I'm not very sure why I didn't really like this book? I was not invested in the story. The characters seemed too dramatic and bland at the same time. I was not invested in finding out whether this man was or was not innocent. The daughter seemed...too much? I think I needed more time to develop investment in the characters, or more time to understand and synthesize the stakes.

Wow this had me so hooked from the very begging. I read this book quickly in one sitting because it was so good.

This is a DNF for me. I got through the first couple of chapters but once the chapter switched to Anthony's POV, I realized that I couldn't get into this book at all. What I did read didn't really grip me in any way, or make me want to read more.

I did not really enjoy this book. The story was a bit too outlandish for me and it was not my taste.

The opening make me shock. WHAT?!!! Story going on, the rats information irk me (ewwhh). This is unique story, tale of a sociopath, a psychopath, a disturbed, delusional mind, a serial killer who thinks he is an actor,  he stole identity change into the victim live and made throphy with name of the victim job. Murder people because his family demand it, legacy in family? Wow. Being serial killer dosnt make the "Dad" character stop falling in love with Rebecca and have daughter with her, Linda. He tried to training Linda to continue the legacy, how disturbing. Thanks god Linda have right mind. I enjoy the story, the thrill so god.

If you are looking for a twisty, dark, domestic thriller, T.M. Dunn's "Her Father's Daughter" won't disappoint, with its unique tale of an exterminator and his daughter.

Linda Donovan, the twenty-something daughter of Anthony, is struggling under the weight of family expectations. She put off going to college to help her father run his business, Donovan and Daughter Exterminators. But things are about to change. Having won a scholarship to a college in California, Linda is weeks away from moving across country from New York City to finally pursue her dream.

The timing of her imminent departure coincides with the anniversary of her mother's death, a date that her father honors annually with a visit to his wife's grave. Linda is worried about how her father will handle the business on his own without her, or even how he will manage without burning their apartment down without her. When their most important account calls for emergency service on the anniversary, her father refuses to go to work. Linda, in an effort to make sure he doesn't lose the account, goes on her own only to find a dead body, partially eaten by rats.

The presence of rats in the building doesn't speak well of the Donovan's exterminating services, but it also brings Linda back into contact with her ex-girlfriend, a homicide cop and straight into the middle of the homicide investigation.

Things get pretty dark and twisty right off the bat. It is clear from the beginning that the family has generations of abuse and horrible secrets. The characters are well-developed, even if some of them are deeply unlikable. The family business of exterminating is apt, but the history of that business is particularly chilling. The story is told from two points of view that are unique in tone. They weave through each other, ever more tightly, until the wild climax. I found, no matter how disturbing each turn was, I could not put it down.

The book is definitely dark and twisty. It is told in past and present. The present by Linda and the past by her serial killer father. Linda is wrestling with trying to figure out how to leave for college and leave her father by himself and run their extermination business. Her father is telling the past and about his serial killing ways.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

I was captivated from the very beginning and I was put on a emotional twisty rollercoaster ride the whole time thanks to the father. Thank you T.M Dunn

If you absolutely love thrillers go get this one when released.

Her Father’s Daughter is a thriller that alternates between the present and past. The present is told by Linda and the past is told by Linda’s father, Anthony. When reading the past sections, it can get pretty dark as you are reading straight from the mind of a serial killer. It was written in a way that was hard to reconcile the past sections with how well Anthony treats the people in his and his daughters lives. Linda was an interesting character who struggled with being there for her father and breaking away to lead her own life. Some of the pacing was a bit slow at time and I’m not sure this was the truest example of police procedures. The plot was interesting and I thought it was a great choice to tell some of the story from the father’s POV. Overall, it was a decent thriller but I wish we had more of the ending and less of some of the dialogue at the beginning of the book.

Chilling, and quirky, but also sweet at times and even funny. I truly enjoyed T.M. Dunn's new thriller. I was fascinated by these characters, and found myself both terrified by the events and totally engaged in the dual perspectives as they unfolded. Won't say too much, as I don't want to do anything to spoil the reader's experience of this book -- but this deep dive into a killer's mind was astonishing. Dunn is a master storyteller clearly in control of every element of the story. For thriller fans, I highly recommend!

This is going to be a short review unfortunately. I was not a fan of the writing style. Linda’s chapters were good. Her dads, I am still so confused. Was ‘Her Father’s Daughter’ terrible? No. It was mediocre. Some people may enjoy it, which the actual plot is quite good. The in between is what turned me off. I really wanted to love this book.

I am really unsure about this book. It felt a little chaotic at first and I really did not know what was going on for about half the book. When I was about 75% finished with the book, it had finally gotten to the point where I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know what happened, then I was seriously disappointed. After all that build up, it felt like the ending was rushed and left a lot of information out. You really don't find out much of a conclusion until you read the epilogue and that is being generous.

Despite reading a promising blurb, I was not impressed by this story. For me, none of the characters were likable. The father's story line dragged on and was not interesting. Linda's story line did was quicker but quite boring. If you have any issues with bugs/mice or rats I'd venture to say this read probably isn't for you, no the story does not revolve around it but it is mentioned quite a bit. The build up was slow and the ending felt rushed.

I was completely absorbed by this thriller which kept me guessing at every turn. It's a family story and there’s love and intrigue and mystery! The plot takes unexpected twists, journeys all around New York City, and yet I could follow the daughter every sad step of the way. What was most fascinating was that I couldn’t predict what was coming. The story surprised me even though it truly frightened me. A real page turner! So captivating!

This novel left me somewhat perplexed. I enjoyed the current time line written by the daughter Linda but found the past written by her father less enjoyable. It almost felt as though the author had actually used another author. I found the father's timeline stilted and lacking in interest.

The character development and premise of the story were good. I was left with a very large Why? when I finished though. I just struggled as to the motivation to the father's actions

Linda is the daughter part of Anthony Donavan and Daughter Pest control.
She goes on a job alone because her father is planning on visiting his late wife's grave.
She finds a body in the apartment that has partially been eaten by rats, and the police are called and treat it as a homicide. One of the officer's in attendance is Linda's ex girlfriend, who she still loves.
There are many family secrets that Linda is not aware of.


I cannot say I enjoyed it, the writing is weird. The character's are not believeable nor are they very likeable.
The father met a woman who has all the qualities he dislikes in women, yet he falls for her immediately and marries her. When she dies, he mourns her to the point of not caring whether he loses his livelihood. Yes, we all grieve, but life goes on.
The daughter cannot commit to a relationship and then her ex comes back into her life.

I don't like the writing style and was not 'grabbed' from the first page. I cannot even say it was a 'slow burn'. Sorry. Not my cup of tea.

With all the psychological thrillers and mysteries out there, it's hard to be original but Dunn pulls it off! This is a captivating, total escapist ride into a world that's familiar-- a family story about a daughter and her father-- and yet chillingly twisted with details about serial murders and the urgent question of who committed them. Shocking and mesmerizing, Dunn weaves details of these crimes brilliantly with the love story between Linda's mother and father. Dunn is an ingenious storyteller! And Linda is a character I cheered for. I hope she'll be in a sequel!

This book was intense and I loved every page. It kept me on my toes and guessing what was going to happen next.
It takes you into the mind of a serial killer and his daughter. I felt it was a unique and highly entertaining read!

This was a middle-of-the-road kind of experience for me. Her Father's Daughter is told from the alternating perspectives of Linda and her father (her father's chapters are in epistolary form). Her father tells the tale of how he met her mother and how their love story descended into dark territory, while Linda in the present day carries us through a murder investigation and her complicated dealings with the past. Linda's father's sections were the hardest for me to get through since they were so dialogue heavy with minimal forward movement for the most part. Linda's perspectives were much more engaging, though it took a few chapters to really get into things.

I love how dark this story became, and I think that the character development was its biggest strong point. I just wish that the execution had been more thrilling and entertaining overall.

Her Father's Daughter by T.M. Dunn is a fast-paced thriller that immediately drew me in and kept me turning pages late into the night. Populated with complex and well-developed characters, the story held my interest and kept me guessing. I enjoyed the way the author vascillated between past and present. Fascinating and disturbing, this one may haunt my thoughts for awhile!
