Such a cool idea!
A 5 yo kid with an imaginary spider friend - or maybe it is not so friendly after all?
Creepy though not horrific, and maybe not for people with arachnophobia, it was an enjoyable read.

Ultimate DNF. I did not like anything about this book with the exception of the synopsis. I expected more horror elements that just never came

I loved this unique horror story! There were twists that I didn't see coming. Very well done and unnerving.

I think the biggest issue I had with this book is that it is told from the point of view of a 5 year old, which didn't work for me. Like I didn't really believe she was 5 most of the time. I like the idea of the spiders and Fred and everything that was going on, but it wasn't creepy or scary or really working for me the way it was written

Loved the whole concept of an imaginary friend being the killer. Kids in scary scenarios scare me especially when it seems like they losing themselves and being controlled by outside forces. Definitely give this book a read!

Young Missy has always had an imaginary spider friend called Fred, or so they thought. Everyone thinks Missy just has an obsession with spiders until things start to seriously go wrong, and all fingers point towards one person.

This is a brilliant and very credible piece of horror fiction. Perhaps not for people who suffer with arachnophobia though. I in particular hate spiders and was thankful that the author did not go into detailed depictions of the spiders, so I was easily able to focus on the main story. I very much enjoyed this book and would highly recommend to horror/paranormal fans. I will definitely be adding Hawkins to my list and I'm looking forward to reading future creations from this author.

Who knew the innocent could be so cruel. Accompany a small child who is followed by an imaginary pet spider only she can see. As unfortunate events unfold, the spider may not be as cuddly and cute as previously thought. Soon enough, the child is scheming on how to be rid of the pest, but not without trying a few chaotic measures.

A quick read- just as when you're afraid the book will go there, it goes there.

If you want a book to give you nightmares, this one will do it!
Honestly have had so many messed up spider 🕷 dreams and am paranoid now about any being in my house 😆 I’ve had one small black spider living by my back door inside the house all summer, it gets all the mosquitoes, so we’ve have a symbiotic relationship where I allow it to stay …. NOT ANYMORE MY GUY!!!

This was an awesome debut novel, intensely creepy, compelling, and easy to understand as the point of view switches between 5 year old Missy and Fred the entity.

Now, to go deep clean my house and clear out any roommate spiders….

Thank you to NetGalley, the author Tirzah Hawkins, and Xpresso Book Tours for a copy!

Sweet Missy is bullied in kindergarten, but takes comfort in her one true friend Fred. Only Missy can see Fred, the tarantula that sleeps on her pillow and rides on her shoulder. Only Missy can see Fred’s friends…the hundreds of spiders that cover every surface of her bedroom and follow her everywhere she goes. Her classmates don’t see the spiders all over their desks. One day Fred speaks! “Feed me”, he demands. When Missy finally figures out what Fred wants to eat she is in over her head she begins to fear her friend Fred. Everyone should fear her friend Fred, and what ever you do…..don’t make Missy mad at you.
This is a creeeeeepy book for the images it put in my head. Spiders scampering everywhere. Spiders you don’t know exist until you feel them all over you, and if you feel them then you’re done for. Thank you #netgalley and allowing me to read and review #Spidersight. Yikes!

This is a fantastic creature horror with a good supernatural element. If you don't have arachnophobia now, you might by the time you read this!

A five year old girl can see spiders... LOTS of them but her favorite is named Fred. Fred is her best friend and only she can see him and the army of arachnids that seem to follow Fred. They follow her wherever she goes.

Eventually, we realize that Fred isn't so friendly. When she gets angry, the spiders react and cause harm and death to others around her. Fred keeps growing and she soon realises that she has no control as the bodies start piling up.

This book is like a slasher with invisible spiders instead of a machete and reminded me of Willard (about a put upon man that controls an army of rats). It's absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it! You'll get all those creepy crawlies you need for this spooky season.

This is a cute little yarn by Tirzah M.M Hawkins. We have little Missy, A five year old girl who has a imaginary best friend named Fred. Fred is a spider that only she can see who also has hundreds of other spiders who hang out on the walls and ceiling and they follow Missy around everywhere she goes.

Only Fred is actually a demon who waits for years for the perfect host to use to feed, or go on a murder spree. lol. This book is off the rails and totally creepy. If I wasn't freaked out about spiders before I'm pretty sure I am now!

The book is plotted well and very short and sweet at around 250 pages (I think) It is really scary / creepy in places as Missy starts to get scared of the power she has to kill humans. There is also a satisfying sense of dread and hopelessness and she tries to get rid of Fred and finds out that ancient demon spiders aren't that easy to get rid of. The ending is also nails as you start to think there is no way Missy can get out of this mess.....

The bad stuff: The dialogue is not the greatest and doesn't flow that well in places. Plus you start to forget that Missy is only five years old in parts. I guess the difficulty in writing a book with a five year old POV? There is also a weird part in the end that doesn't really fit. It's like the author was trying to just lengthen the book.

All is all, if you want to read a short, scary read then go for this one. It doesn't disappoint!

I really appreciate Tirzah M.M Hawkins for letting me review her book and it's out right now.

Book was given for free for an honest review.

Well-constructed and creatively imagined, SPIDERSIGHT is a combination of Phobic Horror, Psychological Thriller, and Psychological Devolution, in which isolation (both physical separation and the curse of having Sight not gifted to others) leads to insanity and death. So for the human characters, these are the Horrors; yet lurking mostly silently is the real (mythological and Supernatural) Terror, to whom all of Humanity is simply fodder.
Caution: this tale will send Arachnophobics screaming.
