The McElroy brothers can do no wrong. Even though I know this story arc by heart thanks to TAZ in podcast form, it’s exciting and wonderful to see it in graphic form.

The McElroys never fail to wow me and this book was no exception.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for my sample of The Adventure Zone: The Eleventh Hour.

First off I love the art in this book series. Carey Pietsch is an amazing artist. Second the plot is just filled with everything you could want from a book. Romance, mystery, found family trope, and action. I cannot wait for this book to be released!

I received free advance chapters of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This might be my favorite arc in The Adventure Zone podcast, so I've been dying to get here in the graphic novel series. It does not disappoint.

The crew burst through a protective bubble arriving in Refuge where they meet some interesting town-folk, including Roswell, who appears to be a sentient suit of armor with a talking bird. As they're still trying to dig into exactly what is going on in Refuge and track down the relic, everything EXPLODES. Literally.

BUT! the crew wakes up, back at the entrance to town at exactly the same time they first entered the bubble, standing in front of Roswell who has no memory of their previous meeting.

What happens next? Get your own copy and find out!

OKAY I already know I am going to love this whole thing because I desperately love the podcast. This is one of my favorite arcs of the whole series so I'm thrilled to be able to read even a little bit of it early! The art looks amazing as always! The characters feel true to themselves and the story seems to be going great!

I'm really loving just the end of this sampler where they inserted certain memories into the end of the first loop. A PERFECT little transitional moment.

I need the whole thing to be here already please!

In the most gut-wrenching arc yet, the McElroy family returns as Merle Highchurch, Magnus Burnsides, Taako Taako, and the Game Master to find and retrieve another missing high relic. They arrive in a quaint desert town and just when all seems to be taking off, they explode and die… or did they? Carey Piestch also returns with stunning illustrative talent, hilarious expressions, and fun little Easter eggs from the podcast that the graphic novels are based on. Enjoy this next installment in The Balance Arc of the Adventure Zone!

As always, The Adventure Zone is a really fun read, especially if you've listened to the podcast! This is probably my favorite arc of the podcast, so I'm very excited to read the entire book when it's released!

Stunningly crafted, the McElroys, Pietsch and the team's adaptation mirrors the heart of the McElroy family's campaign and adds in a collective charm of their own. The pacing, hand in hand with the composition and color of artwork in each page, brought about great balance (no pun intended) with how the story is retold in a comic format — making sure to truly bring both new readers and longtime fans back into the feeling of each moment, each scene.

I especially love the part where the paneling disintegrates to reveal one of Taako's memories. It was one of my most favorite parts of the podcast and I am extremely grateful for how much care and impact that the team had placed onto the scene — it was just as hard-hitting as when I first listened to it in audio form. Very eager to read the full graphic novel when it comes out!

I am a huge fan of The Adventure Zone so I love this graphic novel. I own all the other ones and I can't wait to get my hands on this one, so I was so happy to be able to get a sample of it early. I love how they adapt it from the podcast, it makes the story so much more streamlined while also keeping the humor and jokes in as well. The characters are so loveable and I root for them the whole time. I can't wait for the next one!

The Adventure Zone: The Eleventh Hour SAMPLER is a lovely look into the graphic novel of the same title coming out in February of 2023. The graphic novel does a wonderful job adapting the plot of the Eleventh Hour arc of The Adventure Zone: Balance campaign into something that both newcomers and those familiar with the happenings of the original podcast will enjoy. As someone who listened to the original podcast episodes, this sampler reminded me of how much I love this story. The colors are vibrant and the new outfits are amazing! I will be eagerly awaiting the release of the full graphic novel.

As both a listener of the original source material for this story and as a reader of some previous issues, this is an arc that is particularly interesting and challenging. Due to the setup the setting needs there is quite a bit of info-dumping at the beginning, and I felt pages were text heavy for 5-10 pages. I don't think the info-dumping would be as noticeable if the conversation had extended to more pages with less text per bubble. The art is consistent throughout, it's colorful and has a very imaginative fantasy/futuristic setting. I also love the character designs, particularly for Deputy Roswell and Angus, they play with proportion while still being very recognizable. The interjected character/spell/tool boxes help limit exposition for anyone without prior reading (or who hasn't read previous editions in a while), however occasionally the lettering is difficult to read. The paneling is creative in format, but not confusing, you don't have to decipher the flow of reading but it isn't formulaic. As for writing, I love the way they throw in nonchalant little quips and everyone continues as normal as if it isn't making me laugh out loud. I think it speaks to the characterization of the main three and propels the silly and fun tone of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this sample, and cannot wait to read the rest of the edition!

I've been wanting to get more into graphic novels and even though I'm not familiar with Adventure Zone at all I decided to give this sampler a try because it looked really fun. And it was! The illustrations are gorgeous and colorful and immersive, and I honestly had a great time. I love a time loop story and I can't wait to read the rest of this one!

This was the first time looking into this series. I love the DND aspect of the book, and this preview really made me want to pick up the book and finish the story.

I'm a huge fan of the Adventure Zone podcast and previously published graphic novels, so I had pretty high hopes for this to continue the story -- and I can't wait for this to come out to read it in its entirety!

Spoilers alert: The gang is on another hung for a Great Relic, and this time it seems like we're dealing with some Back to the Future rubber band effects in a temporal bubble that seems like it's gonna pop sooner rather than later. The art is as always absolutely stunning. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story,

February can't come soon enough.

As fun and thrilling as the podcast it’s based off of, The Adventure Zone: Eleventh Hour takes us to a sleepy desert town wrapped in a deep secret. This story follows Taako, Magnus, and Merle as they recover relics from a world gone by.
