Loved the latest instalment in the Kim Stone series. It captured my interest from page one, I kept reading late into the night as I couldn’t put it down. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series and this didn’t disappoint. Really good book that was thrilling and fast paced.

Hopefully you all know by now how much I love this series and with every review I write for each book I honestly struggle to put into words how good the book is. I honestly feel like I am constantly repeating myself! But clearly Marsons doesn’t have that problem. From the word go she pulls you into the story and keeps you there until the very last page.

Each book she writes is fresh and has a new angle on things. I am literally blown away by how good this series is. I keep saying it and will say it again….this is her best book yet…..Each book simply gets better and better there is no doubt about that.

I love that I feel like I am catching up with old friends. And for me they feel so real. Set in the Black Country where I live. But in this story we are transported to the rural side over of the area over Bridgenorth way. What us Black Country people call the scenic quiet side. So you would not expect any kind of crime to happen this way. Which is one of the things I loved about this story. When Marsons puts a whole new spin on things.

Hidden Scars is so, so good! It has totally blown me away. Ticking all the boxes for me….I can’t recommend it enough. Giving it all the stars. Now I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next.

Massive thank you to Kim Nash for a copy and for inviting me to take part on this tour.

Another excellent book in one of my favourite series. Kim is returning from a harrowing situation in the last book which would break most people, and is meant to be returning slowly. But we all know Kim, that just ain’t gonna happen. Whilst she is meant to return on light duties she quickly dispatches her temporary rep,a end to and gets stuck into a case which she feels has been glossed over.

Kim shows her normal doggedness on this one and within it the author takes on the controversial subject of Conversion Therapy and whether this is playing a role in a number of suicide / murders. Angela Marsons treads agent line in this book both in exploring the therapy as well as in overseeing a tough return to the fray for Kim.

I really cannot recommend this book and the series more, Angela Marsons keeps the books fresh and has developed such a great group of characters that you care passionately about what happens to them. Currently my favourite crime fiction series out there and I strongly recommend this.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and net galley for providing me with a review copy of this book for an open, fair and honest review.

I didn't think this series could still surprise me after Six Graves but Angela Marson played her magic again and i read it in one setting.
That said I was happy to catch up with Kim and the characters, the excellent mystery kept me guessing and hooked.
Another winner, highly recommended
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

What an enjoyable read this was. One of the things Marsons achieves, seemingly effortlessly, is a freshness which I largely attribute to the development of her characters over the series arc.
In this one Kim is faced with multiple challenges, physical, mental and practical and the team dynamicssee her through.
Hidden Scars is an exploration of the effects of conversion therapy and is a much needed wake up call that, although rare, these sorts of organisations still exist. The subject matter was handled delicately and yet didn't hold back on exposing the appalling practice of conversion therapy.
Marsons research is on pointe and the plot was seamlessly woven.
No doubt about it, this gets a 5***** from me.

Another fabulous Kim Stone case and what an absolute Escher this one is.

Literally back from the dead Kim is plagued by nightmares of her near death experience and her team are deflated at the treatment they receive from her stand in.

Crashing back in Kim and the team look to solve the deaths of patients from a clinic who provide a gay conversation therapy.

Fabulous writing, great familiar characters and can’t wait for the next instalment.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The series stays strong. Kim is back after serious injuries. She allows a small bit more vulnerability with kim. The mystery goes into a conversion therapy storyline that is a bit hard to read.
Solid addition to the series
I was given a copy by Netgalley. opinions are my own.

This is another good addition to a superb series with a tough and fragile lead character. The story begins with a psychologically weak Kim returning to duty. Instead of talking about her trauma and making the plot slow, the author has deftly put her in a attack mode and in full swing. The detailed analysis of the conversion therapy and it’s horrific effects on the individual are dealt well. The series is still going strong and hats off to the author.

This is the 17th book starring the amazing DI Kim Stone.
Kim returns after the trauma of six graves and immediately sees cases that are not being investigated properly as they lack glory for the officer in charge. As she investigates her team try to support her and come back under her command.
A fantastic read and, as always, top of my TBR pile.

Another great addition to the Detective Kim Stone series.
Has there been a suicide? Or, a murder? Detective Kim Stone and her colleagues need to figure out what is going on when a missing person case gets thrown into the mix.
Another great addition to this fast paced, gripping crime thriller series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The title says it all with this latest addition to the DI Kim Stone series. Myriad meanings, all of them applicable. Kim returns to the office after a grievous injury-enforced sojourn away from work. Her team of experts are thrilled to have her back and she is chomping at the bit to get back to working cases with them. The loathsome DI Ian Burns has been heading the unit in her absence and has made a hash of everything he touched. Relegating Stacy Wood to making coffee and filing is wasteful and foolish, but taking a rash of suicides at face value is inexcusable. Fans of this series will enjoy sitting back and watching him being duly dispatched by Kim. She may still have some healing to do, but her caustic tongue is in fine working order.

The cases are disturbing, but handled with sensitivity. Penn has new challenges with his brother, Jason. Kim's dog, Barney, continues to help her stay on an even keel, more or less. Bryant is wonderful, and so is Stacy. These characters are so familiar to me now, I always enjoy my time with them. Next case, please, Angela Marsons!

Book 17 in this series already!

I’m a fan of Angela Marsons so was delighted to receive a copy of this latest instalment.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Kim and her team and book 17 didn’t disappoint. The usual good writing that kept me hooked from start to finish.

This book could be read as a stand-alone but I think you’d want to read more of them so if you haven’t already you should start from book 1. They are so fast paced it won’t take long to speed through them!

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. #HiddenScars #AngelaMarsons

A first for me with the Conversion therapy storyline, an eye opener that such places exist, and a great subject choice, along with a missing man, plus the ongoing underlying back story of Kim and her team. Busy book, but carry’s it well.

Note, it says you can read this as a stand-alone novel, personally I think you need to follow the whole series. Firstly, you can thank me later as it is brilliant writing again and again by Marsons and you would kick yourself if you missed out, secondly the degree of background story that unravels in the past ?? Novels adds to the incredible depth of the backstory to each book and gives clarity to why the main protagonist and the team in general react/ or do certain things.

Book 17 in the DI Kim Stone series, and Marsons gives no indication that she is done with this character and her team which of course is brilliant news!
Hidden Scars follows on from the explosive ending of book 16.

Another brilliant book from Angela Marsons and great that DI Kim Stone is recovering well from her ordeal there are quite a few murders to keep her on her toes which are made to look like suicides, as the investigation gets underway what they discover is horrendous and upsetting to think that people would treat the people that need help so badly with no compassion at all.

There are quite a few twists and I would never have guessed the ending it was excellent.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC

Wow, I can't believe we are at book 17 already!! Angie Marsons books are a "must read", every time I realise she has another book out. This one was terrific too.

Kim has returned to work, after the horrendous events of her last case. She doesn't feel like her usual self but she has to force herself to take action otherwise she will no longer have a team, and she loves her team.

When it turns out that the inept idiot who took her job whilst she was recuperating is doing a half-hearted job, at best, she has some catching up to do.

Soon, Kim realises that the suicide of Jamie Mills wasn't a suicide at all, and his murder case really sets the cats amongst the pigeons. She starts digging into a clinic which provides "conversion therapy" for people who are gay. Basically, cruel and nasty punishments are meted out in the name of "curing" someone of something which is innate. Sigh. Unfortunately, I know that conversion therapy is still a thing in some parts of the world, even my own, probably. There are always those people who think that being gay is something that someone just decided they wanted to be - there are easier ways to go through life!

Anyway, lots of interesting threads, some really heartbreaking descriptions of families who just didn't have hearts and organisations which made money from human misery.

5 stars from me.

Looking forward to the next book already!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Hidden Scars is the 17th book in the DI Kim Stone series. This is one of my favorite series! Even though you do not need to read all the previous books beforehand, you definitely need to read the 16th book before reading this one.

DI Kim Stone knows what she needs to say and how she needs to behave in order for her to go back to work, whether she's ready for it or not. Even though she is physically back, her team knows she is not emotionally back. But will her team still be there when she is ready?

What an emotional and tragic story. Once again, Angela Marsons has weaved a story that is so intense. A work of absolute class which will leave you shocked, angry, frustrated and devastated whilst keeping you totally and utterly thrilled.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for a copy of "Hidden Scars" in exchange of an honest review.

Following on from her last book, DI Kim Stone is recovering from being beaten almost to death by Symes. She' is due to return to work but she is traumatised by nightmares and an uncharacteristic loss of confidence in her abilities. Her first case back is the seemingly suicide of a young gay man. Not long afterwards another young gay person commits suicide. Kim and her team are unconvinced that these cases are as straightforward as they seem but they cannot find a connection until.....no spoilers here! A thoroughly enjoyable read! Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.

DI Kim Stone is back after recovering, to a degree, from her last ordeal. She is set to work quietly, as if. Her team has become demotivated under their temporary leader and she feels the tension. A suicide of a young man sets her off - she's not convinced - and, delving into his background, she finds an appalling story of bigotry, repression and injustice; being gay can be cured! Her team rallies round and they uncover the truth about the young man and several other deaths. Not for the fain-hearted but, sadly, such negative attitudes ring true. Well written and researched and I'm glad to see that Stone is back in business. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

WOW WOW WOW, I could not put this book down I was hooked from the first page, the subject matter certainly left me thinking and wondering if these things go on and I am sure they do.

Kim Stone is a character I think I will follow for a very long time, these books just keep getting better and better.
