This is book Nine of the Mimi Goldman Chautauqua Mysteries. I read the premise and thought that it was interesting. Now I have to go back and read the series from the beginning. Mimi is a well written character, and she is entertaining. A strong-willed character full of moxie and wit. She is a great character, and this story reads like a cozy mystery. Which can be enjoyed on a cold day with a cup of hot cocoa.

Wicked Schemes is the ninth book in Deb Pines' traditional whodunit Chautauqua Mysteries featuring the wise and witty reporter/grandma sleuth Mimi Goldman. Thrilling and utterly compulsive! An incredible read, impossible to put down.

A very American cozy crime. Full of quite annoying characters and an absolute Agatha Christie pastiche. I finished it though, so it wasn't all bad!

Bodies Pile…
The ninth in the Chautauqua Murder Mystery series and a Christie-esque offering with a murder being literally announced. Who could refuse that? The announcement on the local message board has the town intrigued and abuzz with excitement - but, on attending, the party rapidly becomes less than book related when a real murder does in fact take place. It’s not long before local busybody and reporter, Mimi Goldman, and her nonagenarian sidekick Sylvia, take centre stage. As bodies pile and suspects mount can these intrepid sleuths solve the crimes in true Miss Marple style? Deftly drawn characters populate a fun and frothy plot with some rather nicely done plotting. Enjoyable and entertaining.

This is a great homage to Christie, told in a modern way, the book is clever and humorous in places and definitely recommended for people who love fresh takes on older material.

A group of characters who are friends are trying to solve a mystery…they are quirky and fun. They come alive on the pages of this book. Red herrings make it difficult to solve this crime. The author has written a cannot put down murder mystery that is suspenseful at best. A young man shows up at a party to rob those attending. He is murdered. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the book.
