The fourth book in the Spikes & Spurs series, a well written story that held my interest. Hunky cowboy Ace Riley and his best friend Jasmine King get married in Vegas to save his reputation, it was supposed to be kept secret. I enjoyed seeing these two with all the ups and downs they went through get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Typically I’m a huge fan of Carolyn Brown’s and this story has a lot of facets- cute characters and a great setting that draws readers in. There were a few things though that took me out of the story multiple times. Often, the perspective of the story changed from Ace and Jasmine within the same chapter which made me have to continuously look back and make sure I knew who was doing the speaking/thinking. Also, it felt long- the premise of Jasmine marrying Ace to let him keep the ranch was addressed at the very beginning, which was an interesting start, but then the story just kind of plodded along. Finally, the author tried to authentically reflect the Texas twang, which I appreciated but then it started to get a little tedious as often i found the grammar to be odd. As the story progressed, more and more characters were introduced. And it started to become confusing as well. This could have been my fault tho as I didn’t read the prior books in the series. Regardless, a sweet read and thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an early read.

« One Hot Cowboy Wedding » by Carolyn Brown has a predictable ending. If you like Western romances, give this title a try.

One Hot Cowboy Wedding, by Carolyn Brown, addresses the age old question of what are good friends for? In the case of Ace Riley and Jasmine King, friendship serves to protect the legacy ranch Ace has inherited from his dear grandfather. When an over zealous young attorney taking over for his grandfather’s account and a greedy cousin inform Ace that unless he is married by the two year anniversary of his grandfather’s death, his ne’er do well cousin Cole, who intends to sell off the property, will gain the inheritance, Ace feels doomed.

When Ace vents to his good friend and owner of the Chicken Fried Cafe, Jasmine King, her immediate solution is for them to elope. After all, she has no plans for a relationship so getting married and staying together for a year to thwart Cole’s plans and keep the ranch for Ace seems a no brainer. So the two sneak off separately to Las Vegas for a quickie wedding that they plan to keep to themselves. However, when they are the 5000th couple to be married at the chapel, the celebration for them makes national news and their friends await them at her cafe when they return home and they are receiving calls from their parents seeking an explanation.

This is a lovely friends to lovers tale told with humor and heart. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Jasmine and Ace decide to get married in Las Vegas so that Ace can keep the farm. At the chapel they find out they are a winner and their story is their for everyone to see. Their families and friends are surprised. I liked the chemistry between Jasmine and Ace.

Very good book. I love this series with its hot cowboys and spunky women. Ace discovered that, due to an unknown clause in his grandfather's will, he had to be married within two weeks or lose his ranch to an unpleasant cousin. He's had no intention of settling down and hasn't been dating anyone he'd be willing to marry. Then his best friend Jasmine offers to marry him. They plan to marry quietly and continue their lives as before. Then their wedding ends up on the news, and everyone in town knows about it. Thanks to their first kiss at the wedding chapel, they no longer think of each other as just friends.

The sparks between them are intense, and they don't quite know what to do about it. They had intended to stay married for a year, then divorce and remain friends. Now all they can think about is the next time they can give in to their passion. Jasmine's mother is ticked that Jasmine didn't have a "real" wedding and is planning a blowout neither of them wants, and Jasmine can't tell her no. Suddenly her folks are talking about buying Jasmine's cafe and running it themselves so she can have babies. Ace and Jasmine are confused and trying to figure out what happened to their plan.

I loved how Ace and Jasmine were friends for a long time before they fell in love. This made the initial decision very easy for them but threw them for a loop when they suddenly discovered that friendship wasn't enough anymore. I loved their mental conversations, trying to talk themselves out of doing what they wanted to do. I loved the other characters in the story, some from previous books and some new. Jasmine's mother was a steamroller, and I loved the scenes with her and Jasmine, especially when Jasmine finally put her foot down about the wedding. Ace was a real sweetheart, and for all his playboy ways, I loved the way he treated Jasmine. I thought the ending was fantastic.

One Hot Cowboy Wedding by Carolyn Brown is book four in her Spikes & Spurs series. This is a reissue of an old favorite.

Jasmine King and Ace Riley are friends. Ace has a conundrum in his life. Jasmine proposes a solution, and the adventure begins.

Carolyn Brown proves her mettle with this excellent romance. The story and dialogue are captivating. The ending, though satisfying, is slightly drawn out. 4 out of 5 stars.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

A marriage of convenience that was supposed to stay a secret, but will it lead to love for them?
A great read.

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the fourth book in the Spikes and Spurs series. I have not read any of the other books in this series before picking up this book. I do think you can read this book as a stand alone. The beginning of this book I found to be so much fun, and it pulled me right into the story. I loved the story, and I really loved the characters in this book. The ending was just everything this book needed to wrap up the story. This story is fun and cheesy at times, but I really enjoyed it. It does get steamy at times, but I would not say this book gets super steamy. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Sourcebooks Casablanca) or author (Carolyn Brown) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I love a good friendship that turns into something more kind of romance, and One Hot Cowboy Wedding delivers… and then some. Although this book is part of a series, you won’t feel the least bit lost as it can stand on its own since anything really needed will be mentioned in either narrative or dialogue.

Ace has a problem. He didn’t realize soon enough that there was one requirement to inherit his grandfather’s ranch that he’s neglected to tend to. And not a little something that can be easily and quickly handled. No, Ace has to be married within about a week and stay married for at least a year or all that he’s worked for will be handed off to a cousin that no one would trust with a paper cup let alone a ranch. This is where friends come to the rescue when Jasmine offers to marry her best friend in Las Vegas and keep it a secret from the town gossips and their friends and family. A quick divorce at the end of the time period and all’s good; no one gets hurt, and Ace saves his ranch. Which would have worked out just fine but for one photograph that celebrated a milestone for that particular chapel. And sooner than you can say “I do” their wedding picture is blasted across the media – of course, those at home now know everything which just makes life so much more complicated for this couple… who didn’t intend to be a forever kind of couple at all.

I had such fun with this novel. Ace has his reasons for why he acts like a player, and Jasmine has her own trust issues as well. What neither expected was that spark that ignited with the now infamous kiss or the growing attraction that’s sizzling between them. The stakes just got higher for them both when love enters the arrangement. It’s not going to be a smooth road to a happy ever after for this couple; there are potholes and rough roads ahead – but watching them fall in love, and deal with all of that was a satisfying, fun, emotional experience.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent.*

One Hot Cowboy Wedding by Carolyn Brown is one of her best. I love Brown’s writing. She has such a variety of settings and characters and they all have happily-ever-afters. This one was different. It was funny. For some people it was probably laugh-out-loud but, for me, it was a chuckle here and there and a constant smile. I don’t want to discount how much I loved this book by these comments. It was a romantic comedy featuring Ace Riley and Jasmine King. They were friends. He would stop by her cafe after she closed; she’d make him a burger: and while he ate he’s tell her about his life. She’d help him solve his problems. This was a big one: his grandfather had left him the ranch. No one had mentioned the proviso that he needed to marry within two years and stay married for a year. Now he was up against it. If he didn’t find a wife he’d lose the ranch to is cousin, Cole, who had made clear he intended to sell it. Well, the decision was clear: she would marry him. They would go to Vegas. No one would know. Life would go on. Except it was the 5,000th wedding in the chapel he had chosen and TV cameras were there. National TV cameras.

Ace was a good timin’ man, although not as good timin’ as his reputation implied. He knew he had to be celibate for the year of his marriage. Jazzy was his friend. It shouldn’t be hard. Well, it was. And his resolve didn’t last too long. The world was against it. His brothers moved in for the summer so there was no place for Jazzy to sleep except with him...and he was only human. Jazzy had left a corporate career for her cafe and she wanted to keep it. She had had a bad breakup and was off men for now. Sleeping in the same bed as Ace proved to be a problem. All the funny situations they got into while pretending to be married were what made the book. They were both great characters, but so were the ranch hands, each of their families, Jazzy’s friends, and people around town. This was definitely a character driven novel and Brown came through in spades. It was thin on plot but as all romance readers know, the ending was preordained. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this book.

What’s not to love? Sexy cowboy in need of a wife to save his ranch, a beautiful BF who offers to come to his rescue. When Jasmine hears of Ace’s predicament, she proposes and they sneak off to Las Vegas to do the deed. Only it doesn’t remain a secret and the wedding makes national news. Living in a small town of a 100, there is no way not to go through the motions of being happy newlyweds. Only after that first kiss they realized there is more than just friendship.
The story is a page turner, love the story! I really enjoyed Jazzy and Ace’s story to their HEA. I did get a little lost with all the characters, but now I need to read the previous books in the series. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #OneHotCowboyWedding

To start with something I liked, the plot got going right away, it jumped off and started moving right away. I also really enjoyed the character of Jasmine. Unfortunately for me, the book kind of lost me with the character of Ace - the unabashed sower of wild oats. His transformation from ladies man to settled husband of Jasmine was just too much too quick for me. There wasn't any attempt at personal growth.

3.5/4 Stars ⭐️

This was my first Carolyn Brown romance and I found it to be an entertaining read. I’m always happy to read a small town, cowboy romance and this one hit the spot. Seeing as it was my first by this author, I think it’s part of a greater series and I may have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books first, only because there are a lot of secondary characters to keep track of. All in all a great read. TBR and Enjoy.

He's a player with a red book filled with names stars....

And that's my problem with this book. Ace and Jasmine marry in secret in Vegas so he can keep his ranch, They have been friends for a while and she offers marrigae in friendship. Only, in Vegas, it doesn't stay a secret....so they have to be married in public for a year.

What my main problem is that Ace is a player and he has a red book, one he keeps, with names and stars of all the women he's had sex with. Its immature and objectifies women by rating them and he writes it all down. Ick. Not a thing an actual adult does. Jasmine, of course, finds his book.

BLURB:
He'll do whatever it takes to get ownership of that ranch...

When our lawyer went over Gramps's will and told me that my ranch would be signed over to my no-'count cousin Cole unless I got married, I was in despair. I had a week left to get married and not even a girlfriend to propose to.

And then there's the woman he loves...

When I told Ace I'd marry him, it was just to help out an old friend. He'd have a marriage license to show his lawyer, and the time would pass the same for me whether I was married or not. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Right—unless your secret wedding is filmed and shared with the entire world.

MY REVIEW:
I had never heard of this author before and was surprised to read that this was actually the fourth book in a series.

You can read it as a standalone, that isn't an issue. What was an issue for me was the awkward writing, hence my surprise that this was actually book four and not a debut novel.

The characters lacked any chemistry and I couldn't relate at all to Ace and Jasmine.

The book was okay, the last third was pretty disappointing.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

One Hot Cowboy Wedding is a captivating story that revolves around multiple families who are all involved in the ranching business in Texas and Oklahoma. The characters are so well-developed that they feel like old friends and neighbors, making it impossible not to want to read the next book in the series. As a fan of cowboy books, I must say that Carolyn Brown is one of my favorite authors. While I love all of her works, the "Broken Roads" series holds a special place in my heart due to its unique language and romantic elements.

Ace needs to get married within a week and remain married for atleast a year, as per his grand daddy’s will else he will lose it all to his no good cousin, Cole.
Jasmine is his best friend and proposes to get married to Ace so that he can keep his ranch. Ace and Jasmine are friends and nothing more, but the minute they say I do, something changes and they are unable to keep their hands off each other. This intense attraction has Jasmine worried, how will it affect their friendship and what will happen after a year ?
This is my first book in the series and though it would have been good to have read the previous books, it didn’t take away from enjoying this one. I found Ace and Jasmine too cute and I was rooting for their HEA. Their relationship started off with friendship, and I enjoyed the fun and flirting between them, and of course the attraction. I had fun reading this book, a constant smile and I look forward to reading more in the series.

I’m in two minds about this book. I liked the small town setting and the funny incidents that happened after Ace and Jasmine’s secret wedding suddenly became public knowledge. However I didn’t realise that this was part of series. Having not read the previous books, I was a little confused by all the secondary characters and how they fit in. Also, the cover picture seems like an odd choice - it’s nothing like the description of Ace in the book.

The characters have strong Texan accents and use a lot of presumably local sayings, which made them harder for me to relate to. Jasmine and Ace are complete opposites but platonic friends at the start. Their journey from friends to romance was sweet and felt very genuine, as they were almost pushed together by the antics of their friends and family.
