This book was a welcome addition to the Ladies Most Scandalous series. I particularly liked Poppy and Langham's character development. Their willingness to grow and admit to having made many assumptions about each other was well written and stayed true to their character throughout the series.

Such a cute romance. I loved the characters loved their story. The chemistry was cute hot and on pointe. Cannot recommend this book enough.

The Spinster’s Guide to Danger and Dukes was such a fun, fast-paced mix of romance and mystery, and I absolutely loved the fake engagement trope between Poppy and Joshua. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic, witty banter, and strong chemistry made the story addictive, and I appreciated how both characters grew closer while staying true to themselves. The Regency setting added charm, even if the dialogue occasionally felt too modern. While not every plot point fully landed for me, I was still swept up in the twists, emotional stakes, and satisfying romance. I can’t wait to read more in the series!

DNFed at 35%. I wanted to keep going, but the dialogue was so cringe and the characters so flat that I couldn’t continue. I think the narrator (on audio) may have also contributed.

I loved this book. It was the perfect blend of murder mystery and romance. Poppy has been betrayed too many times to trust openly. Considering her stepfather is a con artist, she was raised without much safety. Then Joshua, a duke, helps solve the mystery of who murdered Poppy’s detestable brother-in-law. And Joshua is perfect. He is an excellent blend of joviality and seriousness. For Poppy, he is someone she can lean on. For Joshua, Poppy will not hide her feelings just because he’s a Duke.

What a fun fast moving story! There were many twists and turns. A true friends to Lovers story. What started out as just two people helping each other. You will truly enjoy this book.

This book is a captivating and immersive read that hooks you from the first page. The writing is beautifully crafted, with vivid descriptions and strong character development that makes the story come alive. The plot is well-paced, balancing moments of tension with quieter, reflective scenes that allow the characters to grow. The themes explored are deep and thought-provoking, resonating long after the final page. Whether it's the emotional depth, the twists and turns of the plot, or the unforgettable characters, this book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys rich, engaging stories. Highly recommended

Loved loved loved it! Great read after reading Jane Austin! The romance. The banter. Just tipping my toes into mysteries so great book!

Yes take me to the time of Spinster's and Dukes!
I had so much fun reading this! Manda Collins does a great job here transporting me to the regency era!

Love the quick banter and cleverness that we see with Poppy is amazing and keeps the reader so invested in the story. I love both the main characters and was easily swept in. Manda Collins has written such a clever quick mystery that will have anymore wanting more. Will be quickly reading the rest of the books in the series ASAP.

Oh I love these Regency historical fiction / romance books! Always so much fun! I quite enjoyed it! Thank you Manda Collins for another fabulous book!

This was a really fun read and I love the fake dating trope especially in a regency rom-com setting that also includes them investigating a murder together as well. I love the banter between Poppy and Langham and they had the worst first meeting which just makes the fake dating even better.
Thanks to Forever and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

I enjoyed this historical fiction mystery romance. Poppy and Langham's banter was entertaining. Fake dating/engagement is becoming a favorite trope of mine. The mystery surrounding who killed Poppy's brother in law had enough twists to keep me invested in the outcome.

This fun and fresh read had a few of my favorite things: historical fiction + romance, fake dating, and mystery, and kept it approachable for a wide audience.

Another fun instalment in this series - we are getting more into the mystery solving it seems, but I didn't mind. I love a good fake relationship/engagement plot, and this delivered that beautifully. As always, the characters were well developed (I love a starchy duke!).

I loved this! Collins' voice is fun, and her writing style is very appealing. I wanted to nestle myself in the world of this book and get cozy. I will definitely be picking up the others in the series, though this is the first I've read.
I loved the duke, he's a fun, loving guy underneath a layer of pomp and starch. I enjoyed his point of view immensely, and I laughed quite a bit. Poppy was equally interesting to me, especially because I love the "living under an assumed name" trope. I also enjoy a fiercely independent heroine who can take care of herself, and still enjoys the support of a partner.
I also enjoyed the plot- I like a good mysterty, and I think this one works well and its foundations are sound. If you're a career criminal, there are going to be a good number of people who want you dead, and figuring out who it is becomes more difficult. The only place that I got stuck was with Poppy's stepfather, and what reasons he had for framing his own daughter for her husband's murder. Short know who really killed him, and wanted the money badly enough to let his daughter be hung for it? Felt like a small loose end, but we can always assume that, since he's a cruel man without a nice bone in his body, he did it out of malice.
Overall, a great read, and I'm excited to pick up other books by this writer!

I love this series and the mix of mystery and romance in these books! This one was super fun with a fake engagement trope(one of my faves) and a murder mystery!

Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Manda Collins
When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

If you love the enemies-to-lovers trope, fake engagements, romance, with a mix of mystery, then A Spinster’s Guide to Danger and Dukes is the perfect read for you.
The first meeting between Poppy Delamare and the Duke of Langham hadn’t been at all amicable. She found him arrogant and snobbish, while he found her critical and know-it-all. And then they find themselves together on a train trip to the village of Little Kidding. Poppy is returning two years after her escape from an arranged betrothal to help her sister who’s been accused of murdering her own husband. Joshua, the Duke, is visiting the family’s estate to attend his grandmother’s birthday party where she invited all eligible young women in the hope of finding him a wife.
Putting aside their differences and mutual dislike, Poppy and Joshua decide to help each other: she will pretend to be his fiancée to keep away all the women hoping to become the next duchess, in exchange, he will use his influence to prove her sister’s innocence and clear her name. And, of course, the more time they spend together, the less they need to pretend to like each other.
What I loved most about A Spinster’s Guide to Danger and Dukes is the two main characters and their development throughout the story. Their initial dislike turns into a truce when they agree to help each other and the more time they spend together, the more they talk and trust each other, revealing their true characters so that their fake engagement starts to feel more real. Poppy is a headstrong and fierce female protagonist. To escape an engagement to her stepfather’s odious secretary, she fled to London, she changed her name, and started a brand-new life working for newspaper columnist, Lady Katherine. She didn’t expect her sister to take her place in the betrothal and, when she is accused of murder, Poppy doesn’t think twice to give up the life she loves and help her. While, initially, Joshua seemed to be a pompous aristocrat, he turns out to be a wonderful character. He is generous and caring and he appreciates Poppy’s independence and frankness. Together, these two characters create a story that is funny, romantic, steamy, and suspenseful. I enjoyed their banter and their chemistry was incredible.
I love this series because it perfectly mixes romance and mystery, it is well-written, well-developed, and with a lively pace, and I think that A Spinster’s Guide to Danger and Dukes is my favourite novel so far because I do love a good fake engagement and this one is quite entertaining. From the very first page, when Poppy and Joshua meet at the train station, to the last page, I was completely addicted to this romantic, entertaining, but also twisty story and I kept thinking about it even days later!

I found this a really fun and entertaining read! I really enjoyed the personalities of the characters and the setting of this book! I read this in a few sittings so it was a very easy read.
