and should never have been on a battlefield. Then Lady Remi burst into his life.
A short well written charming read. The characters have depth & I really liked both Adam & Remi & I also loved their journey to a HEA. Both had lots of baggage but I loved Remi for not giving up, the chemistry & attraction between them was there from the start
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

A short novella where things moved along quickly as you would expect but still packed with the usual sweet characters as you would expect from this author. I only wish the story were longer although it did do all you needed it to do and the rush was needed to get Adam to act. Although published before hadn't read it which was a blessing. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
