Princess Fuzzypants here: Jade has just assumed ownership of her newly retired father’s detective agency. Her first client is a rich socialite who is looking for information in order to divorce her husband. The wife, Gina, is less than honest with Jade at first but as Jade digs deeper into the things the husband had been doing, her lies are mere pikers by comparison. This is a guy who has been draining her substantial wealth and lying and manipulating up a storm. He is aided and abetted by his best friend, who is also a piece of work.

At the same time Jade is being pursued by a blogger who is determined to dig up dirt of Gina. Whenever this woman appears, disaster follows. At least Jade’s parents, particularly her father, are supportive. He wants her to run her own show but is willing to step in when she asks for help.and as she goes deeper and deeper into the dark corners of the deceased’s life, she will need help.

I am on the fence as far as Jade’s detecting skills. She does get the job done, does not put herself in mortal danger, can handle her own protection but she seems to be a tad unprepared for her new role. Time will tell, and further stories, whether she grows into it or not. Four purrs and two paws up.

A quick and easy cozy mystery book that made me want to read more of the series. there are a lot of characters bu tthat also leads to more unpredictability. An enjoyable read.

When the women of Carlsbad are being tied up, kissed and left with a rose, they’re living in fear of what will come next from the assailant. PI Jade Cavendish finds herself as part of a group of women fighting back, since she’s a self defense teacher. Between her work investigating and the group of women, she keeps coming back around to the Amorous Assailant and finds that as a new PI, she really doesn’t have it all figured out, but she’s sure going to give it her best shot and trust her own instincts.

A good start to a new cozy series. A little odd of a fetish, but nothing that was out right horrible if you’re worried about a clean cozy. A strong female protagonist and the establishment of some solid supporting characters makes for more opportunities for mayhem and mystery in future entries of the series.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Satori and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

A bit polluted with all the suspects, one has a different time keeping track of them. The story itself fades into the background trying to keep everything straight.

Novice PI Jane Cavendish inherits the Beachtown Detective agency from her Dad after he retires. Her first case is for wealthy heiress Gina Rose, who is tired of her husband bleeding her dry. It's up to Jane to figure out how he is defrauding her. This was a pretty good mystery but confusing at times as there were so many suspects to keep track of. Thank you to netgalley and to the publisher for this advance readers copy.

This was a very interesting, and at times confusing, case. Sometimes it was hard to keep it straight in your head what was happening as it seemed nothing happened, then everything happened all at once, so you had to process a lot of information at the same time. The characters were interesting, though I’m still not clear on the progression of the amorous assailant, I.e why it progressed as it did. It was an alright story though, and killed a couple hours
