This series is very unique, in that I thought it would be a horror series when I started, and it is, but it's also action, fantasy, and science fiction. I suppose that was the idea. It does all mesh into a great story. Sometimes it does cross the line into what I consider "hard sci fi", which I'm not a fan of. The books also feel longer than they need to be, as I think this could have been edited down and been stronger, but that's just me.
