Maggie and her best friend, Ava, made a pact to have one date a month for the next year in order to find Mr. Right. That was until Maggie fell for the guy upstairs.

Apartment 3, AKA Tyler, is one big wet dream for Maggie (apartment 2). The liberties the author took of describing Tyler's physique and how he performed in the bedroom were over the top and, for even someone who doesn't mind a bit of smut, slightly uncomfortable. I was seriously debating on DNFing this book around the 30% mark when, surprisingly, Tyler's character actually began to have some substance. It turns out that Tyler's ex-girlfriend was denying him the chance to get to know her son (whom Tyler thought he had fathered), thereby holding Tyler hostage from getting on with his life. Maggie gets dragged into this whole other part of Tyler's life (outside the bedroom) and is constantly doubting what she means to Tyler.

Sadly, being a third-party witness to Tyler and Maggie's relationship, there doesn't seem to be much to it, aside from the steamy glances across the room and the smirks that underlie what they are respectively thinking. Had I DNFed at 30%, I wouldn't have come to understand the trials that Tyler was going through, but Maggie's character arc didn't hold my attention by the end. Overall, this is a forgettable read.

This ARC was provided by the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

This book wasn't for me. I found the characters to be immature. I listened to the audiobook and it came off as very dull. There was nothing exciting in this story.

3.25/ 5 Star; 2.25/ 5 Spice

So the reviews for this book were generally positive, so I'm a tad disappointed to say this wasn't the book for me. I couldn't really feel the romance, and the friends with benefits trope just didn't hit when I couldn't feel the chemistry for the characters. The agreement between Maggie and her best friend just seemed out of left field. I won't be continuing this series, but that's just my prerogative.

Brief Plot: Maggie is dared by her best friend to go on a date every month. When a date stands her up at the end of the month, she has to ask for a ate from the one person she doesn't want to, the grumpy upstairs neighbor. Tyler. As they grow closer, they establish a friends with benefits relationship that would have to end eventually, right?

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Audio for an eARC Audiobook copy of Truth or Dare, written by Mira Lyn Kelly, and narrated by Rachel Leblang. This is my honest review!

Truth or Dare is the first book in Mira Lyn Kelly’s Dare to Love series.
Maggie Lawson is happy in her Chicago apartment surrounded by best
friends Ava, her brother Ford, and crazy Sam. Maggie carries a lot of baggage but has lightened in this environment, happy with her position at an art gallery nearby with talks with owner Hedda to become a partner and
eventually be able to take on ownership.

When new building resident in apartment 3 Tyler joins in their group things change. Ava has dared Maggie to get back out there with a mandatory
date per month for each of them. The one who doesn’t fulfill the dare must compensate the other with a full day spa treatment, which Maggie, saving to buy in to the gallery, does not want to do.

When Maggie is stood up by Dr. Dreamy on their planned date she happens to run into Tyler who, though unavailable for complex reasons, fills in so Maggie will meet her date quota, leading to far too many complications.

This is a lovely, intricately woven, story of friends, friends with benefits, and finding one’s true love. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it.

I loved Maggie and her baking sarcastic heart. Tyler was a sweet hottie. The steam was awesome. I loved the banter between the two. I enjoyed this first book in this series. I cannot wait to read the next one. I recommend this one for a steamy fun romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was a really great story to read that got me sucked in. I hadn't read anything by this author before and I also prefer not to read the synopsis beforehand so I went in blind. This story is about a girl who hasn't had much luck finding "the one". She agrees to start dating more and finds even more bad luck. This story has high sexual tension and hit me in the feels. Loved it!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and to NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook.

I didn't realize when I requested this book that it was part of an older series. I really liked the narrator, but I couldn't get into the story. I was something that I really thought that I would like when I requested it, but this one just wasn't for me

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed every minute. Maggie and Tyler are both in Chicago looking for different things in life - Maggie is trying to avoid love and relationships and Tyler is trying to get back into a relationship with his ex to get back the son he thought was his. Their goals are opposite of each other and so are they..... or are they? I loved watching Maggie and Tyler getting to know each other and trying to discover if their goals are actually more alike than they think...

I really enjoyed this book! Our main character, Maggie, is very independent and likes her life just how it is. Time with friends, time for work and her free time spent doing what she likes. Before she knows it her world is changed by the arrival of her new neighbor, Tyler. He might seem rude and stand off-sit but we then learn why he moved and what he is doing here. In an attempt to step out of her comfort zone a game of truth or dare and challenges begins and lines are crossed.

Despite their first interaction they becomes friends and then maybe more? They can't quite figure that part out. This book is sweet and a bit steamy and overall a fun read. This book will make you want to hang out with a group of friends each night and talk dates, friends, and work. The friend dynamic is fun and you really root for the couple which is always a plus. Anyone wanting a fun romance I really recommend this book.

I first read this story back in 2015 and never finished the series. I always wanted to but never got around to it. Now with the audios coming to NetGalley I can hopefully finish this series.

This is about Maggie and Tyler who live in the same building and they DO NOT get along. They each have a past they don't want to date anyone. The only problem for Maggie is her best friend has dared her to a dating pack for a year. She has to go on one date a month and if she has multiple dates with the same guy she has to do more things each date to build a hopeful relationship. Again Maggie has no interest in dating so she goes on dates with men she doesn't find compatible so no one gets hurt.

The only problem is Tyler somehow becomes apart of there friend group and all they do is fight until her date cancels and she needs her date for the month or she owes her friend. So he steps in and they become friends in the process. The only problem is they both get feelings they don't want and neither want to date. So they have a casual relaeniship with friendship and sex. What could go wrong.

As we all know everything can get tuned upside down.

Now's to finishing the series! can't wait

Thank you NetGalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest review

Truth or Dare was a heartfelt and fun romance. Kelly did a great job of crafting realistic characters that made want to keep reading. I will happily revisit this universe to learnt he other characters stories.

3.5 stars, rounded up. I like Mira Lyn Kelly's writing, which is why I requested this book. She is especially great at writing the steamy scenes. I did not realize when I requested this that the actual story was from 2014. Once I learned that it definitely showed me how much she has grown as an author since then.
While there were parts to the story I enjoyed, such as the close-knit friend group, the location, and the fact that the female MC seemed genuinely happy with her life without a man were great. That being said, I did not understand how Maggie made a living. There were only a couple quick mentions of her going to work, but apparently she was somehow supposed to be purchasing this art gallery? Like...how? With what money?!
Also, I struggled with Tyler's POV. Yes, he had been in a shitty situation with thinking he was a father then finding out it wasn't true. BUT I did not understand why he thought it made sense to completely give up on his own life and potential happiness to saddle himself with Gina, who he did not even care about. Especially after already consulting multiple lawyers and custody experts. How did his family not get him therapy?
there were some cute rom-com moments in the story, but overall it was not my favorite. And as far as the narrator for the audiobook...I really wish they would have had a male narrator for Tyler's chapters. Because having this one woman trying to do like, 10 different character voices throughout the book did not really work for me. It became detracting from the story.

I’m gonna be honest, this one left a little something to be desired. I’ll still recommend it, but it fell a bit flat for me.

Maggie has decided that after her having her heart broken to go it alone. She has truly given up the hope of ever finding her one true love. She’s got a core group of ride or die friends to is good. That is until her BFF (well meaning, but wow, annoyingly pushy) creates and forces her into a 1 year of dating challenge/bet. She gives in and goes along to get along and thus is subjected to find and go out with someone every month or else lose. When her date falls through one month and she is unwilling to concede, she winds up on a date with her new neighbor Tyler. He is great guy and has blended into her group of friends and yet they are oil and water. It’s a witty, will they/won’t they trope that will have you laughing and truly hoping they will. Good narration added to the listening experience.

Maggie and Tyler have each been burned by a past love and have no interest in finding someone new. However, Maggie’s best friend gets her to make a pact: they will each have at least one date per month for a year and stay open to the possibility of love. One night, Maggie’s date stands her up, and it’s the end of the night. Tyler, her upstairs neighbor, agrees to stand in for the date. Maggie knows he’s smoking hot, but they fight constantly, so she’s not interested in him – or is she?

This book was full of sexual tension. I loved the fact that the roadblocks for the relationship were not due to lack of communication, as seems to be the case in so many romance books these days. I did think it was kind of ridiculous that at one point in the story, Maggie is like, 'I haven’t had sex in three years; I had better find someone to kiss me to fulfill that need.' (paraphrased, not an actual quote) I really liked the friendship in the group and the easy way Tyler fit in after meeting them. I’m a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, so I can’t wait to check out the next book in this trilogy!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

This is an oldie turned into an audio and it was a good one. Maggie finds out her boyfriend is married and has children. She is devastated and so this starts the truth or dare pact with her best friend. A different date every month. Too bad all she really wants to do is hole up in her apartment. Ty has moved in upstairs and at first when she tries to welcome him to the building he is really rude and she steers clear. When they find themselves together repeatedly the spark is there. What happens when Ty's former girlfriend finally tries to pull him back? I really enjoyed this one.

There were parts of this that were great, but some parts were a bit too ridiculous/far fetched.

The chemistry between Maggie and Tyler was great. I liked Tyler, but Maggie was kind of forgettable. I honestly couldn't remember her name through most of the book.

The character's pasts included elements that were just too much. (Like Maggie's relationship with her parents influenced by her issues with her ex and Tyler's commitment to his past.)

I listened to the audiobook. While it does switch POVs- mid chapter, mind you- there is only one narrator. Rachel Leblang did an OK job, but her dialogue was cringe-worthy at times.

I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute romance novel that I listened to via audiobook this week every time I was at the gym. It made me laugh, giggle, blush, and overall just smile the entire time. The characters were fairly simple, both of them not liking each other in the beginning but developing a sort of chemistry you're rooting for in the end.

It was my first time listening/reading a book by this author and I definitely think I'll be picking up more books because all the characters seemed really interesting and definitely felt like they're all going to have really good stories!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an audiobook of this book!

This was kind of a cute story but also a little peculiar. I know things like this do happen but both of the stories about the exes just seemed kind of unrealistic. Like, they got all the way to the wedding and then the wife storms in, seems kind of nuts.
I also to this one via audiobook and the narrator didn’t help me like it. The male portion of her voices really struggled and even the voice of the ex was just annoying to me.
