The Deveraux family is an extraordinarily wealthy family that is very unique. The humor in this series is very clever, especially the way the cousins interact with their grandmother. Jackson Kane, who was just released from prison after serving a robbery sentence, learned that he was one of his grandmother's grandchildren. After his grandmother got him out, Jackson became the family's "fixer." He's responsible for making sure that the lives of his cousins, Evan, Katie, and Dominique, run smoothly. He doesn't think there's a "someone" for him, but when he meets Katie, he realizes that she's a model and a bartender, and she's always been broke.

Since her parents are deceased, she's trying to pay off her mother's debts and deal with her father's legal issues. Meeting Jackson was the only positive thing in her life until she learned that he was part of the Deveraux family. Will she eventually fall in love with the "despised" family, especially Jackson? The sparks fly when these two meet. This is a well-written story that features a compelling plot, family, friendships, humor, drama, and more. The characters are very interesting and relatable.

The fourth book in the series, which is about Jackson and Katie, is the culmination of their journey. Jackson is the family's "fixer," and he's responsible for making sure that the lives of his cousins, including his cousins, run smoothly. Katie, on the other hand, is a model and a bartender, and she's struggling financially due to her deceased parents' debts and her father's legal issues.

I'm sure I'd have enjoyed this book more if I'd read the previous installments in the series. I liked the read but didn't just fall in love with the characters or the stories. Jackson was intriguing but I guess I needed to have been involved in his backstory. His grandmother seemed very interesting. Now his cousins are doing well but their stories needed more for me than the bit of retelling an author can do in a subsequent novel. Katie's story was compelling. What a lot she's got to deal with. Her need for Jackson's skills is very real. He's just the man who can stand up to the Russians for her. He's also got the means to help fix the problems her father left but that's a hugely complicated situation with the two not realizing their shared connections.

I liked the way Katie just naturally won over every Devereaux she met. Her charisma and sweet nature were so obvious to others. She endears herself to her employers, her customers, her friends. She's strong enough to try to make right all the things her parents screwed up. That was admirable. Someone who is that ingratiating to others is highly unlikely to be able to keep a lover as just a friend with benefits but bless her heart, she tries so hard.

Jackson is one of those reluctant heroes. He's good to the core despite his rough childhood and prison time. He's cares deeply for those around him and will do about anything for them. He doesn't project this side in his normal daily business though. That's reserved for insiders. Despite telling himself and Katie she's just causal, she's soon one of those insiders he is compelled to help out.

The story had action and suspense as well as a hard earned happily ever after. All of which I did enjoy.

Thanks to the author, NetGalley and The Next Step PR for the ARC.

This is the 4th book in this series, and this is Jackson and Katie’s journey. Jackson is the “fixer” in the family, and is the go between for his cousins, and to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Katie is a bartender / model, who struggles financially as she is paying off her deceased mothers’ debts, as well as dealing with her father’s legal matters. When these two meet the sparks fly. This is a well written story with an engaging in-depth plot, family, friendships, drama, intrigue, emotions, truths, humor, and witty banter, which leads to a compelling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

One of the most amusing series that I have ever read about an enormously wealthy family who are quite unique, but in an endearing manner. The sarcastic, but “affectionate” dialog between the cousins and their grandmother is amazingly witty. Jackson Kane, now Deveraux was in prison (just for armed robbery, not murder) when his grandmother, Senator Eleanor Deveraux learned that he was one of her grandchildren. So, she got him out and he is now the family “fixer”. He is the go between for his cousins Dominique, Evan and Aiden, making sure that their lives run smoothly. He doesn’t believe that there is a “someone” for him, but that is before he meets Katie St. Cloud. Katie works as a bartender and a “fit” model and even with two jobs, she is always broke. Since both of her parents are deceased, she is paying off her mother’s debts and dealing with her father’s legal issues. Meeting Jackson was the only good thing in her life, well until she realized he was part of the despised Deveraux family. Will she eventually come to love the “despised” Deveraux’s, especially him? I don't have all the right words to express how I feel about this story. To know the Deveraux family is to love them. Each story in this series builds on the previous and adds to the next. A wry, witty family drama with quirky characters with natural synergy between the cousins.

This is a very in depth, detailed storyline with razor sharp dialogue and kicks of humor. It's not always an easy breezy read, I needed to pay attention. But it's a family affair at its heart, with a romance thrown in.

I've been looking forward to Jackson's story and finding out who his love interest would be. He lucked out with Caitlin. I really enjoy the author's heroines and her female characters in general. They are perfection. This is set in the world of politics, with cliched political party drama, but if you don't take that all too seriously, the series is a riot. Start from the top and enjoy the ride with the Deveraux family.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and I am leaving a review voluntarily. Opinions are my own.

Oh my, this is a first time author for me and it was the Blurb that intrigued me and I'm so glad I got to read this story. It is exciting and I loved the characters, Jackson and his Deveraux cousins and the lady who caught his attention Katie. Great banter and fantastic writing, going to have to get the previous stories now.

LOVED THIS BOOK!
Filled with action, family, second chances, and of course, romance.
I love the characters and the unique, if a bit odd, family make up. The plot flows seamlessly from scene to scene and kept me turning the page. Highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This novel is filled with action and thrills. There is a lot of detail that went into the characters background to make their relationships more complex, which I liked. It kept me guessing. The pacing of the novel is also perfect for the plot line! Maines does a great job pulling the reader in! If you like action, adventure, and romance this novel is for you!
