An ok read that could have done with more character and plot development. There was nothing really to show any sort of ARC for either min character. The formula from point A to B could not have been any simpler and I think the story suffers for that. This could have been a really good way to show maturity and remorse through actions rather than a one time apology.

It had been a long while since I had read some paranormal romance and as soon as I had read the synopsis of Unwanted Mate I was intrigued. It sounded very promising with lots of angst. It did have angst. And the plot was good but after some time it started to lose its appeal especially concerning the hero. I had trouble connecting with both main characters but even more with the hero which I can say wasn't much likeable.

This book read like a short novella in a Wattpad story. It kept me engaged but lacked character development and an intriguing plot. Sapphire was so quick to forgive her childhood bully Marc for the sake of the mating bond and while that is an understandable plot point, I would've liked to see more interaction between Sapphire and Marc and more conversations on how much Marc hurt her and how that changed her as a person. And likewise with Marc, we here about how Oh I had a huge crush on you as a child and so I made your life miserable. This is 2022, we don't need any more stories about how boys will be boys. I also feel like the title and way this book was marketed was a little misleading because neither character was rejected or even unwanted. I really wanted to like it since I'm in a rejected mates werewolf romance mood, but I felt like this book just didn't quite hit the mark.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
