A Midsummer Night’s Scheme by Harper Kincaid (Book Binding Mystery #2) 4 stars

A sequel to 2020 “To Kill A Mocking Girl” we find Quinn Caine, bookbinding specialist is enjoying an outdoor concert with her dog, Ruff Barker Ginsburg and her boyfriend, longtime crush, Detective Aiden Harrington. A surprise guest at the concert is Chad Frivole, Tony Award winning Broadway star and former citizen of Vienna, VA who is on hand to announce his plans to open a regional theatre in town. However, all is not “coming up Roses” with Chad, because while he was in high school, he left a string of broken hearts and angry women behind him. When he is killed in an unusual fashion there are suspects galore. But when Sebastian, Quinn’s brother is almost hurt in a similar fashion, it is up to Quinn to figure out who the real murderer is or her brother may end up in the morgue.

The mystery plot was interesting and action packed. I enjoyed the interaction between all the supporting characters. There is an interesting romantic subplot with Sister Daria (aka cousin Elizabeth) that looks like it will carry on into the next book. This was a fun read and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

Love the title and the quotes…this book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Likable quirky characters…love and romance…family and friends…mystery…good times…this is a quick fun story. Curl up in
your favorite chair with a warm cozy blanket and be transported…enjoy these characters who come alive on the pages of this novel. What will they do next? Getting in each other’s business makes the book even better…

I enjoyed this book. It’s a light read. The characters are great. I was surprised by who the killer is especially as she’s rarely mentioned in the book.
