There’s a lot to say about this sweet little romance. A woman, the guardian of two siblings, takes on the job as manager of a rundown drive in. She runs into the neighbor, a gruff man determined to be on his own, doesn’t really make her feel welcome. Despite their initial welcome the group settles in to Blue Moon Haven. This story is a slow mover with plenty of wonderful characters to love and a sweet mature romance. It’s part of a series that’s not connected by characters or storyline but by an overall feeling of love. I read an early copy from Netgalley and have written my review voluntarily.

Kelly Jenkins has just arrived at her new job managing the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In along with the two children of her recently deceased friend of which she now has secondary custody since their father dropped them off and said he couldn’t care for them. When she gets to the drive-in all is not as advertised and Kelly and the kids have a lot of work ahead of them to make it a success as well as become the family they need. Standing in their way is Seth Morgan, the neighbor who wants to buy the drive in from Mae Bell Larkin to add the land to his orchard. Mae Bell is determined not to sell and reopen the drive-in with Kelly’s help. Never a dull moment!

Once again a beautiful story in small town USA. Definitely can be a standalone. Kelly is struggling to honor her best friend dying wish, to help take care of her two children. When their father just dumps them at her doorstep she has some tough choices to make. And taking a job at Blue Moon Drive-In with housing seems to be the answer to her prayers. But once there the place is a wreck, the neighbor scaring poor little Daisy and Todd has his issues also.
Seth has been trying to buy the abandoned drive-in for years and when a women and her two kids shows up it brings back heartbreaking memories of his little girl.
A emotional roller coaster, have tissues ready. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #BlueMoonHaven

A wonderful story of second chances and overcoming fear to commit to the life of your dreams. Seth has suffered a great loss. Kelly list her best friend and took over guardianship of 2 children so their father attempted to get his life together.

She applied for a job as manager at a drive in cinema that includes housing. Upon arrival she's stunned to find the cinema in disrepair and weeds taking over the parking lot. As she works to clean up the area she is befriended by her neighbor Seth, who's interested in the land.

As secrets are shared and their pasts revealed, they help each other heal but can they forge ahead ina new relationship? This is a feel good story you'll want to read.

Although I received a free ARC eBook all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A book that touches on grief in it's many forms, grief of losing a loved one to death and to neglect. The loss of our independence, old or young. Loss of our dreaming. And so many more. The fact thar the author was able to do this without being preachy, nor depressing is a revelation. There is sadness, hope and life in the face of said loss.
The characters are wholesome, complex, well rounded with flaws and the process from beginning to end is a seamless transition that really imitates what we would hope to happen, making this book a truly wonderful HEA book for beyond the TBR piles.
Seth, male protagonist, lost his daughter tragically and since then has turned into a hermit of sorts, incapable of feeling anything really apart from tedium. Of course, this is until he meets Daisy, Todd and Kelly.
Meanwhile Kelly is in over her head. Leaving to find a new place to settle where there can be fresh starts with fresh dreams and hopes, she finds a neglected run down drive in movie Place where she's the new Manager. This is whilst her godchildren whom are under her care after their mother's death, her best friend and their fathers leaving them in Kelly's hands, are more than a little skeptical. The children are ,understandably, traumatised and feel like the ground beneath them is unstable and Kelly, full of optimism, face and real, works hard to reform for them showing warmth and cars in even the hardest toughest moments.
It utterly broke my heart when Zane came to take the kids back, but it all works out un the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book of you hadn't noticed!
The only thing is I wish there was an epilogue. Just an end to tie it all up a little more. But that's all.
4 solid stars!

Blue Moon Haven by Janet Dailey is both a romance, and a lesson in nostalgia. Kelly was homeless and so were the two children she cared for, Todd and Daisy. They had come to Blue Moon Haven after she’d been hired to be the assistant manager at the drive-in movie there. Now she was standing in a field of weeds with two damaged screens at the end. There was a trailer on the premises but it looked a little the worse for the wear. She needed to see Mae Bell Larkin, the owner and her boss so they took off to the address she’d been given, which turned out to be an old-folks home. Mae Bell was a lovely older woman who immediately engaged Todd with her LPs, something he’d never seen before. She explained she had a budget and she could afford to renovate the drive-in, with Kelly’s help. She told her to go back to the trailer, which was better on the inside than on the outside and look for a trunk which was filled with tapes of old movies. Kelly was to watch them in order. She went all over town looking for a VCR, but mostly she got laughed at. Putting that aside, she started renovating the next morning by taking a saw to the branches that were hanging in front of the screen. That brought a response in the form of a black and white dog and it’s owner, Seth Morgan, a very hot (in both senses of the word) man who had chased Daisy back to the lot.

Seth Morgan had lost his daughter, and his wife had left him. He was in pain and had been for years. He had shut himself off from the world, working with his bees and his pecan trees, seeing no one except his sister, Tully, and generally being miserable. Daisy was so much like Rachel, the daughter he’d lost that he softened. When Tully guilted him into bringing his three neighbors over to ride out the storm and Kelly discovered he had a VCR, the game was on. As he spent time with them and watched some of Mae Bell’s movies, he began to soften. Then he got dragged into the remodel, full bore. He was a terrific character, as damaged people tend to be. Kelly had a big heart. She had taken these children when their mother died and had done her best. She had no idea where their father was. Todd was a boy genius and a handful but she loved him. The project was a big one but they got it done and so many people were interested. It was a fun story, especially for those of us who remember drive-in movies.

This book evoked both tears and smiles. It is not only about a romance, but also the formation of a family and the coming together of a community for a common cause. Seth and Kelly have suffered great personal losses in their lives that have left them heart sore and wary of new relationships. Seth lost his daughter and the his wife, so these days he stays pretty much to himself. He spends his day tending his pecan orchard, looking after his beehives and bottling honey. His constant and only companion is his dog Patch. Imagine his shock to find his peace disturbed by someone trying to cut down a tree bordered his orchard and the abandoned drive-in theatre on the neighbouring property. His meeting with Kelly and the two young kids in her care is fraught with anger and tension. He has no way of knowing then, how important these three would become in his life.

Kelly is the guardian of two young kids, Todd and Daisy, who lost their mother to cancer. Their father left them with Kelly when he was unable to to handle caring for them while in his own grief. Wanting to give the kids some stability, she accepted a job as assistant manager of the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In. The job comes with living accommodations.. Frustration, disappointment and shock overwhelm Kelly when she sees the terrible condition of the drive-in and that a trailer is the only living accommodation available. After meeting her new boss and the owner of the drive-in, Mae Bell, Kelly is determined to do the repairs and maintenance necessary to get the drive-in up and operating again. Meeting the neighbour next door is an unexpected and unpleasant experience. A couple of days later, she is surprised to have her neighbour at the door of the trailer, offering his home as refuge as a storm moves through.

From then on, the story takes a wonderful, heartwarming turn. Daily encounters lead to a friendship and eventually so much more. Seth begins to help Kelly and the kids with the mission of getting the drive-in ready to open again. In the interim, Seth and Kelly share secrets and sorrows, and build a bond between them. The children flourish under the care and attention of both Seth and Kelly. As hearts heal they also intertwine and expand.

I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a heartwarming story. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A beautifully written story of a young woman, Kelly Jenkins, who is doing the best she can to take care of herself and her best friend’s two young children. Kelly was the secondary guardian for her friend Laice’s children, Todd and Daisy. Laice’s husband couldn’t handle her death and he disappeared leaving his children with Kelly. Needing a job with more flexibility to care for Todd and Daisy, who are devastated by the death of their mother, Kelly accepts the position of assistant manager for the renovation of the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In Theater. The owner, Mae Bell Larkin is counting on Kelly to get the drive-in up and running. Seth Morgan, who owns the property next to the abandoned drive-in, had wanted to purchase the property. Eight years later, he is still struggling with the loss of his daughter and marriage. As Seth grudgingly begins helping Kelly, her upbeat and positive attitude begins to make him feel alive again, but dare he hope for a second chance at love? The story flows so smoothly as Kelly, Seth and the children resolve their issues with caring and love. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Blue Moon Haven is a newly published book by the late author Janet Dailey. It is part of the Americana series. Kelly Jenkins, although never having much in life, has taken on the care of her late best friend Laice’s children, Todd and Daisy when they were left with her by their father Zach.

Seeking a better life for the kids and herself, Kelly has moved the children from Birmingham to the small town of Blue Moon, Alabama. When Kelly first meets with her new boss, octogenarian Mae Bell Larkin in the Silver Stay Nursing Home, she is ready to turn tail and head back to Birmingham. But as they talk, Kelly becomes energized with Mae Bell’s enthusiasm and heads with the kids to the ancient Blue Moon Haven Drive-In and the Spartan Royal Mansion, a 1951 travel trailer that has been restored and revamped to make a wonderful home for the trio.

As Kelly and the kids settle in and begin the restoration of the drive-in theater, there is a particularly large pecan tree obscuring a screen. When Kelly attempts to take an axe to the tree she is accosted by the owner of the neighboring property, Seth Morgan.

At this point, this special tree, Rachel’s tree, is all he has left of his late daughter and ex wife and the life he had lived before tragedy struck. Although rather a recluse, Seth has maintained a successful pecan farm and is close to his sister, Tully Morris. With Tully’s prompting, after a very bad first impression Seth makes kind overtures in the face of a serious impending spring storm to shelter Kelly, Todd, and Daisy.

This is the beginning of a tenuous relationship that leads Seth to help with both the restoration and success of Blue Moon Haven and the restoration of his own faltering life. It is also a new beginning with propensity for a very rosy future for Kelly, Todd, and Daisy. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

This was an enjoyable, sweet story about a man who had lost his daughter in a horrible accident and a young woman who was raising her dead best friends young kids. Lots of redemption, love, and good feelings. I also teamed up a few times.

Kelly comes to town with her friends kids Todd and Daisy who she is looking after. She doesn’t have the nicest meeting with her new neighbour Seth, but it turns out there are good reasons for his reaction to them. Kelly has not had an easy time trying to bring up two children on her own, especially when one is full of attitude. Seth slowly starts to warm to his new neighbours and Todd seems to enjoy having a stable make figure in his life. They all start to become closer and Seth does everything in his power to help Kelly reopen the old drive in movie place. Seth has had his own issues to deal with which have led to him becoming quite solitary, but Kelly and the kids bring him a new lease on life.. A spanner is thrown in the works near the end, but luckily things turns out well in the end, just like the best romance movies. This was sweet and full of love.

This book was really good. I loved how the family of Janet Dailey continues her legacy by publishing her books. I had tears in my eyes with this one. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review

Such a good story. Kelly was taking care of her best friends two children after she died. Her friend's husband couldn't handle his grief and just left them with her. They moved to a small town to manager the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In. It hadn't been in operation for 10 years and was not in good repair. She thought it was a mix-up until she talked to the owner, Mae Bell., who was in a nursing home. So she and the kids started to work on it, much to the dismay of the neighbor, Seth, who wanted to buy the lot to plant more pecan trees. Their meeting was not off to a good start. It got better slowly until they realized they were in love.. The two kids had had their life ripped out from under them with their mom dying and the dad disappearing. Todd was very smart, but had a chip on his shoulder and Daisy was a sweet little girl who only whispered these days..
The descriptions of all the characters were wonderful and I could picture all of the town. I loved how close the kids got to Seth and Kelly. I shed more than a few tears when their dad showed up wanting them back. A very good story that I recommend

Blue Moon Haven, the seventh in the New Americana Series by Janet Dailey is a small town romance. The characters have all been through difficult times with Kelly and the two orphans she has adopted needing a fresh start. The drive-in job was not exactly the way Kelly thought it would be so the new beginning has problems. I thought this was a realistic look at loss and the trauma that the children would face. Kelly was friends with their mom. I admired her choosing to raise these children but also understood the problems faced.

Then there is Seth Morgan who is stuck in the past with little to look forward to each day. The drive-in is not the only thing in Blue Moon, Alabama that needs help, so does Seth but he is not open to anything but preserving the past in the beginning. Helping Kelly and her children helps him too. This is so true in life. I thought the romance develops a little fast but liked the story overall.

A positive story that shows recovery, family made, and a dream fulfilled. Blue Moon Haven is part of the series but could be read as a stand-alone. An enjoyable story of recovery, resiliency and family as much as it is a romance story.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Kelly and Seth. Kelly has moved with her best friend’s children, a boy and girl, to Seth’s hometown. Seth has a pecan orchard, that sits next door to the drive in. Kelly’s best friend died with breast cancer, she has a new job at the drive in. They have trust issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

Second chances abound in this great book. Kelly relocates to Blue Moon Haven Alabama with her best friend’s recently orphaned children where she has a job restoring and reopening the Blue Moon Haven Drive-in. The job comes with a place to live that is next door to Seth. She was hired by Mae Bell, who is a resident of the local retirement home. Join them as they each get second chances and learn that by working together you can achieve dreams. A well-written book that blends multi-generational characters to weave a great story that will keep you turning the pages until the end.

Thank you NetGalley, Janet Dailey and Kensington/Zebra for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Publication date: 4/25/2023

I like Janet Dailey books for the most part. This story started off slow for me and I was tempted to not keep reading. I will say it did improve and by the end I was interested and liked it. It definitely brought back fond memories of my family outings to the local drive in theater.
