I’ll start by saying the writing was heartfelt and captivating throughout. It was a brave story to tell, and I could feel the author’s authenticity on every page. The downside for me was that it was a little sporadic. The timeline jumped around quite a bit, and it was hard to keep track of where we were in the author’s life. It also seemed like big, important pieces were left out completely, such as when and how two additional kids entered the picture amid all the turmoil. That made it somewhat confusing at times.

I'm always reading memoirs and this ARC from NetGalley was no exception. It details a woman's mental health and her relationships and history with friends and death. It was hard at times to read because of the topic and I did find myself skipping through. Four stars. Brave for writing it all down.

Wow. To think of the work that Lindsey Frazier had to do to be able to tell her story so eloquently without seeming spiteful or angry. The self-discovery in this book was also very inspiring.

Intriguing Memoir

What a interesting title in Oh Love, Come Close: A Memoir by Lindsey Frazier. I haven't read work from this author before, and I enjoyed Lindsey's story. This is a unforgettable story, as Lindsey shares her life, and a lot of interesting realizations, comes to her after a very life changing event, marriage. There are some triggers that she probably never realized that she had, or things that happened to her that she didn't remember, or she just put away. Her emotions are all over the place, and she's not sure she is where she wants to be. Her husband, is not the trigger, but he loves her so much, and even when she says she wants out, he doesn't turn his back on her. It's a journey to self-discovery, and how, sometimes, we need outside help. And for Lindsey, she is lucky to have someone who loves her, and she just needs to learn to love herself. Oh Love, Come Close: A Memoir is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. Honest and forthright, this book will not disappoint. This is a must read!
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free, it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

I really wanted to love this book, but I just could not get through it.

It starts off intriguing, but falls into a pit of despair that somehow permeates throughout the entire story.

Yes, life can be hard, but this book just seems to be feeling sorry for itself.
