Wow. I literally have no words to explain how obsessed I am with this book! First off I’d like to say thank you to Netgalley for this ARC! Guys this book is AMAZING! I love how Ava, our fmc, never bowed down to anyone, held her head high, and kept her first personality throughout the entire story! This book as the action, the forbidden romance, the EVERYTHING! I’ve been looking for a great fantasy romance book forever and this 100% what I was looking for. It literally took everything in me to put this book down. The tension, the lust, desire, and banter between the characters was just incredible. I also love how this book has a bit of underlying mystery which gave me strong TOG vibes! Plus the world building was great and soo easy to follow!

I would recommend this book to ANYBODY and I’m so incredibly excited for the other books in this series!

This feels like the start of a really good series! Fairly gory in parts, little bit of spice and lots of mystery! I really connected with the main characters and can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you for letting me read this! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You can never go wrong with Fae. Ava has become one of my favorite characters!

I thought Frost was excellent, I feel like I am so used to Fae and Humans being at odds in Fantasy books that this was very refreshing to see the humans were in awe of the Fae (As I would be, too, lol).

The story follows Ava, a fae raised in the human world, who knows little about the fae world because she was adopted. After finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her (on her birthday, no less), she drunkenly gives the high Fae King, Torin, a piece of her mind after running into him at a bar. Torin knowing he would never fall for Ava but seeking a queen to save to faerie world, asks Ava to participate in a tournament with 100 other women to battle to become Queen. The only catch? Torin doesn't want love but needs a Queen, and Ava refuses to love again but needs the 50 million dollars Torin promises her to be his Queen for a short time. What could go wrong?

I liveeee for Torin, and although there was no real smut in the book, the sexual tension was allll the way there. I loved the story and can't wait to see where it picks up from here!

This was great reading. I love CN's way of writing.

I read the book in one go and fell in love with the plot's heroes Ava and Torin. The world is fascinating and I cannot wait for the next book.

What happens when you plan your whole life with someone, only to find them in bed with an actress? The only reasonable reaction is to throw hot curry on them and then start a drunk altercation with the Seelie King. When Ava awakes with a raging hangover after doing just that, the king makes her an offer. $50 million to compete for the throne. He needs a queen who he can never love, and she needs the money. So what could go wrong? But the world of the Fae is far more treacherous and full of secrecy than she could have predicted.

The humor and banter in this book is top tier. Ava and Torin are both so hellbent on disliking each other that their compliments are insults, and the insults are compliments. It's endlessly entertaining, and readers will find themselves smiling nonstop. The pining and attraction between them is palpable, as Crawford seems to be an expert in creating tension and keeping it, never letting the characters give in too quickly.

The major drawback readers will find is that it's almost too similar to her other works. If you've read The Demon Queen's Trials series, reading Frost might feel really familiar. Does that mean it's unenjoyable? Absolutely not. Readers will still love every angsty, tropey, tension-filled moment.

I'm giving it four out of five stars. Entertaining and a killer opening for what's to come next. The cliffhanger was perfectly executed and will leave readers begging for the next installment immediately.

I got an ARC for this book from NetGalley and I didn’t expect to get HOOKED that hard. When I say I cannot wait for the next book, this is an understatement!

If you like dark slow burn romance and dark and hot Alfa male fae love interests, this book is for you! If you like magic tangled with the modern world, this book is for you! If you like to be sucked into a book without the chance to think about anything else until you read it all, this book is for you!

This book is amazing and I cannot wait for the next one.

Gonna binge the authors work now!

I did find the plot for this very predictable. However, that didn’t detract from the enjoyment for me.

Ava is a fae that has lived in the human world her entire life. Through a series of events she ends up in a life and death competition for the hand of the fae king, Torin.

Though fairly formulaic, it’s a plot line that I love. Kickass FMC taking the competition by surprise and the origin reveal storyline along with an almost enemies to lovers trope (more like I find you annoying than enemies though).

Can’t wait for the next one, especially with that cliffhanger…

3.5 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

"'It seems that humans desire above all else is entertainment, so that is what I will give them.'"

Frost is the first novel in a New Adult Fantasy Romance series, Frost and Nectar. This novel follows he character Ava, a fae who has been lived and raised amongst the humans, banished from entering the fae world. One her birthday she experienced a horrific betrayal from the man she loved and in a drunken moment, insults the powerful fae king. Instead of punishing her for her insolence he offers her a deal - $50 million dollars to participate in bride competition and win it. Yet as Ava begins these trials she realizes the stakes are so much higher than she thought as her life and heart are on the line.

Ava and Torin are both fascinating characters in this slow burn angsty romance. Ava is still grappling with the ending of her relationship and being immersed into the fae world after being locked out of it for so long creates an adjustment period - yet Ava doesn't let it stop her from being fierce. Torin is the epitome of a tortured hero as a fae cursed to kill anyone he falls in love with. Yet he must marry to save his kingdom. I felt the angst between these two so much during this book. There are a few really good moments where the heat strings are really tugged and gave me what I call "the feels." At the same time I wish there were more moments of this in the book. This is a steamy book but little to no spice and I felt that took away from some of the angst evolving.

"Our kiss was the first star in a night sky - a spark of light surrounded by darkness."

I also want to highlight the amazing side character, Shalini, who may have been a human but her personality and flare sparked magic across the pages. There are quite a few times where I had to stop reading to laugh at the comedic value she provided. She deserves her own book in the future.

“'Is it just me…or is this place creepy?'
'Not just you,' Shalini whispered back. 'A forest full of children’s pictures hanging from trees is unquestionably creepy as fuck.'”

In terms of plot, I felt the beginning and ending were really strong. The premise hooks you in but I felt the middle was a little slow as it was trying to mimic the bachelor-esque style which wasn't my favourite. I preferred where we started to see the Hunger Games combat style in the contest. The last 30% was my absolutely favourite and I am left with so many questions and theories that I need answered. This does end with a bit of a cliff hanger.

Overall, I felt Frost is a book with excellent promise, a fascinating world, and so many loose threads I am just dying to dug on. I would like to see more of the romance developed in the second book but I will definitely pick up the next one to see what happens next. This is an excellent book for those who love fae, angsty romance, forbidden love, contests, sword fighting, court intrigue, and so many secrets.

I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley.

Frost by C.N. Crawford is not my first book by the author so I wasn’t surprised when I throughly enjoyed and devoured this book in a day! A four star read!

Ava Jones is a fae living in a human’s world. She has no idea who her real parents are. Her only family left is her boyfriend who she finds on her 26th birthday cheating on her. She is left homeless, infuriated rightly so and drinks her feelings at a local bar with her best friend. It is televised that the high fae king Torin is looking for the new seelie Queen in their traditional tournament but it will be aired on TV for the first time ever. King Torin then shows up at that same bar for a drink and a highly intoxicated Ava tells him off.

The seelie king must choose a wife but not one for love as his family has been cursed so Ava is the perfect candidate for this marriage of convenience.

This book is so fast paced! Right away it pulls you in with the drama. It’s a mix of urban fantasy with high fantasy and the world building is super easy to follow. King Torin is the ruler of six fae clans each have a princess who will compete in the tournament. I enjoyed how all are viscous in their own ways. The tournament is basically a mix of the hunger games and the bachelorette and truly gets dark and gory!

Ava and Torin’s relationship has its ups and downs but I loved the tension they had. They really fight their true feelings for each other and for a reason. I wish the book was longer and delved into some other aspects more because they aren’t to be spoken about. We are left with a decent cliffhanger that will seem to have a high impact on the next book for both Torin and Ava!

I cant wait for the second book and definitely recommend this book if you like an easy read with some dark fae mixed with urban fantasy!

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and of course C.N. Crawford for providing me with an eARC of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review, all opinions are my own.

This was my first book by C.N. Crawford, but I doubt it'll stay that way for long- I couldn't put this one down. I love that it's a couple writing together, I will definitely be checking out more of their books.

I love anything to do with Fae and varying versions of the lore behind it. This was such a quick read and a good delve into this new world. I'm also a sucker for the competition books, so this fit the bill on multiple accounts for me and I loved that.

I really enjoyed the magic and with that ending, I can't wait to see how this plays out. Definitely recommend for those looking for a darker Fae romance with some intriguing world-building.

This was pretty good! It’s a super quick read about the Fae and sets up what should be a really great series. The MC Ava is a Fae who was abandoned in the mortal world and raised among humans. When she gets cheated on by her boyfriend on her birthday, she gets drunk and runs into the Fae king Torin and basically tears him a new one. Torin is having a competition for the next queen and decides Ava would be perfect because he wants someone that he couldn’t actually love due to a secret curse on his family. He offers to pay her 50 million to enter the competition and sit on the throne for a few months to restore power to Faerie and then they can part ways.

The slow burn and sexual tension between Ava and Torin was great, there isn’t really any spice in this one but I’m excited to see how their relationship develops in future books. The competition to become queen reminded me of The Bachelor (which I love) and I liked how it was televised for the humans. It was actually pretty brutal at times and the women will literally kill each other to win, I was afraid for Ava even knowing she would survive. I loved all of the secrets and the ending was so good, I cannot wait to find out more about Ava and her past!

Thank you to NetGalley and C.N. Crawford for the ARC!

“It’s the sad truth, that most relationships are doomed.”

Frost begins with a hopeful Ava Jones filled with excitement and plans for a future with her dream of a man, Andrew. Ava comes home early with some Indian food to celebrate with her man on her 26th birthday - but the ultimate surprise is finding that it’s not a loud porn video but instead another woman in their bed. Ava’s whole world comes crumbling and luckily she has her best friend Shalini to help distract her with news of Torin, King of Seelie, holding a “Bachelor”-esque tournament (a show making $150 million per episode!) to find his Queen. This competition is open to 100 fae-women.

Ava believes she was given up for adoption by her fae parents - she was raised in the human world by a woman named Chloe - Ava has big dreams of opening up her cocktail bar named after her mom. Torin ends up at the bar that Ava is at and she gives him a piece of her mind. Of course, this leads to Torin offering her $50 million to participate. Her and Shalini are well taken care of in Faerie at the castle. The king needs a queen in order to replenish his magic, but Torin is not one for love - so he’d rather just plan to choose Ava and give her the power to divorce him later on. They train behind the scenes to make sure Ava can keep up with the other fae in the competition.

Of course, these enemies do have some steamy moments where you think they may become lovers. The competition is FIERCE. I will confidently proclaim that this is not for the faint of heart. If you thought the Bachelor was vicious, imagine if you gave those women swords and had them fighting one another. BRUTAL!

"I glanced down at the ground where Sydoc's blood was already freezing - just another layer of ice."

The last 10% of the book was absolutely wild. Moira as a character absolutely terrifies me. The final duels are incredibly captivating (aka STRESSFUL!!!).

There of course are some interesting twists and turns that keep things interesting - we end on quite the cliffhanger that has me eager to continue the series to find out what happens next with Ava and Torin!

I would have liked to see more detail within the tournament itself - more interactions between the women and getting to know the secondary characters a bit better, but overall I give this book 4 stars! I really liked that our FMC was a bit older, 26 years old - same age as King Torin. Usually, young adult fantasy books have ladies in their later teens - early-20's, so it was nice to have a more mature female lead in this case getting married "older" than typical stories.

I would recommend this book for fantasy fans of the enemies to lovers trope with badass ladies wielding swords. It’s extremely fast-paced and will have you feel like you’re watching a reality tv show…but even better because there’s fae!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and C.N Crawford for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are my own.

3 Stars because this book annoyed me as much as I loved it at the same time

This book takes a really interesting take at the possibility of the human realm existing next to fae realm (Faerie). In this story we meet our FMC, who is Fae in human realm, wight when she finds out that her boyfriend was cheating on her. When she is trying to drink her sorrow away at the local pub a Fae king comes in and they get in a fight. This far king is looking for his next queen and is in the human reals to invite some of the 50 contestant to compete for his hand. To make the matter worse it would be televised in the human reals like some sort of bachelor shenanigans.

Now said that, this books is absolutely ridiculous… but did I read in one day and loved it a lot? YES

It is so hard to leave a review and be very objective. The FMC is introduced as a baddie that stands up for herself and yet, through the whole book she is pining and whining for the kind and just wants to be loved again, EVEN-THOUGH she said she was done with male attention. The king, Torin, is actually really cool, I really enjoyed reading about his character and is obviously 100000% the Rhysand from ACOTAR. Is that bad? No I freaking love Rhys.
Even tho the plot is good, in the end, nothing actually is done with the whole human tv show part of the plot and I think it could’ve been just taken out of it completely. I actually very intrigued about the Faerie world that they are in and would love some more (and better) world building

Spice was good, even-though there is no explicit stuff and they actually don’t do it, there is so much ants going on between those two, like get a room and do it already. So I would say it is an NA fantasy but written more in the YA style minus spice (because of boy C.N. Crawford can write spice!).

In the end this book left me wanting more, so I guess it was a success read.

Everyone, you need to put this book on your TBR at once. Frost is perfect for lovers of fae romance, enemies to lovers, hidden powers, and slow burn. If you enjoyed any of C.N. Crawford's other books you will love this new series. I for one loved the Demon Queen Trials trilogy. Frost had me on the edge of my seat and laughing my ass off which seem to be very opposite reactions but fit this book perfectly. The world-building is simple and easy to understand, the characters are wonderful and their interactions are perfect. I love when authors make sure they give their side characters actual stories instead of leaving them bland and one-dimensional. I can say that I devoured this book, and I can't wait to get my hands on the book 2. I would give this a 1/5 spice level, 4.5/5 stars, and would categorize this as New Adult.
This story follows Ava a far living in the human world who had just hit rock bottom, in like the worst possible way. I legit wanted to strangle a certain prick through the entire book if you know you know. As Ava is drowning her sorrows in comes the sexy Seelie King Torin who just seems to get under her skin, in a good and bad way. After Ava tears him a new one about his sham of bride competition and suddenly she has his attention. He proposes a deal, that he needs a fake marriage and in return, Ava gets 50 million dollars. Who could possibly turn down that deal? Well, he forgot to mention that the other females competing are ruthless and Ava just might lose her life if she's not careful. But maybe swearing off love was harder than Ava thought, and now she's got more than just her life on the line.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5. - Couldn't put it down!

This is my first book from C.N. Crawford and now I feel like I've been missing out! I loved this book so much that I devoured it in one sitting! Literally - 10 pm to 2 am 🤣. I was hooked from the start.

We meet Ava, a fae abandoned to the human world as an infant, with her world in shambles after a disastrous birthday. Hurt and resenting men, Ava insults and refuses to bow down to the Seelie King Torin during his tour to invite potential brides to compete for position of future queen in Faerie. Cursed to freeze anyone he falls in love with, Torin needs a short-term queen to replenish magic in Faerie then leave. He finds the perfect candidate in Ava and they come to an agreement. Still needing to compete, Ava must rely on Torin to help her stay alive during the brutal challenges. Can Ava win the competition without magic against those who would do anything to be queen? Will she find out her true heritage and discover why she was abandoned?

✔️ Strong FMC
✔️ Fae royalty
✔️ Fierce competition elimination-style
✔️ Slow burn romance
✔️ Marriage of convenience
✔️ Hidden origin
✔️ Dual POV
✔️ Low spice 0.5 /5

The book was an incredible read. It has plenty of action, easy to follow world building, and an air of mystery and suspense. I have a good feeling I'll be adding this to my bookshelf. Note it ends on a cliffhanger. This book hasn't even been released yet and I'm dying for the next one!

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thankyou Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book in return for an ARC. I was immediately captured but the story!

Both Ava and Torin have such depth and soul to their characters which just makes me want to follow along for their journey, and the sexual tension *chefs kiss*.

The layers of story and secrets just made me want to keep reading, and I think I have more questions than answers at this point but I'm heavily invested with ava in finding out who her parents were! And I'm here for the ride!

I Can't wait to see where this story takes us.

Ava has just had the worst birthday ever! Not only did she walk in on her boyfriend sleeping with a wanna-be actress named Ashley but now while trying to drown her sorrows at the local bar, the Seelie King has now shown up look for Fae to complete in his ridiculous Marriage Tournament and is now expect her to bow to him? Oh God Ava no!

Lucky for us Ava has quite the wit and puts King Torin is his place! But this is exactly what King Torin is looking for! Someone he could never love because he harbour's a dark secret!

The king offers Ava 50 million dollars to compete in this bride Tournament. Who can say no to fifty mil!!! But is fifty Million worth the risk of death? Because the Fae are ruthless and this isn't just any ole competition!

Ava will have to navigate cut-throat fae princess all vying for the kings hand while also trying to find where she belongs in this world.

On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman. Within hours, I’m drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever. And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me.
Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen. But for reasons he won’t explain, Torin is looking for a charade, not a real marriage. So when I drunkenly sling insults his way, I have his attention.
When Torin offers me fifty million to participate, I think, “What have I got to lose?” The answer turns out to be “my life,” because my competition will literally kill for the crown.
And the more time I spend with the seductive king, the harder it becomes to remember it’s all supposed to be fake. Now, my life and my heart are on the line.
Can’t wait for the next book really enjoyable read totally recommend

Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC of Frost by C.N Crawford. I was excited about receiving a copy! I’ve been a longtime reader of C.N. Crawford’s work. They’re one of my go to authors when I’m in a book slump.

Frost is book one in a new series. The story is told mainly from Ava’s perspective, but we get a few Chapters from Torin (The Seelie Kings) perspective. After Ava finds her boyfriend Andrew cheating on her…she needs to blow off some steam and gets drunk at a bar, where Torin stumbles across her. They’ve just announced the completion where a hundred faerie women will compete to be Seelie Queen.

Overall, Frost was an enjoyable read. It was a slow burn romance with a lot of tension. The book ends on a mild cliff hanger. But it’s not a bad cliff hanger..it just leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
