I really enjoyed this book. It was the first one I have read by Kate Pearce and it won't be the last. I am grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review

Three Cowboys and a Baby
Kate Pearce
December 27, 2022

Two military retirees move to a fellow vetran’s ranch in Northern California. They each work hard despite the weather. Usually Luke’s mother stays on as cook and bottlewasher for the boys but she is in Texas visiting friends and family. When the thaw begins, she will return. As their story begins an old Marine buddy drives up prepared to visit although he hadn’t called ahead so neither Luke, Noah or Max anticipated his arrival. They certainly didn’t anticipate him bringing his 8 month old baby with.
Sky becomes part of the family when Dave can’t figure out what to do with the little one and needs to meet his plane to start a job. He leaves him in the crib hoping the guys will do their best taking care of the baby.
This is a fun story especially when the guys work on doing chores, cooking, cleaning and caring for the little one. Three Cowboys and a Baby will be published by Zebra Books of Kensington Publishing Corporation on December 27, 2022. I appreciate their allowing me to read Pearce’s latest novel via NetGalley. It was a delight to read and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It is also Brenda Novack Book Club’s January read. This is a great winter read.

It was delightful to get to know these cowboys, the baby, and his mother. A sweet romance. I skipped the amorous activities. Heart-wrenching back stories for the couple. Many tender, tear inducing moments. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

I really liked the blurb about this book and I have enjoyed many of Kate Pearce's books, but this one fell short for me. The book starts out when Doug unexpectedly stops by the ranch that is run by several of his prior military teammates (Noah, Max and Luke). Doug has his baby with him and because he has a "job" he needs to get to, just leaves his son with Noah, Max and Luke in the middle of the night. He has basically told them that the baby's mom, Jen, is a deadbeat that took off for a few months and just left the baby with him. Noah, Max and Luke are good guys, but to just dump a baby is awful, and Doug thinks he did NOTHING wrong. Thank goodness Doug isn't supposed to be the hero in this book, Noah is, but it doesn't make Doug any easier to deal with. We do eventually get an okay love story with Noah and Jen (only okay because their lack of communication is ridiculous). In my opinion Doug called way too many shots in this book and Jen was always bending over backwards to accomodate him. And his mother is the one that forced him to fight Jen for custody but then just left her worthless son with the baby when she got tired of being grandma when Jen was off on her tour of duty? Way too many people got away with bad behavior in this book with no consequences. That might be real life, but not what I am looking for in a romance novel! 3 stars.

Once out of the military, former Marine Luke Nilsen decided to return to his family ranch, inviting two of his men, serious strategist Noah Harding and taciturn Max, to join him run the ranch.
An unexpected former military friend comes for a visit with his baby son, disappearing the next day, leaving the men with baby Sky.
Noah, a man that basically brought up his three sisters and vowed never to have kids, takes it upon himself to take care of Sky, while not having pleasant thoughts about the boy’s absent mother.
Jen Rossi returns home after a mission, to discover her son and his Dad gone. After finally tracking the boy back to the ranch, she is met with some hostility from Noah who believes she abandoned Sky.
While they all get stuck in a never ending snowstorm and the reason for Jen’s absence is clarified, what Jen and Noah didn’t expect was the attraction.
Can they have a fling and then go their separate ways when Jen leaves? Or will feelings develop even though that was not the plan?
This was a touching, sweet, delightful as well as a thought provoking story.
One is reminded of the sacrifices that military parents and the families they leave behind have to endure. Not easy for any of them.
This reader is hoping that Luke and Max will also get their stories.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Zebra books. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book was soo good. Jen was in the Navy and her ex was supposed to be looking after their almost year old baby boy. Dave (the ex) has come to the ranch of his old Navy buddies to find someone to watch the baby as he needs to get to a job. He actually just takes off in the middle of the night!. A month or so later, Jen has finally tracked down her baby but Noah (one of the cowboys) is not impressed),. He thinks she has just been wandering around. When she sets him straight, he starts to see her in a new light. The baby (Sky) loves Noah and calls him Nono. Jen and Noah start to have feelings for each other but certainly fight it. Jen and Sky get stuck on the ranch for quite a while during a blizzard that is decemating their livestock. The characters in this story are all different and interesting. Dave needs to grow up, Noah needs to man up and admit his love for Jen and Sky just needs to stay cute as a bug. I love how the 3 cowboys all work together to make the ranch work and are there for each other.

A western romance with a baby and three ex-marines at its center.  Charming premise. The guys, now cowboys, are close friends.  They are busy running a rance in the middle of nowhere when a fellow ex-marine shows up unannounced and leaves his baby with them. Also unannounced. The guys, with the exception of the baby's dad, are all likeable and appealing.  The men, especially Noah, soon become attached to the adorable baby.   Then, the baby's mother shows up and the sparks start to fly - initially, angry sparks, which eventually turn to sparks of attraction. (It's a romance after all.) Neither Jen nor Noah are great at communicating with each other, so there are obstacles and complications to be overcome before they can get be together. A pleasant read for fans of macho cowboys and happily ever after romance.

While I generally really enjoy Kate Pearce's novels, Three Cowboys and a Baby was problematic for me. While it was well written, and the start of a new trilogy, which is never clearly stated, I had a number of other issues, which I'll get to, but for me, this novel was barely a 3-star read.

First--at no time is it mentioned that this novel is the start of a new trilogy, nor is there really any background information on the 3 cowboys, who are less cowboy and more retired former military friends, and, as such, they have a variety of issues among them, none of which are never fully explained either.

As the novel opens a fourth ex-military friend shows up with his new son, a baby named Sky. His name is Dave Riley and how he survived in the military is anyone's guess because he's the most irritating, lying, irresponsible, self-centered character Ms. Pearce, in the novels I've read by her, has ever created, especially when he heads off to a new job in Africa (we never actually learn what he does) and leaves the baby behind with 3 unsuspecting friends who haven't seen him in years, telling them that the mother of his child, Jen, will soon be there to pick him up--fat chance! For all he knows, these men could be child abusers. Why Luke, Noah and Max don't immediately get in touch with child protective services when Jen fails to show up for weeks was a mystery to me.

Jen has been a midwife on the Navy ship for the past 8 years, and was delayed in meeting Dave at the appointed time and place because of a hurricane. Dave never tells her where her baby is, and it takes her two cross-country bus trips before she finally arrives at Luke's ranch in the middle of a blizzard, trapping her and the baby there for a month. I simply couldn't understand why she even got involved with Dave Riley, who I found beyond irritating, nor could I understand why on earth she'd agree to co-parent with him. Yes, her stint in the Navy is almost up, she doesn't know whether or not to re-enlist, but why have a baby when you know you're not going to be there for it, especially when taking into considering the character, or lack thereof, of the baby's father?

I liked the novel a bit more when it came to Jen's relationship with Noah, a man who admits to not wanting a relationship, love, children, a wife or a family, but one who is clearly wonderful with baby Sky and really good in bed. Although Noah is most definitely relationship-challenged, he's a big, strong, honest, handsome guy with a good heart, and that went a long way with me. The biggest problem between him and Jen is that neither one of them has good communication skills, or ever tells the other what they're thinking or feeling, which was also irksome for this reader. And then despicable Dave shows back up and you'll have to read this novel to find out what happens because I don't do spoilers.

All in all, this wasn't a terrible read but it's certainly not one of the best books I've read by Kate Pearce. If you've read and enjoyed any of her previous novels, and aren't as incensed as I was by a father who is so irresponsible with his child, you may like this novel more than I did.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

This was a cute, low drama read. I liked the characters but I felt there was missing history especially between the three cowboy friends. I appreciated the author tackling Jen’s difficult choice between her military career and her baby. I imagine this is a common dilemma for military mothers. The biggest thing I found lacking was the inadequate description of the characters. Other than being big, tall and bearded, there wasn’t more details about Noah. Even Jen was only described as tall with curly hair.

I am a dog person. While there were 2 dogs, there is no description of them. And their presence didn’t seem to be integral to the story as they didn’t seem to be pets or working dogs.

Three Cowboys are left with one toddler. When Jen finally finds where her ex has left their son it takes days to get to him. The Cowboys have without a toddler enough own baggage to deal with and when Jen comes they have some judgment toward her, especially Noah. The snowstorm prevents Jen to go home so they are all stuck on the ranch together. Noah and Jen develop feelings but Jen's ex once again spoils everything. Will Noah overcome his insecurity and give love a chance?

While not one of my favorite movies, I distinctly remember watching Three Men and a Baby at least once years ago and being charmed by the premise. So, when I saw a romance called Three Cowboys and a Baby, I had to give it a go.

I admit the charm of seeing these three men step up and take care of the abandoned baby when their friend/his father leaves him behind, it’s somewhat more than that. It’s not outright ridiculous, as I initially anticipated, but more heartfelt, and about how the men step up when their friend doesn’t. I will say, Dave, the baby’s father, is kind of an ass, and I did question how Luke and the other two could have ever been his friends.

Jen intrigued me, because initially there was this question on Luke and the others’ part of how both parents could abandon Sky. But Jen is also in the military as an active duty nurse, and has recently returned from a mission, only to find her ex had dropped him. I thought that added an interesting dynamic, exploring the complexities of being in a military family when both parents are in different branches…and that’s not even taking into account that a parent could just flake out on their parental responsibilities without notifying the other about Sky’s whereabouts.

I really liked seeing the dynamics between Noah and Jen as they come together over their mutual care for Sky. While both are mutually distrusting of each other at first (and with good reason), I appreciate how they come to care for each other while spending time together.

This is a charming start to a series, and I look forward to what’s next. If you enjoy contemporary Western romance and/or romances with babies and parenting as a bonding mechanism to bring the couple together, I recommend picking this one up!

“Three Cowboys and a Baby” by Kate Pearce
Learning to Trust and Communicate
This story drew me in hook, line and sinker. Noah & Max work for Luke on his family ranch. They had served together in the marines. Dave was also a marine and the father to a baby boy. Jen is in the navy and the baby boy’s mom. Her deployment on a floating hospital was extended, and that was the beginning of this stories adventure(s). I loved the story, although I could have lived with less descriptive ‘romance’ scenes. But that is what sells books and I have learned to skip the scenes that I do not care to witness. That said, I still say this is a good read, a worthy read. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: This review expresses my honest opinion.

This is a sweet story about a really cute innocent baby, some well-meaning cowboys, and...

I did get caught up in the story, and I love the (hot) cowboys. The plot was enjoyable, if a bit predictable.

"The silence of the storm had been replaced by ominous cracking sounds as some of the structures beneath the banked snow groaned under the weight of it or gave in to it. She kind of new how it felt."

Three Cowboys and a Baby by Kate Pearce is the first book in this author's new series. Dave Riley arrives at the Nilsen Ranch with his almost one-year-old son, Sky. Three of his former Marine buddies, Noah, Luke and Max, are there working the ranch. Dave has a job in Africa he needs to get to and nowhere else to leave his son Sky since Sky's mother, Jen is late getting back from a deployment. So he sneaks away and leaved Sky with the three cowboys. Jen finally arrives at the ranch but before she can leave with Sky they get snowed in at the ranch. In the meantime Noah is very attracted to Jen and that works both ways. They have a very rocky road to a Happily Ever After but the journey is lots of fun to read about. I really like the main characters in this series and I look forward to Luke's and Max's stories.

Noah makes a lot of assumptions about Jen. I like how she doesn't instantly correct them, she lets him figure it out on his own or someone points out to him what a dummy he is. Jen is very easy going and easy to get along with. She is there when she is needed with a smile on her face. Lucky for Noah that includes him. They both had very hard childhoods that shaped they into who they are today. I enjoyed reading this book very much.

Three former Marines, Luke, Noah, and Max, are working on a ranch belonging to the family of one of them. Another buddy shows up and has his baby with him. He gave his buddies a story about his baby mama being too locked in to her career to care for their child. He then leaves his child with these comrades in arms, because he has a new job and his ex should be there 'any day'.

Noah wants to choke both his buddy and his buddy's ex. He is NOT the dad type, except Sky has a way of worming his way into all three cowboys hearts! They are still upset that the mom hasn't gotten there yet!

Jen, an active duty military nurse (somehow that wasn't told to Noah, Luke, and Max), is trying to find her baby. She can't believe that her ex would just drop the baby with three men he served with!! She is angry and hell bent on getting to her child! Upon arrival, she just wants to leave the ranch. Mother Nature takes care of that by dropping a snowstorm (that she had to slog through to get to her baby), so she can't leave. As tempers cool, she realizes that maybe Noah's love of Sky could begin to spill over onto her as well.

A cute take on the Three Men and a Baby movie from years ago.

Three Cowboys and a Baby is a very well written romance. Cowboys and babies what else could you ask for. I highly recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

Three Cowboys And A Baby was a very enjoyable read.
Imagine three big, burly marines taking care of a cute toddler in an isolated ranch, I think I fell in love with this story at the blurb.

Luke, Noah and Max take care of Sky, when his father abandon him at their ranch and left. It is hard but they get used to their new routine pretty easily. The baby's mother arrives at the ranch to bring her son at home right before a snowstorm, so she also stays stuck in their company.

As soon as Noah and Jen met they have some incomprehensions and misconpetions, but day after day thaks to the forced cohabitation and the small spaces they have to share they know each other better changing their minds about their personalities and behaviour.

I loved the plot, the little baby conquered my heart since the start and the snowstorm was so romantic that even two characters as different as Noah and Jen fell in love with each other.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest

Noah is the strong and silent type and former marine on a ranch with two of his marine buddies. Davie, a former marine, shows up and ends up leaving his child with the cowboys.

Jen returns from deployment and is searching for her son and not getting answers from her previous boyfriend Davie. She eventually winds up on the ranch and a snowstorm, that seems to last weeks, keeps her tied to the ranch where stoic Noah begins to become attached to both Jen and her son Sky.

Can they work through many disagreements and realize their true feelings before it’s too late? Will Davie whisk in and take Jen back before Noah can tell her how he feels?

At times I felt myself laughing and at times close to tears. Great read and I couldn’t put it down.
