The story was good but I think a different narrator would’ve been better in my personal opinion. Still, I love to read Christmas books, so I found ways to enjoy the story! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me this book in exchange for my honest review!

I loved reading the story of Chloe and Peter, who have families that have feuded for years. Their families have food court restaurants in the mall, but the holidays are coming and the mall is in trouble. Chloe is a photographer who wants to take her art from Mall Santa pictures to a higher level of fine art. Peter is struggling under the weight of helping his family succeed while carving out a life. They find moments to forge a friendship, and share dinners, and eventually sparks fly between them. They decide to work together to save the mall that houses the American dream for both of their families. This YA romance is super sweet and the banter and antics are adorable!

The narration for this one was just fine, but there was really nothing that stood out to push it up a notch. Yes, there was a lot of emotion in her voice and the pauses and timing were meaningful. I might have enjoyed some additional actors for the characters, as the older Asian characters sounded almost like a caricature, which I didn't love.

This is a fun and festive enemies-to-lovers YA romance about teens whose families own rival Asian restaurants in a shopping mall. Though the title suggests this is a Christmas book, it starts early enough in the holiday season to make a wonderfully cozy fall or Thanksgiving read as well. I really enjoyed the Hallmark-esque tone of the story and the way the feud between the two restaurants fuels and sometimes interferes with the main characters' relationship.

This book was fun to read. The characters were compelling and the enemies to lovers trope was down well.

Two competing family restaurants, and the kids that don’t hate each other, despite the tension between their parents try to save the mall from being sold before Christmas.

This is definitely less rivals to lovers than I expected from the description(I feel like it was more annoyance than anything!) I feel like it’s hard to be rivals when you don’t even know the reason your parents are fighting. I get the competitive spirit between them, but the grudge lasted so long!

The post work dinner swaps were so cute, and I loved that they worked together to save the mall. I do wish there was more about the mall community and other tenants, and I appreciated that it wasn’t too Christmassy!

What a fun little holiday YA romance! There were some fun forbidden love vibes and lots of depth to these characters as they try to navigate their lives, save their family businesses, and find love. Fun read I recommend for Christmastime.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

Chloe has never liked Peter. Really, she comes by it naturally as their parents own rival restaurants in the mall and don’t get along either. However, their holiday season jobs at the mall are very close and they can’t avoid seeing each other. As a new developer begins to send out eviction notices to businesses in the mall, Peter and Chloe team up to try to save the mall.

This is a cute teen romance filled with a bit of angst, family drama and the most delicious food descriptions. It’s a fast paced read and very sweet. I really enjoyed how Chloe and Peter’s relationship shifted from rivals to friends to more over the course of the story. My only complaint was that I was hoping for a bit more Christmas.

I enjoyed the audiobook narrated by Jay Lai and Jennifer Sun Bell. They did a great job bringing the story to life.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Fire, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the advanced copies.

Very fun, cozy Christmas read! I didn't enjoy the narration of this book and ended up reading it in print. I liked the diverse cast and holiday feel!

Absolutely loved this cozy, multicultural novel. 5 stars.

The very happening bond between Chloe and Peter hooked me from the start, and it is evident how much they loath each other. Seeing Chloe in her element as a photographer is quite relaxing, along with Peter's easygoing nature.

This is a dual POV story, which I enjoyed wholeheartedly, the words flowing and light to read. If you are an adult wanting to dabble a bit into YA or a middle grade reader who would like to advance into the next age slot, I think this book is a great place to start.

As an Asian, I liked the representation, which for once wasn't exaggerated or pathetically mild. I loved that the whole story was set in a mall, based on Asian restaurants.

I believe that this is a damn good book- my first by Suzanne Park but definitely not the last- worth reading over and over. Totally worth the money, and it's gonna look so pretty on your bookshelf. Don't think too much and go get this book- I recommend it 100%

A very cute enemies to lovers holiday read!! I adored both families and loved the little mystery between the 2 of them. A lighthearted read! Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I listened to about half of this audiobook but it would not hold my attention and I kept missing large chunks.

I love Christmas and Christmas books are my favorite, but I could not finish this book. There really wasn't much Christmas in this book, besides taking Santa pics, and I don't think this book should qualify as a Christmas book. I understand this is a young adult book, so I hope this book will do better with its targeted audience, but it wasn't for me.

I received a copy of this audiobook from netgalley for an honest review.

The mall, the parents, the friends, the main characters, Oh my! I loved everything about this book! She had to make such hard decisions to help keep the mall and her family business open. He was doing his best but falling short. But in the end, it all worked out.

I thought this was a really cute book. I didn’t feel like it was very Christmasy though. This book brought me back to my young adult, high school days. The romance is clean and light in this book. The characters go through a-lot of challenges in this book. I felt like the cover didn’t portray that. But overall, I enjoyed it! I recommend checking it out.

#audiobookreview The Christmas Clash by Suzanne Park

🤔where did ya come from?🤷🏼‍♀️
- I received a copy of the audiobook from the publisher (Dreamscape) via NetGalley.

😍the good stuff😍
- I liked the premise of two rival families owning restaurants, even as cliché as that premise is.

🫢my complaints🤫
- The narrators were annoying, especially the one who was reading Chloe’s POV.
- Chloe had a lot of weird moments where she’d obsessively talk about herself whether it had to do with moving the plot forward or not. It felt forced.
- Peter and his weird basketball game where we got a play by play felt entirely irrelevant to the plot or the book at all 🙄
- I never understood who was actually running Santa’s village to allow teenagers to create new backdrops for their photos 🤷🏼‍♀️ That seemed really weird.
- I wanted to like this story, but none of it felt very genuine to me and it all felt sort of forced together. Some parts just felt like the author was trying to up their word count irrelevant to the actual plot. It needed some editing and rewriting in my opinion. I know it’s YA, but YA doesn’t have to come across so cheesy and fake.

☺️the tropes☺️
- Rival families
- Forbidden love
- Saving the family businesses

⚠️the warnings⚠️
- This is boring. Not the Christmas book you want to read.
- Some racism. Some is addressed and some is kind of “their my friend so it’s okay” which I didn’t like.

rating: ⭐️⭐️.5

I got an advanced copy of this book when I met the author at the LA Times Festival books earlier this year, and I received an advanced audiobook from NetGalley. Thanks to both Suzanne Park and NetGalley.

Chloe can't stand Peter, and their families can't stand each other either: their parents operate rival restaurants in the Riverwood Mall food court in Tennessee (Chloe's family makes Korean food while Li's restaurant is Chinese). Now, it's the holiday season, and Chloe works as an Elf photographer for Santa while Peter works at a virtual reality North Pole experience nearby. When they learn the mall is being demolished after the start of the new year, they must join forces to stop the impending closure of their second home.

I liked the idea of Peter and Chloe being from rival families and having to come together to save their mall at Christmastime, so that is what first drew me to the book. I also loved how their romance went at a natural pace and didn't feel rushed (I don't like rushed romances). It was a great enjoyment to also hear the audiobooks told in two different voices as well as see alternating chapters between the two leads.

If I had to point out something I didn't like about the book, it would be the lightly sprinkled use of cuss words. It wasn't heavy, but I'm not a fan of cursing.

This book is a light-hearted young adult Romance rivals-turned-lovers-unite kind of story vibe, a perfect holiday read for young adult readers.

This might be more of a 3.5 but I really liked the representation in this book so rounded up. This book didn't have as much Christmas as I was expecting but I really liked the characters and their growth. Sometimes I felt it went into too much detail but since this is for young adults, maybe they will enjoy this. A great cast of characters that has something to teach everyone.

The Christmas Clash was a fun, easy read. The characters were cute and the Romeo and Juliet aspect was handled well. This was what I was hoping for from Salt and Sugar but never quite got.

At times there was a little too much going on, and I could have done without the detailed descriptions of body parts tingling when they kissed and whatnot since they're minors, but it never fully crossed the line into creepy and if I were 16 myself I'd probably be fine with it.

This is a cute YA romcom with two rival teens thrown together to save the mall (and their parents food court businesses). Some Romeo and Juliet feels with the rival families and their forbidden friendship. This takes place at the holidays, but I don't think it's particularly a Christmas story. The focus is two teenagers who find out both of their family businesses are in trouble and take it upon themselves to try and fix it. I think teens will really enjoy this one.
