First off I have to say I love the narrator of this story. I give them props for the British accent. I love Ivy and all her quirks. I also love how James helps Ivy to let loose. James is all kinds of dreamy with his British accent and you are screaming at both characters to realize their true feelings for each other. I loved the minor characters as well. Luke was very protective of his sister and it made me love his character even more. And Daisy I think she was by far my favorite minor character such a peppy person who’s very Supportive of her best friend. I can’t wait for Daisy and Luke story and I hope in the process we get to catch up with James and Ivy a bit too.

4/5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. Ivy and James have been enemies since they were children. James is Ivys brothers best friend and growing up they hated each other. After not seeing each other for a few years they meet again at Ivys brothers wedding and they hate each other… they think. They start to see each other in a different light and it’s a really good story to unfold.

I loved seeing their love grow. My only wish is wanting a little more sexual tension, but otherwise it’s a really great book 😊

The Next Worst Thing is a cute love story. The whole enemy turned saver of the day turned could I have actually been harboring feelings for this person my while life and I'm just realizing it now type of cute love story. The characters are super likeable, the dialogue is fun and the situations are sometimes laugh out loud funny. You won't be disappointed if you picked up this quick read.

I love this audiobook!!! It's dual POV along with dual narrators and let me tell you the man's voice is *chef's kiss* perfection!! This is one I'll definitely be purchasing the audio and physical books! Our male narrator does a fantastic job with all the accents! Our MMC is British and his boss has a Southern drawl and I truly enjoyed listening to him!

This has some of my favorite tropes including enemies to lovers and brother's best friend! I love the supportive friend and family dynamics. Their banter was funny and so were some of their experiences! There's also some sad stuff with Ivy and Luke's parents being deceased and it added to the family relationships. I like how strong and funny Ivy is and James is totally swoon worthy!

This is the perfect clean, light, fluffy small town romance I need sometimes to lighten my mood! It's one of those feel good reads!! I can't wait to se where this series goes!

I thought this book lacked focus. There was Ivy’s work, James’ work, their relationship, and Luke’s wedding. It was a little bit of everything that never seemed to mesh. I liked Ivy and James, but I would have liked to see a little fire from at least one of them. And I can’t understand why nobody was saying anything about Luke and Lenore. Clearly something was off, bit nobody who loves him says anything. Why?? All that being said, I would probably give this author another try on the next book. I do appreciate a nice clean romance.

Thank you Netgally for the audio-arc in exchange for an honest review.

*3.5

Super cute and fluffy romcom, that's kind of enemies to lovers kind of not. I liked the back and forth between Ivy and James. I think a little more communication could have solved a LOT of problems early on, but then again that would kind of squash the whole story and make it VERY short. It's a very gentle romance, so not a lot of spice. Which could be good or bad depending on how much spice you like in your romance books (I really liked it)

I listened to the audiobook, and can I absolutely LOVED the narrators for both Ivy and James (ESPECIALLY James, because that accent? *chefs kiss*)

Big thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to try out an ALC of this book.

A fun hallmark kind of feel. This lighthearted novel had me smiling from the beginning. I love the characters and Ivy's flaws when she gets flustered. Underdog girl trying to prove that she's a professional business woman who fights for what she loves.

The characters are bland, the book is boring, and the plot is so rote it feels like the author filled it in with a paint by numbers kit. The only interesting thing about this book was the mystery of why the bride was so disinterested in her own wedding, and that mystery was never solved. The author clearly just used the fiancé as a plot device rather than creating an actual character.

I guess this book is a 2.5 because it is readable (I guess) and if a person who has never read a romance before picks it up they might be able to enjoy it well enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publishers for allowing me the ARC of this Book. This was my first book by Sara Jane Woodley. I really enjoyed the book as a whole. The Quirky granddaughter trying to make the wedding of the year for her brother and keep her grandparents hotel going for them, is the perfect set up for a rom-com. Although, I did find the foreshadowing of the soon to be wife, and the hated brothers friend turned love interest to be heavy at times. I wish that there was a little more of the back story of the main characters, and a little less of the hinting at the runaway bride, but over all I really enjoyed the environment, the characters, and the hallmark worthy storyline and ending!!! I will definitely be looking for more from Woodley and hopefully a sequel for the brother and bestfriend!

School chums grow up and their misunderstandings get in the way of a passion that has always been there. It’s always fun when a wedding gets people together and in this story, old friends and new friends take on changing the dynamics of relationships … good and not so good. This was an enjoyable story that kept my interest. In my mind, it played out like a Hallmark movie … hotel setting and wedding preparations with lots of side characters.

I listened to the audio of The Next Worse Thing in a day! It was a fun and quick listen. The characters were enjoyable, I loved the chemistry with Ivy & James, it was fun to watch their relationship evolve and spark again.

If you’re looking for a good, quick rom com, I would highly recommend this one!

I loved this audio book!

Ivy is helping her brother plan his wedding, to a bride who appears more interested in her bachelorette party than the wedding. Ivy’s brother surprises her with the fact that his best friend, James, and Ivy’s nemesis will be attending the wedding, and coming in early. In a effort to play nice they call a truce, and vow to work together to help make it a great wedding. While working together they find they may have their own sparks with each other. 😉

Both narrators did a great job and really helped to bring these characters to life. I enjoyed how some parts when back to the other persons POV.
Overall a great brother’s best friend romance!

This was such a sweet romcom with excellent character chemistry! Enemies to lover is probably one of my favorite tropes and the brother's best friend trope is something I've been recently getting into.

Ivy is just trying to get her family's inn publicity while organizing her brother's wedding. James is in town because he's the best man at the wedding and he's helping with the wedding festivities. They grew up together and have been feuding for so long. There are some pretty entertaining scenes (the bridesmaid dress and the photographer) while still having deep parts where the characters grow and support one another.

Overall, this is a clean romance with fun characters and a lovely setting. Oh, and did I mention the narrator is British? Swooooooon!

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape!

Book 194 of 2022
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I truly enjoyed this rom com! I had never read anything by this author before, so I was excited to jump in and see where the story took me. In this story, we have two main characters who grew up together. James is Ivy’s brother’s best friend. He’s back in town for Ivy’s brother’s wedding & the two of them are forced to work together to help pull off this wedding. Ivy is also trying to get her family’s inn on the map/local wedding circuit. Meanwhile, her grandparents are considering selling the inn. This has all the sweet, clean makings of a Hallmark movie I would be sure to watch. Fans of Sarah Adams will love this one!

The only reason I deducted half a star was for the quality of the audio. It really had nothing to do with the story line. The characters’ voices were garbled…almost like they were talking while gargling water. It was super frustrating as I listened. The narrators were fantastic. This was something to do with the production of the audio. I’m hoping since this was an advanced copy, the final/edited version will be fixed for a more enjoyable listening experience.

I look forward to reading the next in this series when it’s released!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This book was just recently released! #ad

super cute read from start to finish- including the cover and title!!

Small town, dual POV, rivals to lovers, older brother's best friend, clean romance

MINI SPOLIER BELOW FOR POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING
(It's blurred if you don't want to be spoiled!)

solid 4.5⭐ book

I loved the characters and especially loved seeing them grow within their groups. There are a few characters I never felt a connection with but I also feel like it was done that way on purpose- I just wish we got more from them even if didn't make us like them more.
This is book 1 in a series and I'm excited to read the next one since I feel like the set up for what happens next was well done with sprinkles throughout 😍

I loved the banter between the main characters, but do wish there was a little more tension other than miscommunication. The whole concept of being the older brother's best friend and surrounding the older brother's wedding day left SO MANY opportunities for secret meetings, jealousy, stares across the room, more backstory from their youth- but what we got was adorable and well written.

The writing is easy to read and the audio book was dual voice actors who were easy to listen to.

MINI SPOILER BELOW FOR POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING

This book is flirty, funny, and a very lighthearted read. It felt like listening to a hallmark movie. Very cute! I will be recommending this to people who like YA romance.

I made the mistake of not reviewing this as soon as I finished it. I had to read the synopsis and some reviews to remind myself what I wanted to write. I feel like that is a review it itself. Mostly forgettable contemporary romance. I was more interested in some of the supporting cast than I was the main characters. I guessed the ending halfway through the book. Pleasant read, but nothing to shout from the rooftops about.
