This is the first book I have read by this author. I can 100% confirm I will go back for more. I went in blind literally choosing the book off the basis of the cover. It did not disappoint. I will definitely read more of the authors books in the future.

Completely adorable. Finished in a weekend and loved every second. This is a book I’ll be telling friends to look for at a bookstore and when I go to a bookstore making sure they have on a featured table.

I really liked the message this story had at it's core. Yes, this is a story about girl meets boy etc. But it's main message was that its OK to set boundaries for yourself, even with the people closest to you. It's such an important message for everyone to learn and I think the author wrote it in a very clear and respectful way.

The only criticism I have is that sometimes I felt the story skipped forward a little too much. Chapters came to a very abrupt end and it wasn't a smooth read. I often just wanted anotrt paragraph or so to move into the next chapter. I also found that some of the other characters weren't delved into enough. It felt like you knew everyone at a very surface level but I would have loved for some of the main characters to have had a bigger part. Ie. Jean, Duke, Kaiya.

Overall I enjoyed the story, I would have just like a little bit more from the characters and a little smoother transitioning between sections. Otherwise, it's a brilliant story and a very important message.

This was just one big smile in book form. With a relationship rooted in growth rather than drama, and a focus on the often-ignored but essential world of labor and delivery healthcare, I never wanted to put this book down. There were so many wonderful layers to this book, from reminding us to set boundaries to not putting off our goals until the "right" time. Also any book that can delve into ice cream flavors as much as this book is has my undying love. Highly enjoyable breezy read!

I was really interested in the premise of this book but I didn't love it like I wanted to. I had a lot of trouble connecting with the characters and overall the story felt a little too juvenile for me.

Okay so first of all, this wasn't a rom-com, it was more of a finding-yourself (?) story with a little romance sprinkled in.

From the get-go, Grant, the love interest, was very confusing. Most stuff he did honestly didn't make a lot of sense and throughout the book, we didn't learn enough about his background to fully understand him and get over the confession. Thus, he felt very underdeveloped for a love interest and it made me disinterested in the relationship in general. I couldn't really feel the connection between Sam, the main character, and Grant. Usually with rom-coms, one of the characters will do something that the other is oblivious to but clearly shows that they like them and I'll start rooting for them. With this one, I was honestly just as confused as Sam was about Grant's intentions and their romance didn't develop well enough, not enough for me to connect.

On the other hand, the side characters (Jehan & Duke) were really good. They were developed, and funny and made me root for them. I loved their relationship and interaction with Sam.

As I pointed out this was more about Sam's story about spreading yourself too thin, perfectionism, and spreading yourself too thin with a little bit of romance with Grant sprinkled in. And even though I liked the book I HATE it when I download an ARC advertised as romance and it's not so I'm giving it 3 stars.

Do you love Greys Anatomy? If yes, then this book is for you! This enemies(ish) to lovers story is exactly what I needed to get me through the winter break of Greys. This book was SO much a Greys season condensed down to a book and I wasn’t mad about it!

Anatomy of a Meet Cute didn’t actually have a meet cute- more of a meet in an embarrassing encounter on an airplane and then find out he will be your coworker who is more senior and experienced than you are. Poor Sam! Dr. Samantha Holbrook is starting her first hospital position and attempting to gain funding for a program that would utilize doulas to help support their pregnant population when she first encounters Dr. Grant Gao. The two end up working together on the project, which is just one of the many responsibilities Sam has signed up for. She is also planning a party for her mom, playing basketball with one roommate, and helping her other roomie with wedding plans. All of this adds up to a ton of pressure and possibly a breakdown.

I loved the parts of the story that focused on the clinic, the doula program, and patient care. As an RN I know how much help doulas can be and how patients sometimes trust them more than the medical establishment, so that storyline was interesting to me.

I liked reading about Sam’s relationships with her roommates and seeing them all support one another. Sam’s relationship with her mother is a very thorny issue throughout the story and one that got a bit too much focus in my eyes. Her need to please everyone began with wanting to please her mom, and leads to her taking on way too many things and almost becoming unsympathetic for me. She even states it herself that she tends to overextend and then just keeps doing it! I do wish she would have come to terms with that a bit more easily. That made the middle of the book drag a bit for me.

A very light and enjoyable afternoon read. ‘Twas definitely time worth spending over.. I loved Hannah and Davey's character’s growth and development especially I loved how much so their relationship bloomed and blossomed. So overall I really liked and loved it

I really liked it at the start, but then the conflict was not for me. I felt like they were having a nonsense fight

Solid 4 star book! I love a hospital setting romance, this was one of the best ones I’ve read. The characters felt honest and real and tangible.

Ok...starting off...this was a cute story. I liked the friendship between Sam & her friends. However, I was annoyed with Sam a lot. She was almost too much.
Additionally, some parts of the story felt rushed or lacked details. There was also some editorial issues including one part where Kaiya says something about what's going to happen with Sheila...but Sam responds with "thank you Sheila..."
Overall, it was a good story...I just didn't click with it.

This book was so fun to read! It follows Dr Sam on her fellowship journey in San Francisco, where she juggles many a different ball whilst surrounded by a loving set of friends, a tense family and a dr she can’t help but fall for.

As a people pleaser who has been told many a time they need to work on setting boundaries, I really related to Sam.

And the way Grant picked up on her small quirks and used that to support and her charm her was lovely.

Overall this was a really cute read and makes you even more grateful for our healthcare professionals who always put patients first.

I really enjoyed this story. Our heroine is a new doctor who’s trying to balance her long working hours, with a very demanding and manipulative mother, and an ambitious project which could make or break her career. Early on you realise that she’s a people pleaser who takes too much on because she doesn’t feel she can say no, and as a reader at times I felt stressed on her behalf with everything she had to do, but it stayed interesting, and was nice see how things ended up. The romance was nicely done, and there were the usual misunderstandings to be worked out

This one is for you greys anatomy fans!
I absolutely demolished this book in one sitting. it was like watching an episode of greys anatomy but i did not have to wait next week or for another season it was all there for me to read.
Grant is the mcdreamy doctor you all want to fall in love with. just there at your finger tips but too far away to touch..
This book is not to be missed it needs to be read especially with tea and biscuits.

I loved this book, fresh, funny, fabulous and fun. It's a warm hearted read. With a great will they won't they storyline running throughout. I enjoyed meeting and getting to know the characters and would recommend to all who love chicklit and romance books.

2.5 out of 5. I sometimes don't read a lot of the blurbs before I read an ARC, so this one got me by the name - great meet cutes are my favorite part of romances. However I should have gotten a hint when there was no description on goodreads or amazon that this might not be great. Anatomy of a meet cute is because it happens in dental school and the two characters meet when they collide with each other in the hallway of the school. First of all, in meet cute senses this is the most generic of them al. If you are going to have meet cute in the title make it epic. Take a page from Just Haven't met you yet and lets have mixed up baggage or a mixed up call of The Man I Neve Met . Apart from that I really forgot most of the book once it was done. It was cute and a fast read, but with all the other fabulous romances I've read even just this month, this just didn't cut through the noise.

This books had absolutely perfect character development. This book has sooo much depth. It’s defo a must read

I picked this book because the cover was pretty and showed characters of color in the medical field. The title had all the makings of a romantic comedy. I thought it would be perfect for me. In realty, I found myself questioning if I should just give up on it.

I’ll start with my own bias. I work in medicine. I spend 5 or more days a week for the last ten years in teaching hospitals, working alongside physicians in every stage of their learning process. I needed this book to live a little more in medical reality. The main character was a fellow and stated she was on ob/gyn early on - except later her only reference was medical school. A fellow would have already completed residency, so the main characters “awwww shucks this is what a hospital is really like” mentality made no sense for someone who should have already worked in a hospital as a physician for three years. I was willing to suspend reality for a great rom com, but the characters did not have a lot of noticeable chemistry and there was very little comedy. The last few chapters of the book were my favorite and if the rest of the book had more of that vibe, I would have liked it so much more.

Sam is starting her fellowship at the underfunded SF Central. Relocating from Ohio to San Fransisco and managing a toxic relationship with her mother has her on edge when she has a “meet cute” with a pretentious physician on a flight. No surprises here, but he turns out to be one of her new co-workers. As she takes on an overly ambitious schedule, while trying to help her roommates, and navigate a possible romantic relationship she learns how her own trauma has shaped (and in some cases potentially sabotaged) her relationships with those who care for her the most.

I’m gonna have to give this book 3 stars. Looking at the title and cover I was expecting a work place Romance with a cute/happy meeting. Kinda like Greys Anatomy. However, that wasn’t really what I got from this book, unfortunately. So when Sam and Grant meet on the plane in the first couple pages, it’s not really cute. There’s a medical emergency. It’s more awkward than anything. Sam later begins to hate Grant, even though that’s not really the impression that we were given when they first parted ways. In fact she was quite nasty to him at times for no real reason. As the book goes on we learn a lot about Sam and her upbringing, issues with pregnancies, costs and access for medical assistance during a pregnancy and after for lower/middle class patients. What we don’t learn a lot about is Grant! I would have loved to see and learn more about him.

The positives about this book I’d say is it has a smart, high-achieving female main character. There’s also loads of diversity.
