This is the second book in the Regan Merritt series but, in my opinion, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Regan’s son, Chase, was at home playing video games with his Dad when he was shot and killed. Regan was working for the U.S. marshal’s and transporting a prisoner at the time of the murder. After laying her son to rest, she quit the marshal’s thinking that her line of work had everything to do with the death of her son.

Regan’s friend and former partner, Tommy Granger had been secretly working on Chase’s case because he believed that Chase wasn’t the target of such violence. He’s headed out the door to give all evidence to his boss but a sniper is waiting in some trees near his home, shoots Tommy. After shooting him in the head, to make sure he’s dead, he steals his cell phone and documents.

After Tommy’s death, Regan must figure out what he knew and why it got him killed. She’s working with the local police, the FBI, the marshal’s, and even a prisoner who was put away for life. She’s trying to protect her friends but she’s also putting her own life on the line. Once she figures out the mystery, will she be next?

This book was really hard to get through with its 400 pages. The beginning was thrilling and completely sucked me in but I became bored and had to push myself to get through it and just wanted it to be over.

This is the second book in the US Marshall Regan series by Alison Brennan. I didn't read the first book so I was a little lost but overall I really enjoyed it. Great characters and a enjoyable story. Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy for honest review.

#AllisonBrennan does it again! What an amazing follow up to The Sorority Murder.

Regan Merritt is back when a friend of hers was murdered because he has some new information about her son's death . What that new information is is both shocking and twisted. I personally never saw it coming.

I hope we get to see more of Regan in future books.

This is the 2nd book in the Reagan Meritt series. I have to say, that at times, I found it to be very verbose. I found myself skimming sections just wanting to get the good stuff. There were sections that had too much extraneous information. That's not to say I disliked it, I just found it unnecessarily long.

I did enjoy the story and I look forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

Thank you #netgalley and #htp #mira for the eARC.

This is the second Regan Merritt novel by Allison Brennan. Great characterization and a building plot, yet somehow I could not get into the story. Lots of repetition and filler information. I really came away not caring what happened. The story is lean, but I will look forward to more Regan adventures in the future.

Don't Open the Door follows the ex-US Marshall Regan as she attempts to see justice for the murder of her 10-year-old son. At the same time, she must clear her ex-husband's name as he is wanted for murder. This was not my favorite Allison Brennan novel. #2 in the series vibes. I think Regan is a great character and this installment didn't do her justice. Hopeful #3 makes up for it.

I loved this! I’m a huge sucker for botched investigation thrillers and the family has to go back and retrace everything the cops got wrong.

This story was fast paced and kept me guessing until the very end! Highly reccomend!

I didn't realize this was a sequel to her first book so I was a little lost, but overall I really enjoyed it! The empathy you feel for the characters are great and the mystery behind it had me from the very beginning. It was a good read and I am looking forward to going back and reading the first book!

This mystery/thriller is the second book in the Regan Merritt series. The book is so realistic it was very hard to put down. I felt like I was watching the action happening. Everything is so well described you can easily envision what it looks like. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery/thriller. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

A thrilling and fresh book that truly had me creeped out, and was perfect for a nighttime bedside read. Cold cases, familial relationships, secrets, mysteries... this one had it all, and plenty of twists.

I honestly loved this Regan Merritt sequel more than the first book! It’s more intense, action packed, gripping and exciting! This book may be also considered as a great standalone reading!

It opens with Tom Granger: confidante, one night stand, mentor, best friend of Regan, who is a powerful, determined Marshall, doing everything he can to solve Regan’s 11 years old son’s murder case. When he finds important clues, he arranges a meeting to inform his superior but he could never attend that meeting. Somebody hiding on the tree watching his moves across the house pulls the trigger to take his life just before Tom calls Regan and leaves a voice message.

In the meantime a nurse whose sister was involved into armed robbery, gets agitated when she doesn’t hear from detective Granger because he is the only one who can protect her cover and put her to the safe house. Only solution to save herself keep running.
Regan is devastated after hearing To ‘s death. There’s no one else to trust. Somebody in the FBI is corrupted and this person can be anyone close to her. She cannot trust her ex husband either who already betrayed her several times and keeps blaming her for their son’s dead.

Regan should return back to the service for digging through the case and finding the ugly truth about the corporation!

This is quiet brilliant mystery keep you alert, making you turn the pages faster to see how the big mystery will unfold.

For getting clearer answers, we get to wait for the next book. But this one is absolutely addictive page turner.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Publishing/ Mira for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. However, this is a free, consumer review of the sequel*

I gave the sorority murder of a 3.5. On the other hand, I gave this book a 4.They are standalone’s but have one character that is in both. I preferred this title because it was more heart wrenching and I enjoyed the plot a lot more. Great read if you are into true crime & justice.

Regan Merritt lost her son to a vicious murderer. She still wondered who really ordered his death. Her good friend has an idea. He is killed. Her ex husband might also. He is in danger. She is too. . She does not know who will help her. Who can be trusted…This is a cannot put down mystery written by a talented and gifted author. One of my favorite authors…I was hooked from the beginning to the end. A child…a friend…others killed…regan has to be careful, she does not give up. This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher for the copy. Curl up in a comfy chair…be transported to the world of doing good…and not so much…solve the mystery…

Regan Marshall’s life fell apart after the murder of her son. She believed her role as a US Marshall played a role in his death, even though her superiors and the FBI dismissed the idea. Her husband blamed her and their marriage imploded. Having left the Marshall’s, Regan is shocked when she gets a call from her former boss, who tells her he has new information about her son’s murder. When that same former boss is mysteriously killed himself, Regan knows she must return to service to uncover the truth once and for all
