With the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, my daughter has had a lot of questions about who this woman was and why the world was mourning her. This book introduced her to Lilibet the princess, who grew into the Queen much of the world admired. It touched on the major points of her life and how that shaped her into the mother of a commonwealth of nations and how she may not have been born to be Queen, she rose to the occasion by putting others before herself.

I absolutely love reading this Little People, Big Dreams books because they tell you all about historic figures in a way that's easy to understand because the books are geared for kids.  As someone who rarely paid attention in history class (Where were Hamilton and SIX in the 00s?) there is a LOT I don't remember or never bothered to pay attention to in the first place so I like catching up on what I've missed in a cute and easy to learn way, even if I am an adult.

With the Queen's recent death, I had heard a bit more about her but this book starts when the future Queen was just a young girl and tells about how her father became King and she became the Heir, goes into her wedding to Prince Philip and then the death of her father which led to her becoming Queen.  It showed some of her harder moments as Queen and some of the fun ones she had as well.

Although this book was released recently, it only follows the Queen's life up until 2021.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.

👑 I really like this adorably illustrated Little People, Big Dreams book about the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

👑 This is a children’s book, so don’t look for details here. But it does mention some key items from her life, which I believe children will be interested in.

👑 I found it quite unusual that the story itself mentions her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and even her many Corgis, but doesn’t mention that she had four children of her own.

👑 There is additional information about QEII in the backmatter, including four real photographs of her.

👑 I have always been fascinated with the history of the British Monarchy and I’ve read dozens and dozens of books about the various Kings and Queens. I probably have more general knowledge about them than I do the leaders of my own country! I’m glad books like this exist to introduce young people to this same history that I love so much and to the Queen who reigned for so long.

Thank you @NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for an eARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Queen Elizabeth, has been a worldwide topic since her recent passing. This is a great children's book to introduce or explain why the world has reacted the way it has since the news of her death. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, with her series of Little People Big Dreams, makes another must-have book to add to your kid's collection. The attention to detail in the illustrations and the storytelling make young Queen Elizabeth a child like every child that reads her, with similar interests like their love for dogs, it's very humanizing.

I was sent a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, I love this book series. I love the artwork and the stories about influential people and how they got to that point. I also love The Queen. So I was very excited for this.

This book gave a good overview of the Queens life. It ends at her Platinum Jubilee, so no need to be worried about any sad parts.

I like how it started from when she was a little girl, and before her father became king.

The only thing is I wish it had included some more about what the Queen did during her reign. It seemed to glaze over that part for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story.

Myself and my 7 year old (will refer to him as RJ) are massive fans of the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ book series’. So I couldn’t wait to get access to this one so could read them together.

True to form, these books were beautifully illustrated, told great stories of remarkable people and left lots to talk about and discuss afterwards.

Since the passing of Prince Phillip, RJ has had a massive interest in the royal family. Continued with the jubilee and then sadly the queens passing - we’ve been buying a lot of books and things about the queen and the history of the royal family. He absolutely loved this one and I have to say, it’s been one of the best ones I’ve seen to date.

Review from RJ -
‘I really like the queen and I like reading about her. He’s corgis are cute. I like knowing what she does and about where she lives.’

We’ve already ordered a copy of this one for his collection, massively recommend!!

A sweet little biography about the late Queen Elizabeth II, perfectly pitched for young children. Beautiful illustrations as is standard with this series of books, with lots of facts and titbits of information. The books are perfect for any children who are developing an interest in the figures covered by the books.

A sweet book about Queen Elizabeth’s life. I love that the book introduces the reader to Elizabeth as a child and that the reader gets to watch her grow! Unfortunately the book didn’t touch much on her Christian faith, which was what motivated her to serve the way she did. It’s still a cute mini biography, but I felt it was lacking this important piece.

The illustrations are beautiful and fun to look at!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is another wonderful addition to the 'Little People BIG DREAMS' series, which introduces notable people to children. This book does a fantastic job of telling the Queen's life story in such a way that children can appreciate. The illustrator did a beautiful job with the drawings & color scheme ...... complimenting the story. There is so much to like about this book! This continues to be a great series for the kids!

I love Queen Elizabeth by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara! Queen Elizabeth is a biography geared toward kids. Since the Queen died a few weeks ago, it covers things from her birth and mentions her 70 years on the throne. Queen Elizabeth is a beautifully illustrated book and gives basic facts about the Queen. Queen Elizabeth is a perfect book book for kids just starting to learn about the Queen. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. I absolutely love this series, and when I saw this was available for request I HAD to do it! I loved the illustrations, and felt like it covered Queen Elizabeth's life in a good and varied way! Very educational, and extra good to have now that she has passed away and more kids might become aware of who she is / was!

Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara never disappoints in her Little People, Big Dreams series, and she certainly didn't miss the mark with Queen Elizabeth. This particular book caught my eye due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth and I believe it will demonstrate to young people how a young queen dedicated her life to service for her county and people.

Love this little book in the series on Queen Elizabeth. Hits all the high points and beauty of her life. Now that it’s being published just after her death, I would hope, though, that they would update it to include her death. But it may not.

This was such a cute book to read with the kiddos. After the death of Queen Elizabeth, just nice to read this book with little bits and pieces of her amazing life that you know and love. Beautiful pictures.

This is such a lovely simple book for kids. The pictures are really cute and simple for them to understand and the text explains things to them on a level that is not condecending. I would love to read more of these to my kids.

I recently moved to the UK. While I knew of Queen Elizabeth II, it wasn't much. But this little book goes a long way in introducing her to little minds across the world.

Like the other books in the series, this book too was on point on the writing and the beautiful illustrations. From the corgis to the palaces, the Queen in her wedding dress, the pictures were fantastic.

The book did a great job of summarising the life and work of a great Queen.
