Lisa Unger is a master at the craft. This novel delivers all the nailbiting and angsty reading we've grown to love.

This one was ok. I found it a bit unbelievable, which is unfortunate because I really love this author! Oh well, I'm sure the next one will be amazing!

This thriller is a must read. Different POVs secluded in a creepy cabin in the woods, during a storm where no where to go? Yes please! Once you start, you will want to finish it, the pace was on a different level and when it all tied up, it didn't disappoint.

3 couples decide to take a much needed vacation together. A luxurious cabin out in the middle of nowhere. A place that is very secluded. Where cell reception is spotty and the WiFi is wonky. And where a hurricane is gonna hit close to where they’re staying. Sounds great right? What could possibly go wrong? Lots! Especially when their past is about to come and bite them in the butts and threaten to destroy everything they’ve worked for. Everything they know to be true.

How have I not read anything by Lisa Unger before?? This had me captivated! It felt a little like Mary Higgins Clark with the multiple POVs and then with bringing them all together at the end. Sometimes I wondered how everyone connected to each other. The author does a great job with keeping you guessing and then tying it up at the end. I thought it was cool how the author used a real life story of people finding out who their biological family is through genetic testing and put her own spin on it. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future!

Not the best thriller I’ve ever read but definitely not the worst either.
This book was darker than I anticipated with more triggers than I am used to reading. The beginning of the book had me feeling a bit depressed and distrustful of everyone in the book as well as everyone in all of humanity. But I was thankful that at least a couple of the characters turned out to be good people in the end.
Overall it was a reasonably compelling read …short chapters made it easy to fly through. But it isn’t a book that I would consider ever rereading.

An engaging murder mystery, that starts engaging and runs loose towards the end. The basic storyline of the book is good, but the flesh of the story lets down what could be an awesome read. The twists of a classic story are not forthcoming.

The book is an easy winters afternoon read, that will not tax the readers mind.

Ughhhh this had so much potential to be great, I loved the atmosphere, I loved the set up and I thought the first 100 pages were so strong! But this book just gets more and more ridiculous as the story goes, it's been a few days since I finished it and now I struggle to remember anything about it because it was very forgettable. I have not once been disappointed by a lisa unger novel. She is one of my go to authors every time. Unger always gets you hooked by the first chapter and I usually end up staying up all night to finish reading. I really enjoyed this novel but my all time favorite would be last girl ghosted

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a compelling thriller that centres around a fairly new premise: DNA tests, finding out your origins and where you come from. If you took a DNA test, would you be surprised by what you find out?

This book follows several points of view and a couple of timelines, but it’s a testament to Lisa Unger’s writing style that I was never even slightly confused. First, we get the point of view of Hannah, who’s heading up to a secluded cabin getaway with her husband, her brother and his wife, and her best friend and her boyfriend. We also have the point of view of Cricket, her best friend. We also meet the owner of the cabin, and have numerous scenes from his point of view. Next, we have the point of view of a mysterious woman who’s watching them. Her chapters are the only scenes that are written in first person, an approach that I’m sure was intentional and was quite spooky–though I think that the author could have used this opportunity to mislead the readers about her identity and even gender. And finally, we have the point of view of a boy named Henry, starting from when he was a child twenty years ago. It’s very unclear how his storyline connects to present-day events, and while his chapters felt like merely filler at first, I quickly grew invested in what was going to happen to him.

This book started off as a solid 5-star read. It was unputdownable! Despite not being able to truly relate to any of the characters, I was 100% invested in their story. But as the book progressed, I grew to dislike, then hate, all the characters–including the ones that I don’t think you’re meant to hate. The plot twists became obvious early on, and because I didn’t care as much for the characters, I started to lose that excitement I had in the beginning of the book. The writing style was still engaging and compelling, but I wasn’t as invested in the characters or the story itself. This dropped the rating down to a three, and after much thought, I’ve averaged it out to a 4 star read.

This book is compelling, albeit a little predictable, but Lisa Unger’s writing style is what steals the show. She crafted a complex mystery that isn’t difficult to follow, and despite my irritation with most of the characters, I still devoured the entire novel.

I recommend this book to those who like a thriller that has an underlying theme that unifies all storylines, characterizations, and plot twists.

I always like Lisa Unger and her writing. This book was no different. This book kept me engaged and was an easy read. I could easily pick it up and read it and get engaged. I enjoyed this book even though I guessed some of the things that happened in it.

Lisa will have your heart pounding and you flicking the pages faster than you can read them! The suspense in this book is incredible and I couldn’t put it down! Loved it!

This book was amazing ! It’s a locked room thriller with a unique twist I never would have thought of. It had all my favorite things : family secrets, dangerous atmosphere, creepy stalking , and technology. 10/10 all the way. Lisa is one of my favorite authors

It was not at all what I expected. There were elements that surprised me. Overall I enjoyed the characters and the plot.

I always enjoy Lisa Unger books, and this was no exception. Although the characters were fairly unlikable, (intentionally, I think), the story moved quickly, and was very suspenseful.

For an honest, I was given an ARC. I have read a few of Unger's books. They have good story building and curves (I wouldn't really call them 'gosh didn't see that comin' twists).

A group of friends and siblings head out to a getaway for the weekend only to find out some weird stuff about their family and more so their dad. Of course, it is a secluded cabin, a thunderstorm knocks out the power, other things happen, people get hurt.

Overall, it is was an easy read that did keep me wanting to know what was going to happen, I just wasn't completely surprised.

I could not force myself to read this and it was unfortunately a DNF. I loved the title, summary & cover but it was not for me. Henry’s childhood stories felt very out of place and annoying and kept from advancing the story.

I really wanted to enjoy this book as the premise sounded very interesting. Unfortunately, I found the characters to be a complete mess and the plot didn't really make sense. The author definitely tried to do way too much with this book and it would have benefitted from cutting out one of the story lines and focusing fully on the other two.

To begin there are essentially three sets of stories that we expect to overlap. We have Bracken's story of voyeurism, Henry's story of finding his family, and Hannah/Cricket/and Liza's (HCL from here on out) stories which intertwine much more closely.

The book starts out with a scene where Hannah and Liza are eating dinner with Hannah's parents. Liza is married to Mako/Mickey (what even is the nickname Mako?). Liza feels like an outsider with her in laws. Hannah wants to be close to her sister in law, but doesn't know how to do so. From here, we expect Hannah and Mako's parents to play a large role in the book since they are making everyone uncomfortable and are so judge-y. Spoiler alert. They don't..... That is the last scene we see them in.

We are then introduced to Henry and don't really know how he is connected to the HCL story line until the last couple chapters.

Then there is Bracken's story. Other than being a creepy host, he really doesn't provide benefit to the story line and probably could have been cut out. His character could have had a great redemption arc. Instead he is just a creeper who we are supposed to feel bad for, but he does nothing to make us sympathize with him.

I felt this book moved too slow with the story lines not intertwined enough to keep the story moving forward and keep me interested, 2/5 stars

I enjoyed this book. It had a style and premise that held my interest and the story moved along at a pace that kept me turning pages.
