I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a cute little rhyming story that points out why we should appreciate the teachers in our lives. While it's geared towards children, I think there are definitely some adults that would benefit from the lessons as well.

The rhymes in this story flowed really well, although it kind of bothered me that the fourth line in each stanza didn't rhyme. I realize that's a poetry technique, but it grated on my ears as I was reading this. There weren't really any bumpy parts in the flow of the rhymes though where a line was just a little too long for the rhyme to work right.

The illustrations in this book were fabulous. They were fun showing at least one animal child with a teacher of their own, adding in items that humanized the animals a little. I really liked the bees and bunnies. I would probably be okay reading this book several times because the rhymes flowed so well and I agree with the message. Overall I give this book 4.1 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, and the Publisher for the eARC! As a teacher, this is an adorable book and I appreciate it so so much. It was cute to see the different animals with their teacher throughout the book. I also appreciated that the book gives the message that kids have multiple teachers in their life- not just the ones at school. The rhyming throughout the book is a great way to introduce rhyming to young readers as well.

I immediately was taken away by the beautiful artwork in this book. The pages were short and to the point so that you can admire the art but not too long. I loved how it talks about all teachers, that a teacher can be someone outside of a school. For example, a dance teacher. I'm hoping it is a large book so the kids can admire the prints while the adult reads to them. I would purchase this book for my daughters if I came across it!

Having worked over the last decade in an elementary school I’m all about anything celebrating teachers. This combines rhyming and colorful animal illustrations to showcase teachers and all they do. I appreciate that in includes traditional skills like letters, numbers and reading, with interpersonal skills such as being kind. I also like the title of teachers includes coaches, mentors and other leaders. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for an eARC in exchange for a review.

As an educator, I absolutely love this book and agree 100% -- long division IS rough! This book is such a cozy yet funny read that made me feel appreciated as an educator. More than that, the book was written in a way that is perfect for younger students, filled with rhyming words and engaging texts. I will definitely be buying this book for my community helpers unit!

This is a lovely little book. It is a celebration of teachers and the importance they have on lives. It is a perfect read aloud and would make a wonderful gift to the amazing teacher in your child's life.

The illustrations are gorgeous and highlight an adult parental animal teaching and instructing their wee babies in various teaching scenarios.

"Why We Need Teachers" is written in beautiful flowing rhyme and the book's mission is to give children ( and adults ) a greater appreciation for these incredible people. I highly recommend this heartwarming book!

This story is so so cute! I teach third grade, and would love to have this book. I really liked how it mentions that some days in the classroom can be tough, acknowledging that teachers can sometimes be tough, but they help you get through hard things. I enjoyed the part about lessons on being kind. This story was very sweet, pictures were engaging, and would be enjoyable for a child (or the adult reading with them!)

Okay! Now I have end of the year teacher gifts! As a teacher myself, this one gave me some heart flutters! I feel like teaching is becoming harder and harder every year, so a little encouragement like this book will go a long ways!

What a lovely tribute to teachers and everything they do! I loved the rhyming narrative and the sweet illustrations. Teachers do a lot more than stand in front of a classroom and this cute book really highlights that!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review.

“Why We Need Teachers” by Gregory E. Lang and illustrated by Lisa Alderson would be a perfect gift for children and teachers alike. Teachers are really underappreaciated, which is amazing given their important role in societies around the world. This book explains in detail using rhymes about why teachers should be thanked for everything that they do. The illustrations are bright and beautifully accompany the text.

Why We Need Teachers by Gregory E. Lang is a cute rhyming book that you would expect to see from this series. The pictures are bright and colorful and will be a big hit with young readers. While I totally appreciate this story since I am a teacher, I am not sure if children reading it will have an interest in it. This one might be good as a gifting option perhaps.

Overall, the words are kind, the meaning is there, but I am not sure children will respect or appreciate their teachers anymore after reading this one.
