In "Don't Open the Door", Allison Brennan has created an intricate web of deceit for her heroine Regan Merritt to untangle. Regan is still recovering from the loss of her young son Chase and the guilt she has associated with his murder. Believing that her job as a Federal Marshal put her son in the crosshairs of a murderer, Regan has left the Marshals and has been building new life in Arizona when she hears that her former colleague and close friend Tommy Granger was murdered. Knowing that Tommy had been working on his own time to solve her son's murder, Regan finds herself working to figure out what Tommy uncovered and how it tied to her son's death. While trying to retrace Tommy's steps, Regan finds herself in the middle of a huge conspiracy where nothing that she thought was true is actually true and perhaps, her former husband was the real target instead of Chase. Hold onto your hats because the reader is in for a wild ride that will keep you at the edge of your seat! I hope that Allison Brennan continues Regan's story in future installments.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this book for an honest opinion. After reading a book by Allison Brennan I have been absolutely drawn to anything she has written. Even though this book is a sequel it could also be read as a standalone. Brennan has a way of drawing you into the story where you just don't want to put the book down. The author does a great job of developing characters. Regan is easy to relate to and root for. This is what a mystery/thriller should be. Definitely read this one!!

I love Allison Brennan and this one did not disappoint!
It's a great mystery that brings you through lots of twists and turns. The end was a little bit abrupt for my taste, I would have liked to have had a little bit more detail around what happened, but I did like the resolution of everything.
Definitely a worthwhile read

Don't Open The Door is Allison Brennan's second installment to the Regan Merritt series. I myself have not read the first one so I wasn't sure what to expect with this.
This was a great suspense mystery with a twist that came right out of nowhere at the end.
Regan is a mother suffering the loss of her young son and now has lost her partner and friend from her job as a U.S. Marshall. She'll stop at nothing to find out what happened and perhaps it will lead her to the answers she's been waiting on for her son's death also.
This was a pretty easy to follow but I think it would be advantages to read the first book in the series.

Thank you #NetGalley #DontOpenTheDoor #MIRA for this ARC

Started slow and I had trouble getting in to it but when it started coming together it did so with a momentum that just carried me along. Good characters.

This is the second in the Regan Merritt series and I really enjoyed Sorority Murder. This deals with her son’s murder and who was ultimately responsible and how it all leads to not an old case of hers which is what she always thought and blamed herself for but that it was actually her husband Grant that was the target. Their son Chase was just collateral damage and not meant to be hurt at all. Her friend Tommy was investigating Chases murder and was murdered before he could turn in the evidence he collected about who it was that sent the hit and why. This was really great and I loved the mystery and how all the layers unfolded with who was involved and why and the loose ends that the villains were trying to tie up which just lead to who was actually responsible. It was really great to have the murder of Regan’s son solved and that she has the peace of mind knowing it wasn’t her fault and she can go home in peace. The conspiracy that was uncovered while trying to figure out why they tried to kill her ex-husband Grant was really interesting. This was a great book, the action was really good and Regan held her own against the assassin sent to kill Grant so he wouldn’t talk to the cops.
Thanks to Mira and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

The writing is phenomenal. I couldn’t put the book down. It’s full of angst. It was such a sad story. My heart broke for Regan. This book is all about moving forward and getting closure. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Don't Open the Door by Allison Brennan is a continuation of the Regan Merrit series. I have been waiting for more of Regan's story as she pursues the truth behind the murder of her son. Regan had been a US Marshal, but her husband Grant blamed her and her commitment to her job as a reason for the death of their son. This story has layers of mystery, murder, and secrets as Regan must decide if she can trust Grant, her ex. I enjoy the character of Regan and how determined she is to find the truth.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Allison Brennan knows how to write suspense. In this book, former US Marshal Regan Merritt is healing from the murder of her son by a hired assassin. The FBI's conclusion that the murder was connected to Regan's job doesn't sit well with her former partner, Tommy. He takes a leave of absence from the US Marshal's office in order to do his own investigation. When he finally figures out that the FBI was wrong and the murder was related to Regan's ex-husband's law firm, Tommy is shot by an assassin. Regan begins her own investigation. Will she figure it out before more people die? It's a great story.

A well written story with plenty of action and suspense which made it hard to set the book aside. A great deal of emotion added to intense feelings during the read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC copy of this book to read and review. All of these thoughts are my own.

I’ve read quiet a few of Allison Brennan’s books, so I was excited when I seen this one on NetGalley. I will say it’s a good suspenseful and thriller book but it was kind of lengthy. I will also say that it wasn’t a favorite of hers that I’ve read.

It wasn’t a bad book. The plot was good and the story over all was decent but I don’t know, it just didn’t really click with me. I love thrillers and mystery books but it just wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. I didn’t really like the switching between characters in this book either. I wish it just would’ve stuck with one person’s point of view.

3 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. The author does a great job developing the characters and the story flows really well. I love a great crime drama and this one did not disappoint.

This book is part 2 of a series but I don’t feel like you need to read the first book before reading this one.

This is #2 in the Regan Merritt series. I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than the first one, as it focuses in on why Regan’s son was killed. Lots of mystery!

Former US Marshal Regan Merritt never bought the FBI's story surrounding the murder of her ten-year-old son. Neither did her former partner, Tommy. After working off-the-books, Tommy is heading back to the office to layout a complicated case to his boss - one that different significantly from the FBI's story. Upon leaving his house, Tommy is murdered, and Regan rushes to determine what happened to Tommy and perhaps, finally, get an understanding as to what happened to her son. Ms. Brennan throws Regan into a a complicated situation with her former boss, the FBI, her former husband, and his law firm. It's an incredibly deep and wonderful novel - the reader can feel Regan's angst over the past, as well as a glimpse of what her future could be. As always, Ms. Brennan knocks it out of the ball park! This is a must read! Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, MIRA for an advanced reader version of this book; the opinions expressed are my own.

This book is non stop action. The plot is so intricately twisted who can you really trust. If you like Lucy Kincaid you will LOVE Regan Merritt! Regan is a kick ass chick who doesn't stop until she gets to the truth. Hands down one of my favorite characters in a series!

Good mystery in the Regan Merritt series. Is a longer-than-necessary read with convoluted language at times but has several good storylines and mystery moments. The action continues throughout the book as the various schemes are revealed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

This was at times very difficult for me to read. This book seemed very long and was hard to get through.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review- Allison can really write a thriller!
Regans son Chase is murdered and her husband blames her and her job which leads to their marriage failing,

Why does she feel they wanted to kill her husband instead of her son? Who would want to kill her son and why? Follow along for a wild ending!

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this wonderful suspense novel by Brennan. It had action, a crime to solve and strong characters that you were able to cheer for. This is the second in the Regan Merritt series. This story is bringing us back to when Regan decided to walk away from her career with the US Marshall Office because she believed that her son, Chase was murdered because of a case she was on. Her former boss, Tommy has never stopped looking into Chase’s murder. He called Regan and left a message for her and letting her know that he had enough information to know why Chase was murdered. But before Regan could talk to Tommy he was ambushed and killed. Regan decides to come back to find out who killed Tommy and why Chase was murdered. Especially when she finds out that a lot of the clues lead back to her ex-husband, Grant. But Grant won’t talk about the situation and tries to avoid Regan until he ends up in trouble with the law. Read this great suspense novel by Brennan and find out if Regan is able to clear Grant, find out who killed Tommy and why Chase was killed.
