Sweet Dreams, Lil Paw by Bruce Dierking tells the story of a Water Dog Family, and more specifically, the youngest member of the family, Lil Paw. In this beautifully illustrated and written story, Lil Paw is told daily that he must take a nap and doesn’t want to. Lil Paw wants to be like everyone else in his family, except Lil Paw is scared of the water. This is a cute story and would be perfect to read in in any setting. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This book had very few words and made me think of the See Spot Run primers. The story was different, but the language mechanics felt pretty much the same. They weren't repetitive like See Spot Run, but it had a very basic, simple word choice throughout. I would definitely use this book with a budding reader.

The illustrations had a very soft quality to them, almost like they were drawn in clouds. They seemed very fluffy and even though I'm not a dog person, they made me want to cuddle the dogs, just a little bit.

Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Sweet Dreams, Lil Paw by Bruce Dierking. My granddaughter who is two would absolutely love to read this book. She loves animals and the dogs in the story are illustrated beautifully. The words are quick and sweet. Most of the time she loves to take the book and read to herself. The words are easy to see and read especially for grandparents. Read this book you will love it.

This is a precious book that encourages children to follow their dreams no matter what challenges they need to overcome. The characters are adorable and the hopes and fears Lil Paw feels are relatable for children. Great for bedtime or a time when a child needs encouragement.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC. This is a cute story with dogs about going to sleep. A perfect read for a dog lover. I like how the book talks about service dogs and how they help people, and how the pup wants to grow up to be just like her Dad who is a service dog. Cute book for young readers!

I received an ARC, from Net Galley, of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is a very adorable book for kids aged 0-5, I'd say. I read it to my 7 year old as he enjoys dogs. My 7 year old rated it 5 stars. I found the terminology used to be below the 2nd grade reading level. The book didn't lend itself to providing any interesting facts about water dogs, like maybe how far one has swam during a mission. It would've also been nice to read that Lil overcame her fear as she got older. Due to how basic this book was written,, I believe it caters to a very young crowd.

I do recommend this book for the 0-5 population.

Lil is the youngest and smallest dog in her family. Her family is a water dog breed. This particular breed of dogs has large paws, are very strong and are used for water rescues.

Lil's paws are still small and not very powerful at all and deep down inside she is afraid of the water. But when she goes to sleep, in her dreams, she is BIG and POWERFUL and can accomplish anything. Yes! You go Lil!

The watercolour style of illustrations are beautiful and engaging. The book is short and simple and packs a punch! This is the first book in the Power Paws series and I look forward to the sequels. "Sweet Dreams, Lil Paw" would be a wonderful addition to a home collection and/or placed in a classroom or school library. It encourages a child to be a dreamer and to follow those dreams to their fruition. I highly recommend this sweet heart-warming book!

Lovely and colorful pictures

Ok, look at the cover, I could love this book just for this one picture!

This is a sweet and short illustration book about cute Lil Paw, the smallest puppy in the family who want to grow up.

Although I would have preferred never to grow up, I think it's all kid's dreams of a bright future and growing up, so don't mind me, I'm just the old one. :)

Thanks to Circle D Publishing LLC via NetGalley for ARC, I have given my honest review.

I guess it was fine! I wouldn’t pick it out to read to my nanny kids. I don’t love the idea that anything is wrong with Lil since she’s small and all her problems will be solved when she’s grown. I wish there was even a page about it being okay that she’s still little.

This book has truly lovely and sweet illustrations. Those who read this title will wish that they could bring some of these dogs home in real life.

From the title, I had thought that this was a book about getting a pup to bed. It was not though. It was more about Lil dreaming about getting bigger and being able to do all of the things that the others in his family and breed can do. Indeed this leads to sweet dreams. During the day Lil is a bit afraid but Lil Paw soars in dreams. The end emotion is that Lil will one day be an amazing dog.

This is a nice short story that is greatly enhanced by the illustrations.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Circle D Publishing, LLC for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is a lovely, uplifting story. I really appreciate how Bruce Dierking uses this story to encourage children to think about what they will do and be when they grow up. The illustrations are great. I really liked this book. Thanks #NetGalley

This book was very sweet. It's easy to get through with new readers or little ones with a short attention span. The story of Lil being the smallest in her family and dreaming of all the things she'll be able to do when she's big is relatable, but I wish it'd felt like there was more of a conclusion or takeaway at the end. It felt like it ended rather suddenly.

The illustrations are soft and lovely, and it was a pleasure to (virtually) flip through the pages.

Very cute book for children to learn about additional ways that dogs are utilized to help humans outside of K9 dogs. I could see K-2 grades using this book to discuss how dogs are part of our community, outside of being household pets. Also loved the illustrations.

A slice of positivity from the point of view of a young dog who wants to be big and strong and brave – but so far can only manage that in dreams. It's such a slight fraction of a story, and could well be beyond the target reader to transfer the lesson of this from the dog to her- or himself. As a result I cannot see this as anything like an essential purchase.

If your child is a dog-lover, then this is a must-read! It's a short story filled with super cute illustrations and perfect for a bedtime read. I like to read/review children's books because then I know if I should buy it as a gift for my nieces and nephews. I pre-ordered this one right away!!
