Girl Made of Glass by Shelby Leigh was okay but I didn’t love it like I like other authors in her genre. I enjoy some poems but found others confusing. Maybe it’s my season in life but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and Shelby Leigh for my e-arc copy.

I read this in about 20 minutes and I wish it didn’t come to an end. I connected with every single poem and Leigh’s words resonated with me in a way that I’ve recently been searching for

I started off bookmarking poems that I wanted to return to in future, but as I continued reading it became pointless because every poem left me with that same need to read it again and again to remind myself I’m not alone

I’m definitely looking to get my hands on a physical copy when I’m able to as this is a poetry collection I’m desperate to annotate and pour my thoughts and feelings onto the blank spaces around each poem<3

Many thanks to Netgalley, Central Avenue Publishing, and the author, for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A beautiful and honest collection of poetry, talking about heartbreak, healing, self love and growth. I loved how some of the lines were highlighted in each of the sections.

The need to fix is beautifully described with conclusion being, you don't need to, you only need to love!

Thank you to NetGalley for early access to the title in exchange for a honest review! This collection was really just what I needed to read; something I want to works towards in 2023 is treating myself with kindness and this is such an accurate portrayal of feelings and thoughts I’ve had that I wish to improve on. I also appreciated how the writer showcases that they are in the midst of their progress with self love and I just found that be really touching. A wonderful poetry collection I can’t recommend enough!!

This was very well written and tried to invoke a lot of emotions, but it ended up being bland and disconnected from me. This is for someone who loves poetry and reads a lot if it. It's not for someone dabbling into poetry. It was well written but had no emotional impact which it was trying to have.

Girl Made of Glass is a beautiful and accessible poetry collection. Aspects of mental health and grief play strongly into these poems, themes to which I relate the most. The poems were easy to read, and those new to poetry and long-life fans of poetry will appreciate that. I did find some of the poems on the longer side, but that's personal preference and it doesn't take away from the rawness of Shelby's words. Overall, this was a strong collection and I recommend it. Just be aware of TWs as some of the poems can be triggering to some. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC for my honest review.

I read this as my last book of 2022. It was the perfect way to end the year. The journey Leigh takes the reader in is beautiful, lyrical, and powerful. The

Girl Made of Glass is a short poetry collection dealing primarily with the topic of mental health, self-reflection, and learning to love yourself. I do think that the collection will find its audience and resonate with quite a few people, I'm just not sure I'm necessarily in that group.

While there are a few strong moments in the collection, overall, I found the writing to be a bit too simplistic for my liking. If you're into poems without a lot of metaphors and such, I think you may connect with the writing here and I hope it provides you some comfort in terms of mental health. The style is nice and flows well but, for the most part, it's the kind of "lowercase" minimal poetry that's quite prevalent and popular these days, and, sadly, ... I'm just not a big fan of it.

“The truth is, I don’t know who I am without these knots tightening inside me”

I loved this collection of poetry. It was so humane and we really need a lot more things like these poems in the world.

A few of the themes that are creatively explored in this collection are anxiety, insecurities and learning how to love yourself. It gave me the impression of an ordinary girls learning the ways of the world, the people in it and how to navigate her way through criticism and ideology's.

I love how Leigh portrays the way that fear and anxiety feel. As these are invisible ailments it can be hard for people to understand how they really feel but the imagery used perfectly represents how challenging these feelings can be in a way that’s so clear and understandable.

Despite touching on insecurities and feeling the need to “fix” yourself, Leigh does end the collection with learning how to accept your faults and show yourself the love you deserve.

It was such an inspiring journey and it reminded me of my own experiences from being an insecure teenager to learning how to look out for myself as an adult. I feel a lot of people would be able to relate to these poems as it speaks of such common inner-conflicts that we may be too afraid to share with others.

Leigh writes Girl Made of Glass in a beautiful yet heartbreaking tone that reflects her journey of self-love and reflection. You can see the ways in which she has worked on herself through all different stages of her life and learned to hold her grief with her joy. There are several mentions of self-harm, body dysmorphia, and mental health issues so it would be great if there was a content warning at the beginning of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has gone through a breakup or any sort of metamorphosis in their life.

Girl Made of Glass is an absolute amazing poetry collection! I connected with the poems on such a deep level and made me feel so vulnerable. There are so many beautifully raw poems that I wasn't able to put it down once I picked it up. The cover is also absolutely gorgeous and I also enjoyed the little pictures inside the book that made some of the poems stand out even more!

I loved the poetry collection by Shelby Leigh. This book has this sentiment with so many expressions by emotions, relationships and other things. Making me feel like there's a story to these poems in this book.

I was sadly disappointed with this book as I was expecting to enjoy it more than I did. I didn't feel the poems flowed well, but it had a beautiful structure. It also wasn’t clear where each poem ended and the next began. However, that could be based on it not being a final copy or that it was in ebook format.

The poems were inspiring and I can see how others might take comfort and inspiration in the authors’ words. However, I would have liked to have seen more imagery and wordplay. Overall, not an awful book, but not for me. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher, for a chance to read and review this book.

A poetry collection written in four parts, the author writes about everything from mental health, to healing, to relationships and past mistakes. The author let the reader explore the past but also leave us hopeful about the future.

I found this poetry collection to be relatable. It was written so amazingly good, and I want it engraved into my mind. The author managed to write poetry that made me tear up and smile and hope. And we need that. A lot.

If you love poetry, I’m sure you will like this one. It’s a collection I recommend.

Happy reading!♥️

First of all this cover is so cute i love the color of it with the picture. I dont read many poetry novels but sometimes they catch my eye like this one did. I loved so many of the poems in this book and usually im picky with poetry.. This was such a vulnerable piece of work and as someone who has anxiety alot of the poems really were accurate and i feel that this book has a poem for someone going through something or can relate to something they went through. Relationships, love, heartbreak, mental health, finding yourself etc this poetry novel had a poem for everything. Overall great read and i think poetry lovers will love this one.

Girl Made of Glass is a beautifully written look into mental health when dealing with issues centering around anxiety, self-esteem, and self-image. This collection is separated into four sections, each with their own distinct tone. The first section really just dives right into the fear and the anxiety; the poetry here is pretty in the way that broken glass is - beautiful to look at, but painful to experience. However, it doesn’t stay there the collection’s entirety. There’s a progression throughout the sections of being trapped inside one’s self due to overthinking, fear, anxiety, trauma, and self-esteem issues to embracing one’s self and moving forward even with those issues in tow. I really liked the hopeful tone towards the end - there are so many modern or mainstream poetry collections that focus solely on being hurt and being stuck that it’s refreshing to see this lighter shift during the last two sections. This collection is also written in a similar style to other modern poets, using a more casual structure through most of the collection and writing things that can feel both intimate and universal at the same time.

Personally, I believe I would have enjoyed this collection more had it not been in an electronic format - in the given format, the collection has been condensed so that all the pieces fit in a book that is technically less than 30 pages. I think getting rid of all the blank space between that would have been seen if formatted traditionally, which can sometimes be annoying and come off as a waste of space, didn’t really do any justice to the timing or flow of the pieces and made it more difficult for me to distinguish one piece from another. To be fair, I’m not used to reading poetry electronically like this.

An emotional, journal-like collection for readers of Amanda Lovelace. It wasn't quite the right collection for me, so it's hard to give feedback. I think many will really love this work.

Poetry like this is so important. There’s never enough ways to read about self-love and the journey to it. This collection does such a wonderful job at capturing the feelings that come with mental health struggles like anxiety and depression.
Honestly, it’s so hard to put into words how meaningful this was to read. Just seeing thoughts you’ve had during some of your darkest moments reflected back at you but with a hopeful undertone is just breathtaking. You hear so many times “it gets better” that you start to turn it out but when you read them in what feels like your own voice that is what’s truly comforting and why these verses are so powerful.
I highlighted so many lines that I’m definitely going to be getting a physical copy to reread during hard times.

Thanks to NetGalley and Central Avenue Publishing for sending me this arc!
