Young 9 year old Branden is afraid of ghosts.
When his babysitter doesn't show up one afternoon, things get a little scary for him. Then Ms Meriweather arrives and the afternoon takes a turn for the weird. Ultimately, Branden learns that not everything that goes bump is a ghost. And most things have a logical explanation.
But, yes, there is a ghost in the story.

Wouldn’t really say this was a great read, it was fun yes, but wasn’t anything to write home about. Definitely catered to a much younger audience this book is mysterious and hilarious… just not my cup of tea.

I thought that this was an enjoyable book

The story was easy to follow and I can't wait to read the story with my daughter when she is a little older. Myself and my husband love watching the ghost hunting programmes on tv so we can't wait to get them on them and this would be a great way to ease her in!

It is four stars from me for this one, I thought that the story was really good and whilst I did guess the plot it was still a great read and well written –highly recommended!

Brandon is 9 1/2 and he has a “tutor“ name Shelly. She is really his babysitter but because he is so grown he insists they referred to her as his tutor. Would he arrive at home after school he expected to see her but the house was empty. At first he felt emboldened by this and thought he is 9 1/2 and he can do this! But after playing with his dog and coming in he started hearing noises first in the kitchen and then in the bathroom while checking these noises out he heard a knock at the door and he immediately hoped it would be Shelly. He was surprised to see a woman not much taller than him she said her name was Mary and walked in without invitation and asked if he would like to ghost hunt? It seems as if Mary knows things she couldn’t possibly know… But this afternoon with Mary will teach him a lot but most of all it would teach him he would rather not be home alone. I thought this book was adorable and when I told my daughter Steph it was about ghost she was so excited. I have to say she read this book in one day and although it is short that is definitely a first for her. I hope they have more books about Brandon and his adventures and growing up because my daughter would love to read them. I received this book from NetGalleyShelf and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Branden (who is nine and a half years old, mind you) comes home one day to find his tutor (nope, not a babysitter) gone, leaving him alone with weird noises and unexplained messes... Could there be a ghost?

This was an enjoyable story with both suspense and humour. I can't say much without spoilers but I really like the themes that this illustrated children's book discusses and the direction it went in. It's a quick read but perfectly-paced and hits the spot. My only concern is Branden letting a stranger into his home, which might send the wrong message to kids who don't know better.

Meet Brandon, age 9 and a half. After school, Brandon has a tutor [read, babysitter]; but today, his house is locked and he can't find her. So after he plays with his dog Bobo, he hears strange noises, in the kitchen and bathroom. He's worried, but a visitor at the door proves to be exactly the lesson to help Brandon be brave.
