This is really more a set of short stories than it is a novel. It was enjoyable enough to read. Each story has it's own sexy bits. They were okay, but they were hampered by things like "he yowled as he came." There was more than one yowling. Just say no to yowling orgasms please. Cats in heat yowl. No.

The princes are sons of Morrigan, the raven goddess. Each has a destined mate. The story is based in ancient Ireland with lots of Gaelic. Very atmospheric.

The book has 3 parts, Niall's story (M/F), Diarmuid's (M/F), and then Petran's (M/M), and then afterwards we read about Oscar (M/F) out of succession. I feel like the author could have found a way to put Oscar's story properly into the book rather than having it as an aside. The stories, aside from Oscar's, happen in chronological order, so although these are more like short stories, you do still get to follow up with characters you had previously read about.

The writing was akin to Le Guin for me, kind of floaty fantasy if that makes any sense to anyone other than me. It was a decent read, quick, but not as deep as I would have preferred. I'd still be interested in reading the next one.
