With every Sarah Sundin book, I get a bit of a history lesson as well...these are 'living literature lessons' for adults. (And it's my preferred teaching method in our homeschool) In this story, we travel to Denmark, walking alongside members of the Danish Resistance as they fight tirelessly, and alone, to protect their loved ones during WW2. One of the players is known as the Havmand, a mer-man, who rows the Sound between Denmark and Sweden to carry important resistance intelligence. Another is Else, an American physicist who walks the precarious line of intelligent females in this day, along with her resistance work. Their stories intertwine with real-world players to bring the reader a snapshot of WW2 history like no other!
