What a delightful chapter book for emergent readers and to read aloud. Fun characters that young people can related to (an update Frog and Toad.). Fun stories young reader/listeners can relate to. I enjoy them too!

Otis & Peanut do not shy away from complicated emotions. Feelings are not always cut and dry one-dimensional. The three stories embody ambiguity even a preschooler can fathom.

We loved the 3 short stories in Otis and Peanut! Their friendship was sweet and easy for my young child to identify with. This is a book that we will absolutely want to have a physical copy of, and hope to see more in the series!

I would like to thank Owlkids for providing me with an ARC.

I loved this book. The relationship between Otis and Peanut was fantastically written. I fell in love with both of the characters. I loved the themes and topics. It was super sweet and touching. The simple color palette was great for the stories and characters. I am looking forward to reading other works by this author.

Otis & Peanut has three great stories about friends! They would be great to help kids process their emotions, deal with loss, and overcome fears. The silly art style is also a plus!

A cute, charming and unexpectedly heartwarming graphic novel! I adore the friendship between Otis & Peanut. The color palette is simple but vibrant, while the artwork is eye-catching. Overall, it's a quick but engaging read with some emotional moments.

"Peanut, I think I'll always be a little sad. Even when I'm happy."
"It's okay to feel two things at the same time, Otis."

I received a free digital ARC from OwlKids via NetGalley. This graphic novel advertised for ages 6-8 is relatively short and has 3 stories starring 2 best friends. My son is 8 and he felt the stories were too short and he wanted the adventures to be more fun. However, he said he would read a 2nd book with the characters. The stories tackle more realistic issues and are easily relatable for young kids, but they tackle more sensitive topics rather than fantastical, funny adventures.

This was ADORABLE. I loved the friendship and the lessons in this. I loved the focus on grief in the second story! I loved that in the first story, they said you can change anything about who you are on the outside, but that still doesn't mean you're a whole new person. You can still be whoever you want to be, no matter what you do on the outside and it doesn't have to be scary to make changes! I just loved this.

Join Otis and Peanut in three short stories about how we handle change, anxiety and grief through friendship. In the first chapter, Otis expresses his anxiety about getting a haircut. Peanut listens to his concerns, but soon realizes he is craving change. The two friends work through their differing perspectives on change in a fun story. Next, Otis must navigate his feelings about grief. Although we never learn what happened to his friend Pearl, we do learn that he is missing her terribly. This chapter has important lessons about acknowledging the presence of sadness, recognizing it might not go away, but that you can also find joy at the same time. Finally, Otis and Peanut explore ideas about what makes home feel like home and discover that friendship is the key.

Bright and friendly illustrations draw the reader in. The simplified panels are great for readers just transitioning into full length graphic novels. The short and stand alone chapters will also help emerging readers build stamina. The text alternates between traditional sentences that give context and dialogue within the panels. Recommended for emerging readers interested in exploring graphic novels.
