A group of friends heads to a much neededweekend getaway at a cabin but they never could have guessed what awaited them there. Three couples and who will make it out. Our first couple a serious but brilliant man and his stay at home mom to one baby girl who are needing to reconnect. Our second couple a newly dating couple and best friend to brother and sister in other couplings. Our last power couple. A yoga instructor with a secret to hide and a tech mogul who needs a reality check and gets away with whatever he wants.
The story follows these couples as they arrive at the cabin and the mysterious strangers who appear.
I give this book a 3.5. It was an interesting idea but I felt there were parts added in that were unnecessary and would have been better spent taking time with other developments. Rounded up to 4 stars.

I have enjoyed Lisa Unger's books in the past, and am happy to read and review Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. In this novel a group of friends head off for a remote weekend getaway. The accommodations are gorgeous, but slightly creepy, and are rented out by an eccentric caretaker and host. The book tells the events from many perspectives, keeping some information hidden and slowly revealing details and secrets of each character. I don't want to provide any spoilers, but I will say that the twist at the end was unexpected and fresh-one I have not seen before. I'm giving four stars because once all was revealed it all felt a little implausible, but darn it, it was fun. Thanks to the author and publisher for sharing this book with me via NetGalley.

The story sounds so promising, and I would say that it really had a good plot. The only thing that I didn't like was the several POVs. There's a lot of the readers and that makes it really hard to remember which one is which. All in all it was a good who done it book.

This is different than i expected as its more of a slow burner. It starts off with a really interesting premise but then it drifts off slightly. Maybe its the book mood im in but i wanted something that had me hooked from the first page.

A Luxury secluded cabin, three couples, a chance to get away and relax sounds like a dream; until it becomes a nightmare!

I loved books with a trapped vibe/feeling to them. The stranded feeling where you can't get out and must do what it takes to survive. Will Mother nature make things harder for them than the individual who is watching them? I loved the setting of this book and the creepy vibe of the cabin owner. With three couples there are plenty of antics, and information on past histories between them. It soon becomes evident that not all the characters are likeable, and all are hiding something (some characters are sharing quite a few things). Everyone and their brother have secrets in this book! Enter DNA tests stage left...…

Was this my favorite book by Unger? No, I still have a special place in my reading heart for Ink and Bone by Unger, but I did enjoy this one. I enjoyed being privy to the POV of various characters. They are not the group of people that I would want to go on a luxury cabin vacation with.

Also enjoyed you-think- you-know-your-friends (or brother) but do you? Who is watching them? What secrets does that individual have? Will they make is out of the weekend unscathed? One needs to read to find out.

I enjoyed the mystery and the atmosphere in this book. This book read like a made for TV movie and that is a compliment. It is entertaining and has the mystery of who is the stranger amongst them. Unger created characters that readers will not like but yet, readers will want to know what happens to them. Readers become invested in their secrets and the reveal in this book. There are some twists and turns which were nicely done and I Loved how they played out.

This book has a great synopsis and hook, and I was super excited to read it. I love atmospheric thrillers, and the setting of this one is to die for. There's nothing quite like a secluded woodsy setting with a few untrustworthy, secretive characters. And some of those characters are fleshed out really well, with complex moral layers and shades of gray that I really enjoyed reading about. But... the rest fell a bit flat. There are so many characters that it felt like most of them were purposefully left two-dimensional, for simplicity's sake. Also, the plot was... disjointed, is the best way I can describe it, and not in a fun "twists and turns" sort of way. It felt almost like the author decided to go a different way with the plot halfway through. It isn't a bad plot by any means, but like the characters, it feels like another facet with a lot of potential that wasn't fully realized.

This was so much more than I expected. It's a complicated mystery with flawed characters. It's full of twists and a load of suspense. I was glued to the pages as I couldn't guess what was coming next. I really liked how the author blended everything together and gave the reader a very satisfying conclusion.

I enjoyed reading this! My favorite part was the creepy cabin setting. I didn't love all of the different POVs - it felt like there were too many of them and it got hard to keep track. I thought a couple of the characters' voices sounded very similar, so it got a little confusing trying to remember who's chapter I was reading. It also took a while to get into the book - the beginning was a bit slow. In particular there was a lot of detail around Hannah's mother's personality that I thought was building to something but that didn't really end up being relevant.

Overall it was a fun, quick thriller.

Lisa Unger is a great thriller author and I usually enjoy her books. It was no surprise that I enjoyed this one as well. The book was well written, the characters were mostly well developed. I only really liked two of the characters though. I got that racing in my heart feeling to get to the end. The only negative I saw were the twists were kind of predictable. I really wish Henry and Brackens stories were more in depth. Overall, a great quick read for me!   
  
The majority of the story is told from Hannah's point of view, with some stories from Trina, Henry or Bracken's point of view. Mako (Michael) and his wife Liza invite Hannah (Mako's sister), her husband, Bruce, her best friend, Cricket and her boyfriend, Joshua on a vacation to a secluded cabin. A storm ensues and they lose power and WiFi. The story follows intricate details of all of their lives and how they were intertwined. It is almost like there are two stories being told throughout this book. Henry and Bracken have both suffered major tragedies and we learn how they tried to overcome them.   
  
Family can be made up of so many different people, sometimes biological family are not family at all and the people that are there for you everyday are what really count as family. Regardless your family should be made of who you want it to be! This story proved that over and over again. Hannah consistently covered up for her brother because he was family. Henry had a loving family that supported him after his mother passed away but none of them were biologically related to him.

I do love how Lisa Unger always has some deeper or more serious message behind her thrillers. It makes me feel like I didn’t waste an entire week reading a “popcorn book” with no true substance. (Not flack against these books, I’ve just personally been trying to layer in more thoughtful reads to my TBR.)

This book has a lot of characters. A LOT—I know that was confusing for some of my bookclub pals who listened to the audio.
But you quickly start to learn how they interconnected. The undertone of this story is genetics and what constitutes a family, genes or actions. Is a biological father more of a father than the man who raised his adopted child. Unger doesn’t give any clear answers but her characters come to their own conclusions.
There is a lot of action in this book and some pretty intense violent scenes. It was a fun read and a great one to buddy read.
Idk if this is my top pick of Unger’s (I’ll leave the #authorranking to @emilybookedup) but I was not disappointed!

This was a wild ride from start to finish. I loved the multiple plots strewn together. The characters all had something to add to this dynamic novel and kept me guessing. The setting was meant to be idyllic yet caused such creepy terror. I loved it. I can't wait to read more books by this author - this was the first one I have read.

Lisa Unger slowly reveals the threads to this thriller, but wow-- how she weaves them together! Family drama multiplied: your husband works for your brother-in-law and you rent a house from him, your best friend used to date your brother who is now married, but you are all still friends. Others find out their father was a sperm donor and how many half-siblings do you have? Move this drama to a secluded cabin with a haunting history, throw in a horrific storm, and someone out to get revenge, and you have a book you don't want to put down. Those threads are long, twisted and intertangled and the final tapestry is not what you could have imagined!

Hannah sets out for a weekend getaway with her family and friends. The group is staying in a beautiful secluded cabin, deep in the woods of Georgia. The guests discover the house has a chilling past they can’t seem to forget, but the cabin isn’t the only thing with secrets. They all have secrets to hide and none of them can be trusted. When they realize they may not be alone, what was supposed to be a restful weekend away, quickly turns into a nightmare.

The family drama right at the beginning had me intrigued. It was a bit of a slow start and that helped keep my interest. The eerie woods setting was perfect and I was hooked as soon as they arrived at the cabin. I loved the locked room mystery aspect of this book.

There were many different POVs that didn’t seem connected, but I enjoyed trying to guess how they all fit together. Unger did a great job of weaving together the past and present. Everything came together really well in the end and I always appreciate a closed ending.

This was a major page turner that I couldn’t put down. I was itching to find out more and at times it was incredibly suspenseful and tense.

This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be checking out more of her books.

Wow, what a ride! I loved this book, albeit the plot seeming a bit too far-fetched. I stayed up late into the night reading it and will certainly recommend it to any of my thriller-lover fellow readers. Lisa Unger is great at spinning a tale!

This was a good one. The pacing was great. Not super fast but enough to keep you interested and wanting more This was much more than a cabin vacation. This is one trip the couples won’t forget. The DNA tests were a surprise for sure. I highly recommend.

Lisa Unger is at the top of her game and continues to climb higher in Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six.

Seven words gripped me down to my soul, “I will blow your house DOWN bitch.”

This chillingly suspenseful novel creatively explores her characters’ innermost thoughts with a plot that challenges both the human psyche and morality. Carefully moving the reader to explore motives that go far beyond the real world into an unsettling world of unhinged characters, Unger redefines the definition of family loyalty and love.

The idyllic setting of a luxury remote cabin in the wood becomes the perfect setting to celebrate Mako’s birthday. It provides him a captive audience to boast about his financial success while his sister, Hannah, and their family dangerously relive the sins of their past.

The final picture Unger paints continues to haunt me, yet it leaves me wanting more.

I went into this one pretty much blind (on purpose), not knowing much about the plot apart from six people go to a secluded cabin! Also, this cover really drew me in and I was expecting a fun time. Did I get it? Well, not really.
When this book started I was invested, hooked and intrigued and was enjoying reading it. The characters were well drawn out and I was never confused as to who was who throughout.
However by 30% of the way in I had figured out where this was going and I started to feel a bit disappointed.
Then by 50% my interest level died off. This was mainly because of the multiple different thriller tropes that were thrown in to this book, none of which worked well with the others. It all became very muddled.
I also felt like the pacing was too slow and it felt drawn out.
On to the ending. I didn't enjoy this either. It felt way too sappy and sweet.
After finishing this book, my overall feeling is of disappointment. I was really looking forward to this one so maybe my expectations were too high? It's a shame because this started off well and could have been so much better.

Unfortunately I didn't really like this book. It was quite confusing but not in a fun way, I didn't understand what was happening the whole time until the very end but it wasn't a satisfying reveal. It was more like the author had to drag me to an understanding of what was going on. It wasn't seemless, it was messy.
I found the whole story quite unbelievable. Some of the characters also just made no sense to me like Cricket and Bracken.

No one is innocent in this twisted tale of family told in multiple perspectives. Very twisty, I didn't get the connections between all the characters right away, but I did enjoy the way everyone was connected. The conclusion, though satisfying in its own way, was also not what I expected. I will say I'm a bit disappointed that the cabins host's story just seemed to abruptly end without much fuss. I was interested in his story too. Hard to believe that this is Lisa Unger's 20th book, and until now I had never read anything by her. Very excited to explore her other works.

You can certainly guess the plot line based upon this book's title. Stranded tourists, ghost sightings, severe storm raging outside, possible murderer in the group. Sound familiar? Yes, it's all there. But ... there's a nice twist. A separate storyline and character which seems to have no connection to the main plot keeps the reader guessing. If you like suspense, this one is worth a look.
