A wonderful ping lost love story between Wyatt and Sam - the story really pulled me in and was a quick and easy read! There was some alternating time chapters and perspective from each of them through the story. In addition to the love story appreciated Sams desire to find herself and her roots. Everyone needs to read when this book comes out for a lighthearted warm read!

I am utter trash for these reunion/second chance romances! In all honestly, this leaned more women's fiction for me since all the present days chapters were told from Sam's point of view, and she was working through a lot of personal stuff. The stress of her pending nuptials, her career crumbling, and returning to the scene of her biggest heartbreak was a lot to deal with all at once. However, being back at the beach breathe life back into this woman who had been hiding pieces of herself in the name of self preservation.
I loved the flashbacks and getting to see Sam and Wyatt's love story play out. I was curious as to how it all fell apart. I will admit, I was a bit disappointed in what happened there. If you read this book, you will understand why it frustrated me, but I could feel the love floating all around Sam and Wyatt when they were once again back at the beach. To be apart for that long and fall back into a friendship that easily shows how strong their bond really was. Obviously this situation was complicated, but the author managed to get me onboard, and I was really pleased with how things worked out for everyone involved.
The focus of this story was love and forgiveness, but there were great threads about being true to yourself and finding your passion. Needless to say, I had a spectacular summer at the beach!

Thanks NetGalley for the early copy of this book. Last year’s Nora Goes Off Script was one of my favorite lighter reads. For this first third of this I wasn’t sure it would live up to the first, but this book turned out to be a delight. I especially enjoyed how I felt I was actually at the bed while reading and it really nailed that feeling of being young and never wanting summer to end.

This book was like a warm summer hug!
I absolutely adored this book and will immediately need to read all the other books by Annabel Monaghan! It had everything I loved in a book; small town romance, dual POV, second chance and more!
The writing was done exceptionally well and I absolutely loved the flashes between the past and present!
This is definitely a book I will be purchasing on release day and taking with me to read by the beach!

Annabel Monaghan does it AGAIN! SOOO GOOD. This has everything! Releasing June 6th
✔️small town romance
✔️second chance romance
✔️dual POV
✔️teenage first loves
✔️ friends to lovers
Samantha and Wyatt’s parents own beach houses on Long Island next door. Since they can remember they’ve spent each summer together at the beach. Their friendship turns into something more right yon the precipice of both their families’ world turning upside down. Their young relationship is not able to withstand the shock of it all and dissolves abruptly.
Flash forward about 13 year later and Samantha is getting ready to marry Jack, a strait laced dermatologist, from New York. Samantha and Jack travel back to Samantha’s family beach house to entertain throwing their wedding in the idyllic town when Samantha runs into Wyatt who is staying the week next door in his old family house. 🫶🏻
I loved the “then” and “now” flashbacks! It’s always such a treat to start a story and then travel back in time to really understand the characters and their relationships to one another. Also I’m a sucker for a small town romance and I loved how the story transported out of the city to the perfect beach town. The description made you feel the salt air, the sand under your feet and the crashing waves.
I’m convinced that Annabel has nailed the formula to write the perfect romance and she will be an auto buy author for me in the future.
Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This book feels like summer and is a perfect beach read. It checks all those summer romance boxes - first love, second chance romance, summer loves, and a sleepy beach town. It is my second Abigail Monaghan book in as many months, and I don’t know what I’ll do without a new one in June. Monaghan has a fantastic way of delivering a book that is both a light-hearted romance and a deeper conversation about what it means to live the life you want to live (As she did with Nora Goes Off Script).
Sam was raised as the daughter of a quirky artist family that splits their time between NYC during the school year and a small beach town in the summers. During these magical summers, Sam is curious and artistic, plotting a future of creative adventure. She falls in love with Wyatt, her childhood friend next door. Their teenage romance forges a powerful bond that both believe will last a lifetime until events outside their control rip their families apart and put them on divergent paths. Years later, when their lives again intersect at the beach, Sam must analyze how much of her life in the present is a reaction to her past and decide who she wants to be moving forward.
This closed-door romance is a dual POV, dual timeline, first love, second chance, small-town charmer. In the days since I finished reading it, not only have I continued to think about the characters, but I’ve also been thinking about who I thought I’d be when I was a teenager, how I’ve evolved, and what parts of my past self I wish I could bring forward into who I am today.
Many thanks to Net Galley, Putnam Books, and Annabel Monaghan for the opportunity to read this novel in advance of its 6/6/2023 release in exchange for my honest review.

“Breaking out of a life that’s not working is a lot of work.”
I have all the feels about this book! The characters, the second chance love story, watching Sam choose the life she deserves & not the life she thinks she wants…perfection!
Overall, the book gave me It Ends With Us & Sweet Home Alabama vibes in the sense that there is an old flame the main character clearly hasn’t gotten over. When Sam returns to her home with a “perfect” fiancé & a put together resume, she thinks she has it all. But a few weeks at the beach with her family & first love show her she had a long way to go. Sam cares too much about how others perceive her, which is a struggle we all go through. I loved seeing her rediscover what really makes her happy!
In some of my hardest times in life, I did exactly what Sam does. She bargains with God, saying “If I do this, then things will be better.” She is so relatable in her vulnerability.
There is also representation of dyslexia in this book, which I love. Having several students with dyslexia, I appreciate it when authors write characters into their stories who share similar struggles with reading. Wyatt talks about these hardships and even attends a special school to help him overcome, & despite the struggle, he is arguable the most successful character in the book! Wyatt grew up to be a songwriter in LA who is now giving back to his hometown.
Annabel Monaghan also knows how to write the perfect ending! Both Nora Goes Off Script and Same Time Next Summer have incredibly satisfying endings that were wrapped in neat bows. I loved it!
Run, don’t walk, to your bookstore on June 6th to grab a copy of Same Time Next Summer!
Thank you @netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Perfect summer read. The atmosphere was fantastic, the story was fresh and fun! I liked this better than Nora Goes Off Script and will definitely recommend to friends.

Samantha (Sam) grew up spending the summer at the beach in Long Island with her family. Next door were the Popes with Wyatt who was a year older. They spent all of their time together in the summer and talked on the phone the other 9 months of the year. Wyatt wanted to move to LA and start his singing career. Sam wanted to be where Wyatt was. Then their last summer together, everything changed and Sam was left behind to pick up the pieces. It’s now a decade later and Sam is back at the beach with her fiancé Jack and trying to be ok with seeing Wyatt again after all these years.
This was a sweet summer romance and would be a good read for those who enjoyed Every Summer After. You’re rooting for Sam to find herself whether that includes Jack, Wyatt or neither. I wish we had gotten to know Wyatt a little better, but can also understand maybe why we didn’t right away. Great summer read to add to the TBR.

Wow. This book was so beautiful. I’m a sucker for a second chance romance and this one did not disappoint.
Childhood lovers finding each other again later in life.
Sam + Wyatt had the most beautiful love story, that ended due to the stupidity of just being a teenager and not knowing how to talk through feelings or properly communicate.
What a surprise that all this time, Wyatt was communicating with her through music that she didn’t know he had written.
I was rooting so hard for them from the beginning and when they finally connected again, even just watching them straddle the line of being friends again, it was so beautiful.
Oh and just for good measure - f$$k Jack.
Thank you G.P. Putnams Sons for the ARC through netgalley.

A classic beach read! A tad confusing during the alternating time periods but a fun read. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for review

Spice: 🌶️
I absolutely loved this book. It was a sweet, nostalgic, cozy, beachy, and tender hearted read.
The first part of the story is told in Dual time lines following Sam’s current life and engagement to strait-laced Jack and her past childhood golden days and first love with Wyatt.
Sam was such a lovable character with a quirky and sweet family, and an inner dialogue that made me lol often.
The interactions between Wyatt and Sam are so lovely- They called to mind my deepest & most authentic relationships.
My favorite part of this story is Sam’s journey to her most authentic self. We all have moments where we have to chose between what feels safest and what feels most honest, I loved watching Sam figure this out for herself.
This is a must read ❤️☀️👙🌊🏖️🐚

Do you need a Summer Read that will keep you entertained for hours?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sam is engaged to be married and brings her fiancé, Jack, to her family’s summer home on Long Island for the first time. When her high school boyfriend, Wyatt, who crushed her heart reappears, will this bring back feelings she can not deny? After all, they had spent every summer together growing up! When the wedding planning comes down to all the important decisions, Jack doesn’t have time to help make those. This makes Sam reexamine her relationship with Jack. Is this the person she is meant to be with? Is it too late to call off the wedding?
A fast-paced Rom-Com that will have you turning the pages to find out what Sam ultimately decides! Is she able to create a life that makes her happy? A fun, entertaining, and refreshing read that leaves you feeling satisfied in the end! A great book to take on vacation or to read by the pool!
Thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Putnam (G.P. Putnam's Sons) , I was provided an ARC of Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’m always amazed by how INTELLIGENT Annabel Monaghan’s writing is. Her books always offer a brilliant commentary on both life and love and always always ALWAYS make me feel something.
This story, was full of heartbreak and longing, losing and finding yourself, self discovery and actualization, and first and forever love. I continually wax poetic about how much I love when a romance story features MCs who truly see each other and are simply “better together” and Sam and Wyatt were absolutely the personification of that. It was interesting yet infuriating to watch Sam trying to make herself fit a mold she thought she needed to fit into, but I LOVED that Wyatt was the one to help her see herself how he sees her!
Once again this was a truly spectacular story from Annabel Monaghan, and I look forward to many many more!
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and Penguin Group-Putnam. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved Nora Goes Off Script so I was so excited to read Same Time Next Summer...and I was NOT disappointed. I love the author's writing style...Going between 3rd person for the past narrative and first person voice for the current characters is a great stylistic choice and kept the story well paced and easy to read. Present-Past narratives are very common now, but this choice kept this story fresh and interesting.
As far as the plot, this book is full of sunshine...wonderful complex characters, quaint beach setting, quirky family and a sweet love story that proves sometimes you just got to let go and take a chance, even if it means you might get hurt. Perfect beach read for summer!
Thanks #NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC.

I am currently unable to leave a review on Amazon, but here is my review from Goodreads:
What can I say? I had high hopes after loving "Nora goes off Script" last year and Annabel Monaghan did not disappoint!
"Same Time Next Summer" is a lovely story about first love, broken hearts and finding yourself. Engaged to Jack, Sam is returning to the beach where she spent her childhood summers and found her first love in Wyatt.
Spoilers ahead...
I am always a little hesitant when a character is in a committed relationship but clearly still in love with someone else. I think Monaghan did a wonderful job navigating Sam's feelings for Jack and Wyatt and the resolution of both relationships felt earned.
Sam's family was wonderful, supportive and loving. I loved the conversations she had with her mother and grandmother. I'm still a little upset with her father, though. While there was some discussion about Sam's strained relationship with her father, I think I would have liked a little more time spent on their relationship and how they would work to repair it.
All in all, it was a wonderful read - perfect for the beach while enjoying some warm weather. Hopefully it will bring back fond memories of your own first love!

Present day, Sam returns to her family’s beach house with her fiancé, Jack. Her life is finally headed where she thinks it should be. But as soon as she discovers her first love has also returned for the weekend, she begins to question everything.
I rooted for Wyatt the whole time. Jack was so very unlikeable, so that was easy. Without giving any spoilers, I did find a couple of the plot points unbelievable. Overall, I enjoyed this book and think it’s a great, quick beach read for this summer!
Perfect for fans of Every Summer After.

Absolutely adorable. What I love about Monaghan's romcoms is that they are exceptionally well-written with sparking dialogue and real, relatable characters. A great follow up to one of my all time favorites -- Nora Goes Off Script.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. "Same Time Next Summer" is a delightful summer read. The protagonist is flawed, but likeable, and the cast of characters surrounding her are vibrant and have their own plot lines. If anything, I wish the book were a few chapters longer to flesh out the current relationship with Sam and Wyatt, but that's just because the writing was so well done that I wanted to read more of it. There's just enough lyricism to make the novel feel elevated from a standard romance novel, but it still has "beach read" vibes. I loved this book and look forward to reading this author's future (and past) works.

This was the book I needed, the one that broke me out of a slump. Fans of Nora Goes off Script need to be ready to forget the real world and get lost in Same Time Next Summer. This will make a perfect summer beach read! I finished in less than 24 hours and loved everything about Sam and Wyatt. Sam's family rounds out a fantastic cast of characters who make you want to pull up a chair and join them for dinner. Not one character is perfect and made them more likable and pulled you to them even more. Fans of summer love, childhood love, second chance romance should add Same Time Next Summer to their TBR and be ready when it comes out June 6th!
