From the start of this series, I have been waiting for Dom and Willa's second chance romance. A Rogue's Rules for Seduction can be read as a standalone, but I think it would be best enjoyed in order to truly ramp up the pining and longing between these two.

Overall, I'm really satisfied with Dom and Willa's story, but I did feel that the tension and drama were dragged out for too long. This made the pacing really slow in the middle and the book feel overly long. I appreciated that both characters grew and matured in their time apart and that they recognized that their marriage would not have survived had they gone through with the wedding without those changes. It's a slow burn build up to the spicy scenes, but wow were they scorching. Eva Leigh definitely made up for lost time and the last quarter or so of the book almost melted my kindle. I enjoyed the scenes, but they did seem a bit "advanced" for Willa's first sexual explorations and I would have preferred a few less mentions of Dom's previous experiences. The epilogue wrapped up the series wonderfully though and I loved seeing all the previous couples enjoying their HEA's.

Tropes: second chance, forced proximity, slow burn, dom/sub, praise kink, pining, best friend's sibling, sexual instruction, I hate everyone but you

CW: poverty/financial insecurity (past), corporal punishment/withholding of food at boarding school (past), grief, fighting/possible manslaughter (past), bullying (past)

*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Absolutely adored this one. Loved the slow burn and the tension. The emotional development was extremely satisfying. I rooted for Dom and Willa to be together, they had excellent chemistry. The spice was well done and worth the wait.

This is book three in the Last Chance Scoundrels series. I love the 3 different series I’ve read so far.

Dominic Kilburn grew up poor until his father made a fortune, thereby allowing his sister to marry into a better class and allowing Dom to go to school with kids of the peerage. His 2 best friends are Finn and Kieran Ransome, brothers of Willa Ransome. He thought he met the love of his life in Willa and their marriage was set. Dom left her at the altar aided by Finn and Kieran. That part gutted me thinking about if that happened to me and my brothers helped my fiancé leave instead of standing up for me as their sister. No wonder Willa ran to the continent so fast.

The story is told from both main characters’ viewpoint. I also had sympathy for Dom after learning more about his upbringing, but of course I empathized more with Willa knowing how society would look at her as scandalous.

A year after the incident, Willa’s brothers make an attempt to get Dom and Willa together at a friend’s hedonistic party in the wilds of Scotland that is only reachable by boat. Both Willa and Dom are shocked to see each other. Let the flying statuettes begin! They both have quite a bit to learn and own up to about themselves. The book’s energy is constant and was one I couldn’t put down.

I received a free copy of the book in advance and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wealthy tradesman Dominic is running from a dark past. That's why he left Lady Willa at the altar. Hurt and humiliated, she's spent the past year rebuilding her life. When she and Dom are reunited at a house party, will they find their way back to each other?

This is a steamy, emotional, heart-wrenching Regency romance with BDSM elements. Dom and Willa want nothing to do with each other at first. But with each encounter, the passion and friendship between them grows. Ultimately, they realize true love requires more from them than they were willing to give in the past. They have to grow if they want to be worthy of each other.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

The entire series was leading to this book! It's the final book in the Last Chance Scoundrel's series and the one I was looking forward to the most (which is saying a lot because second chance romance is not a favorite of mine.)

In the first of the series, Dominic left Willa at the alter. Willa spent the last year traveling abroad hoping to mend her heartbreak. She attends a house party on a remote island and finds herself in forced proximity with Dom. They need to find a way to either get over each other and move on or reconcile. Meddling family and friends throw them together at every opportunity and I was here for it. We've gotten to see Dom throughout the other books and I couldn't wait to see him grovel. Their relationship was so much fun, snarky and 1000% steamy. I loved EVERY SECOND of it. This just might be my favorite Eva Leigh book.

Read this if you love: house parties. second chance, Grecian reenactments, 69ing, groveling, meddling family/friends, cottages in the rain, being called a good girl, thick thighs, and brother's best friend books.

Thank you to Eva Leigh, NetGalley, and Avon Harper Voyager for this eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I don’t usually second chance but this made me realize that’s because often the reason for the break up is held back as a plot point. I knew this one clearly going in and that made it easier to root for them. And root for them I did. Gosh I loved them both. I loved how they reflected on their mistakes from their first courtship, and how little they hid their attraction to one another. It was an interesting push-and-pull and kept me turning pages. This is definitely one of the spiciest histroms I’ve ever read and I loved that. The ending almost lost me in its rush to tie everything up with a pretty bow but this book is still amazing and a great end to the series

I enjoyed this one, and it is probably my favorite of the series! The beginning was somewhat boring to me, but once we got more Willa and Dom interactions, I got really invested! I think the steam factor of this one sets it apart from other regency and historical romances. Fans of second chance romance will love this one. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and Eva Leigh for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

I want to give this novel all the stars! ALL of them! If there is anyone with some spare stars from their latest reviews send them my way because Eva Leigh has done it yet again. In her hands the second chance trope is my absolute favourite. (Which is saying a LOT!)

Eva Leigh's Last Chance Scoundrels series is without a doubt a fantastic series from start to finish. I was so excited to get to brooding Dom and the mysterious Willa's story and the novel was beyond my expectations. I love a good set up and in the hands of some of my favourite characters Willa's brothers, Kieran and Finn, just brought an added layer to the novel! Who I must add are book boyfriends of mine - yes both of them! AND now after reading Dom's story he has definitely joined their ranks!

But I digress, the set up was perfection, forced proximity at its finest. Because how are you to escape from someone on an island when the next boat can be weeks away? Add in a house party hosted by a notorious libertine, whose own possible love story we caught glimpses of that just made my heart even more happy. Eva Leigh's writing always comprises these moments of wit and gaiety juxtaposed against moments of undeniable tenderness and strength, where the characters are allowed to be their true selves. From chess matches, role reversed evening entertainment and sultry theatrical performances where the house guests can get the opportunity to play out their hidden desires on stage, I found myself completely entranced with the story. It was joyous to witness an atmosphere created that allowed Dom and Willa to truly see each other and to gain further insights into what had happened to lead them there.

Oh and I will mention that I was a little worried with the slow burn we were experiencing within the novel especially when not not much had happened by the 70% mark. Very Austen-like, which I will also note I loved the tiny nods to the author from the mention of Pride and Prejudice to Persuasion to a Mansfield Park type theatrical (which Eva made all the better with Longbridge!) But when we got to the steam, Eva Leigh sets us ablaze within the walls of a cabin where there is nothing else to do while a storm rages but have Dom and Willa keep each other warm and exercise some passionate demons of their own. Hands down those chapters will live on forever in my brain.

I loved Dom and Willa's story. Loved how the other couples were central in bringing them together in a way that showed just how much they cared for their friends and brought something even more special to the story. Seeing them all together just makes me want to reread the entire series ASAP.

I can’t believe this series is over. I can’t believe this book is over. I can’t believe how smutty this book was 😏🔥🥵
If I’m being completely honest I wasn’t super excited about Dom’s story. I don’t think I ever forgave him for leaving Willa at the alter like that. I was so upset and angry for her. But then I got the whole delicious story and this may have been my favorite book of the three.
Each book just got better and better. This one was all of the best parts of an HR and the best parts of a CR put together without the dreaded 3rd act breakup!
If you read the other two books you know that Dom and Willa were supposed to get married but Kieran and Finn (Willa’s brothers and Dom’s besties) helped him escape on their wedding day leaving Willa jilted. This sets off an ultimatum by their parents saying all three men must marry within the year or they will be financially cut off.
Anyway, in this last book after almost a year since their almost wedding, Willa and Dom come face to face in an unexpected location. Let’s just say this reunion did not go well at first. But there’s nothing like a secluded island to force people to get to the root of their issues.

I was very excited to finally read Dom and Willa's story!

Knowing that they had a sweeping love that he sacrificed because he felt unworthy of her, really built their love up in my mind before reading. Dom and Willa are stuck an an isolated house party, thrown together by the machinations of their friends and family. While they are determined to avoid one another, they can't help being drawn to each other.

One thing I really liked about this story was how their perceptions of each other were challenged and changed. They both were using each other to get further in life or to "stick it" to proper society. As the house party progresses, they realize that they were wrong about each other. They are real people, with hurts and desires that were previously unknown.

One thing I didn't like was Willa's stubborn refusal to get back with Dom. Yes, he hurt her previously. But throughout this book, he proves over and over again that he's changed. And that was one aspect of her personality that I found incredibly tiring. But overall, a good second chance romance.

Tropes: second chance, forced proximity

I loved love this book, the third of the series, and while they were all good, this was my favorite. I loved the leads and the returns of the previous couples. And it was excellently steamy! Eva Leigh is so good.

Holy hell, Batman! This one has some spice! 👏👏👏👏
I loved the third book in the Last Chance Scoundrels series, Dom and Willa’s story. Jilted and left at the altar in Book 1, this is a second-chance for these two stubborn and strong-willed lovelies to get it right. Ever since the marriage-that-never-was, Willa had been away on the continent fleeing as far away as she could get from Dom and her embarrassment. But now she’s back, and unbeknownst to her and Dom, both of them are tricked into staying on an island in Scotland at the home of the infamous Mr. Longbridge who throws wild parties behind the peering eyes of the ton. Finally forced to interact with one another, there’s only so much time that can slip by before Dom and Willa must confront their history as well as their insatiable yearning for each other.

This book brought together all of the characters from the previous Last Chance Scoundrels (the Ransome brothers, Tabitha, and Celeste) and exceeded every expectation I had for Dominic and Willa. Just imagine a larger than life brooding man that looks like Gaston (a la Beauty and the Beast), with all of the swagger and macho-ness, but none of the small-mindedness. [Side note: that’s one thing the cover misses—we are told Dom is HUGE—in every sense of the word.] Dom wants no one but Willa, even though he feels like he isn’t good enough for her. He’ll throw men over his shoulder to keep everyone else away from her and would fight anyone who has an unkind word to say to her. Willa doesn’t let Dom in too easily considering their past. But it’s clear she is conflicted by her attraction to him regardless of what her mind tells her to think. Willa and Dom are two sides of the same coin and forced proximity as well as small manipulations by some of the island’s guests encourage their time together.

Their chemistry is excellent! Part of it is that they are still wildly attracted to one another despite everything and the other is that they just implicitly trust one another, letting their fantasies run free. Any man who will bloody his knees to bring a woman pleasure is a hero in my book. Dom encourages Willa’s sexual curiosity: there’s rope play, blindfolds, light BDSM—basically they are each other’s sexual playground. There is a moment (spoiler free) where Dom becomes overcome with the tension and Caveman Style™️ carries Willa off to have his way with her. Seriously HOT! They are just feral for each other. It makes sense that at 65% of the book, they still were holding each other at arms length given how they perceived each other, but once they get over that hump (pun intended), the floodgates have opened. Eva Leigh can write a scene and I loved seeing such openness in a historical romance. Although Finn and Tabitha will remain my favorite match from the series, Dom and Willa are undeniably fated mates that end the series with a bang. This series has made me want to go back and read Eva Leigh’s backlog and I am thrilled to have found a new favorite author. Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This series has been a master class in writing romance. Each book tackles a different trope with Leigh's straightforward, sexy prose, and pulls each one off with perfect execution. Which leads us to A Rogue's Rules for Seduction: the dreaded Second-Chance Romance.

We get it, it's not dreaded for everyone, but it's just not our favorite trope. Basically, we hold grudges, and if we broke up with you (or got broken up with by you) we're never going back to that well. But - BUT! - when Dom and Willa are thrown back together, the stars aligned and we were completely convinced. You see, in the first book of the series, Dom literally leaves Willa at the altar. We've come to understand over the course of the series that Dom didn't leave her because he didn't love her. Instead, he felt that he wasn't worthy of her. And in this book, we finally get a little bit more of Willa's perspective.

It turns out that both of them loved the idea of the other person instead of the person themself. And now that the veneer of civility has been stripped away, they can both reveal their innermost feelings. Now, they can start to love each other for who they really are. Were we totally convinced by the instigating event that made Dom leave the woman he loved on their wedding day? Not 100%. But that is the only criticism we have of this otherwise-perfect book.

And as a final note: We were HYPED by other reviews and Eva Leigh herself that Dom both grovels and gets down on his knees in other ways for Willa. When we were about 70% of the way through with nothing more than a kiss and an aborted dry hump, we were starting to get a little worried. Oh, we of little faith! Turns out there's a sex cabin, a storm, and about 48 straight hours of way-more-than-dry-hump awaiting us. Let's just say that Dom lives up to his name.

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.

A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction is book three in Eva Leigh’s Last Chance Scoundrels series and it was everything that I wanted for Dom and Willa- Incredible pining, intense feelings, super steamy and so much character growth. This was my favorite book of the series, Eva Leigh understood the assignment in creating Dom and his thighs.

Back in book one, Dom left Willa at the alter for stupid man reasons causing her to spend time traveling while he drank and fought to forget her. Now their meddling siblings have brought them to a house party where they are basically stranded on a Scottish island and forced to confront their feelings.

This book was everything I want in a second chance romance! I love that they both had to grow up- Dom has to see Willa not as a “princess” and she has to see Dom not just for his brutish exterior. The pining between these two is perfect. They are so drawn to each other and even though rehashing their failed engagement is painful, they learn so much about each other. Don’s self loathing “I am beneath her” is the big dumb lug material I crave.

The steam in this was on point. Eva Leigh seriously outdid herself with this one - praise kink, bondage, blindfolds, riding crops, self pleasure - OH MY! Him submitting to her, wanting her marks just made me love Dom even more.

A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction is the perfect end to this trilogy. Dom and Willa get their HEA and we get to catch up with the other couples too, I loved this book!

“You’re my dream and my salvation and my torment. I want to claim you all for myself, and kill anyone who would touch you, but there’s blood on my hands and shame in my heart, and my penance is living without you.”

Thank you to the publisher (Avon) and NetGalley for an E-ARC. I voluntarily reviewed this book and all thoughts are my own. A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction has a publish date of April 25, 2023.

I think I may have to admit that I occasionally struggle with second chance romances that hinge on a misunderstanding and this one hits those marks in spades. The first half of the book was a real struggle because I don't love my romances to start with two people who have difficulty being in the same room together and Dom and Willa have been separated for a year since he left her at the altar when they next meet.

I did enjoy that the two of them realized that neither of them fully knew the other when they got engaged. They each had a vision of who the other was without really knowing the person beneath that and that caused a lot of issues down the line for the two of them. But the reason that Dom called off the wedding to me never felt... big enough considering his feelings for Willa. Maybe if the secret had been a bigger factor in this book that would have made a difference for me but to me, it felt kind of tacked on and Willa's reaction is so minuscule that it really feels like it just sort of exists there.

After Dominic Kilburn jilted Lady Willa Ransom at the altar a year ago, they both end up at a house party on a remote Scottish island with no way to leave until the supply boat returns in three weeks. Willa is determined to punish Dom for his actions by any means possible, even if it means berating him or totally ignoring him while at the party. Dom hates himself for hurting Willa, and he's apologized numerous times, but she won't accept it. Can these two fractured souls ever learn to forgive and relish in a love that knows no bounds?

I've been waiting for this book, and it was well worth it. I loved Willa. She was such a strong character storming her way through life like a bull in a china shop and relishing shocking the ton with her antics, but no one really sees the "real" Willa, no one except Dom. It's a heady revelation for her, especially when she finally slows down long enough to listen to what he has to say. Dom is the perfect tortured hero, and he loathes himself for the hurt he caused Willa by leaving her. Due to a fierce storm, the two end up in a remote cabin together. It's where many truths come to light, and their path to HEA is a bit rocky, but they get there on their own terms. FYI, readers should be warned that there are very graphic sex and bondage scenes in the book.

After the last book in this series, I was so excited to get to Willa and Dom's story! Their wedding ends before it begins very dramatically with Dom leaving Willa heartbroken and embarrassed at the altar. What better setup for a second chance is there?

Now, they're stranded at a house party together where they cannot ignore each other or their feelings for each other. Willa is understandably upset, Dom is ashamed that he'd hurt her. Luckily, they have some outside forces that help pull them together. It's angsty without being too angsty.

My favorite lead-up part was the living tableau where they cannot stop lusting after each other in front of everyone, thus something has to be done! It really is a series of banging from there, and I'm completely here for it.

Dom does come clean to Willa about his past and his hang-ups going into their original wedding. Willa is graceful and understanding with him. I'm really happy with the conclusion of their story.

I feel like this was two separate books. The first half was kind of boring, the second have was extremely spicy and fun!

Dom jilted Willa a year ago and now they're stuck at a house party together. They rekindle their love and while I love a second-chance romance, this fell flat. Dom and Willa both reevaluate the way they view each other, but this comes all on its own, or by conversations with side characters. I really craved them actually having more experience with each other one on one where they could reconcile and hash out what went wrong.

Dom was like Phoebe from Magic School Bus, always bringing up his times working on the docks. Come on! There has to be something else about his personality.

When they finally got together it was very hot. Leigh knows how to write a sex scene! I definitely want to read more from her. I feel like most HR authors I like have a book or two (usually quite late in the series) that is wildly mispaced. This might be Leigh's.
