A Flicker of a Doubt is book #4 in the Fairy Garden Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber.

Courtney is busy creating fairy gardens for a charity. One of the featured artists is her best friend Meaghan’s ex-boyfriend. When he turns up dead, Courtney is drawn into the investigation.

I enjoyed this book. From the descriptions, I can easily picture the fairies. I like that Fiona has her own storyline as well as being Courtney’s fairy. The mystery was complex with a victim that had done so much damage to those around him. There ere plenty of suspects to choose from. There are recipes that look delicious at the end and I plan on trying them out. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Courtney, Brady, and Fiona.

Thank you to the author, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A Flicker of a Doubt is the simply charming 4th installment in Daryl Wood Gerber's Fairy Garden Mystery series featuring shop owner Courtney Kelly and her personal fairy, Fiona. When her best friend's ex-boyfriend is murdered on her doorstep (literally!), Courtney, with a little help from the fairy world, needs to solve the crime asap! Fun and fast-paced, it's a quick and magical read involving several recurring characters, which is always fun in a cozy series! I adored it! A+

A FLICKER OF A DOUBT by Daryl Wood Gerber
The Fourth Fairy Garden Mystery

Courtney Kelly is happy to create a series of fairy gardens for Violet Vickers who is hosting a fancy tea and art show on her estate. Unfortunately, temperamental artists take center stage when Meaghan’s ex-boyfriend returns to town as the featured artist of the show. Meaghan put the kibosh on their getting back together and then someone coshed him on the head and left him dead on her lawn. When Meaghan's business partner becomes the police's prime suspect Courtney and her righteous fairy, Fiona, will have to sort through clues and a slew of suspects to find the real killer of the mercurial artist.

The fiery temperament of artists, from art gallery owners to painters and even musicians, take center stage in the fourth Fairy Garden Mystery. Though Meaghan had a tumultuous relationship with the victim and his body was found on her property, it's her business partner who catches the eye of the police with an even better motive propelling Courtney into another murder investigation. There's a good mix of suspects including a volatile brother, another artist, and a bevy of women, all with solid motives making for a complex mystery. I love Courtney's approach to investigating. And she has a lot to investigate this go around. There are lots of red herrings to muddy the waters along with complications to her personal life as well.

It's not just the murder mystery that makes for a compelling read. We learn more about Fiona who faces some challenges of her own and see the relationship between Courtney and Brady progress. From friendships to family, human and fairy, it's the character dynamics that make this series stand out.

A FLICKER OF A DOUBT is an enchanting mystery that will captivate you with its engaging characters, well plotted murder, and fairy lore.

“A Flicker of a Doubt ” by Daryl Wood Gerber the 4th instalment in “A Fairy Garden Mystery" series. I think this was my favourite so far, I love catching up with Courtney, Fiona her righteous fairy, Joss and Meagan and Pixie. Plus I love all the recipes at the back of the book!

I found the story to be very entertaining as well as full of twists to keep you guessing till the very end. I am glad that things turned out the way they did but oh what a ride for poor Meaghan.

I’m anxiously awaiting for the next instalment as I want to know what happens to Fiona …

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

This is the fourth book in the Fairy Garden Mystery series. Even though I’ve read the prior book in the series, I was thankful for the list of characters at the front of the book because there are a lot of them to keep track of. The main character, Courtney Kelly, is my favorite. She runs a fairy garden center which sells everything customers need to build their own fairy garden and also offers classes for beginners or anyone wanting additional ideas. The parts of the book devoted to describing these gardens are my favorite part of this series. The murder mystery is also interesting with a victim who has given many people a motive to want to see him dead. Courtney sometimes comes on a little strong for an amateur sleuth, but she is persistent and good at getting information from witnesses and suspects.

The book is well-written and I appreciate the excerpts from poems about fairies at the beginning of each chapter. I like the realistic aspects of the series and also enjoy the bit of magic that the fairies bring. I was surprised at how much the fairies are involved in the investigation, but this is the perfect cozy for those who appreciate a bit of whimsy with their sleuthing.

I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley and Kensington Books, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

If you like your cozies with a side of whimsy, this is the series for you! Courtney's world includes fairies, fairy gardens, and fairy doors. It also includes other people who can or can not see fairies, and people who kill other people. The fairies provide a somewhat comic relief to the sinister plans of a few residents of Carmel, CA. And the story of Courtney's fairy, Fiona, trying to return to the good graces of the Fairy Queen, is a wonderful continuing story all on its own. So if you like murder mysteries but feel like you need a little distraction from the darkness, this series is great for that! I was disappointed in who the killer ended up being in this installment, but I guess that is just because the character was so well written that I didn't catch that they had sinister plans. I can't wait to see what is waiting for Courtney and Fiona in the next book!

Great addition to the series! This book is the best in the series so far for me; the characters are becoming more fleshed out and the mysteries are intriguing with just enough red herrings. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Carmel by the Sea sounds literally like a magical place to live. The names of the businesses even sound magical - Sweet Treats and Flair and Your Imagination Fairy Garden Shop. Courtney Kelly owns Your Imagination Fairy Garden Shop. She is getting ready to work on a large project of creating charming fairy gardens for the local theater foundation when her friend, Meaghan, bursts onto the scene. She is not happy with her ex-boyfriend, Nicolas. She laments her woes to Courtney. Later when Nicolas' body is found on Meaghan's lawn, the suspects start piling up. Daryl Wood Gerber provides plenty of suspects to choose from, some very obvious, while others are not so obvious. The characters in this book are interesting to say the least. You have Fiona the fairy who is also a sleuthing fairy. Some can see her and some cannot. I also adored the description of Pixie, the Ragdoll cat.

This cozy mystery has it all including murder, whimsical characters, cute pets, a little humor mixed in and a wonderful location to solve mysteries. You can use your imagination to enter into the quaint little community of Carmel by the Sea and enjoy witty characters all while trying to solve a mysterious death.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A Flicker of a Doubt is the fourth book in Daryl Wood Gerber's Fairy Garden Mystery series. Featuring fairies, cats, and a wonderful cast of characters, A Flicker of a Doubt is another slam dunk cozy mystery.

Courtney's fairy garden shop is booming and her fairy garden and fairy door classes are increasing in popularity. She is also busy putting together fairy gardens Violet Vickers's upcoming theater foundation tea and art show, being held at her estate. A premier event in Carmel, Courtney is shocked to learn Violet has Meaghan's ex-boyfriend as her spotlight artist. He's argumentative and hotheaded with everyone he comes into contact with since coming back to town. After a heated argument with Meaghan in front of several witnesses, Nicolas is found dead in Meaghan's front yard.

This is a very unique story with unique elements. I enjoyed the fairy garden shop setting, complete with a live fairy. The characters are fun and exciting. I enjoyed Courtney's character. Her business is successful and thriving. She cares about her friends and citizens in Carmel-by-the-Sea and makes it her mission to help the accused in A Flicker of a Doubt. The author delivers several suspects with means and motive, and figuring out who committed the crime was difficult. There are twists and turns and red herrings, and while I may have suspected who committed the crime, I never was really sure until the end.

When Meaghan's abusive ex is found murdered, Courtney and her fairy Fiona (yes, her fairy) spin into action to find the real murderer because it wasn't Meaghan or her current beau. In many ways this is classic cozy territory except that there are...fairies. Fiona and the others make this series the joy that it is but it never gets woo woo. Those who have been reading along will be pleased to see Fiona improving relations with the Fairy Queen (there's some fairy drama here). Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier books- this will be fine as a standalone. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Give it a chance and it will enchant you.

This series by Daryl Wood Gerber just keeps getting better. The people populating the area around Courtney's Fairy Garden store, that we've met before, are still just as they ever were...quirky and in everyone's business. I loved that we got to see more of the romantic interest between Courtney and Brady.

Of course, this series wouldn't be what it is without the Faeries! Fiona is Courtney's fairy and helps her delve into murders that happen in charming Carmel-by-the-Sea. I love that we keep getting more background on Fiona and her family. Some people can see fairies. Some cannot. They are there though!
.
As with the other stories in this series, we have a not very nice person get murdered. This time, there were MANY people who didn't like him, so lots of suspects!! On top of this is a second murder...the brother of the first man murdered! Was it the same person who did both dastardly deeds, or is there a serial killer on the loose? As usual, Courtney is able to put clues together to help the local police department, although they aren't very happy when she points out things they just didn't think of.

Another whimsical and fun book by Ms. Gerber. Can't wait for the next!

A Flicker of A Doubt is the latest book in the delightful Fairy Garden mystery series. Courtney is once again thrown into the middle of a murder investigation. This time it’s due to Courtney’s best friend’s business partner being accused of murdering Meghan’s ex-boyfriend. Everyone who knows him knows he wouldn’t have murdered anyone. So, much to her dad’s and the police chief’s dismay, Courtney hunts down the clues needed to get the accused released from jail.

One of my favorite parts of this series is the charming setting. Though I’ve never been to Carmel, California, I’ve dreamed of visiting. Just do a Pinterest or Google search for the town, and I think you’ll find it just as enchanting as I do. If you have been there, I’m very jealous! Open Your Imagination, Courtney’s fairy garden shop, fits perfectly in this charming village.

Daryl Wood Gerber brings the characters to life with her ability to write relatable characters. You might not relate to the younger Courtney, but there’s always one character that I “bond” with in the books. Now, I certainly don’t have the money that Violet Vickers, patron of the arts, has, but her lively and energetic personality reminds me of how my grandma was at that age. So, if I could be a character in this book, I’d be Violet. I also love Courtney’s neighbor along with her neighbor’s sisters. I’ve got two sisters, so I love reading how these three interact with each other. Then, of course, there are the fairies! I love seeing Courtney’s fairy become more mature as the books progress. This is one reason I always recommend reading the series in order. You can enjoy them totally on their own, but seeing how the characters change throughout the books makes them all the more enjoyable.

A Flicker of a Doubt has lots of twists and turns to follow as you work on solving the mystery along with Courtney. I’ll admit, I changed my mind a few times as to whodunit, but eventually I figured out who the murderer was.

I highly recommend A Flicker of a Doubt by Daryl Wood Gerber. It’s a magically enchanting cozy mystery with a charming setting, a variety of well-written characters, and a twisty mystery to solve. I’m excited to read the next book!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

A fun enough cozy with fairy magic. Not really a theme I favor as fairies are not really my thing. I found Courtney to be an enjoyable main character, but didn't make much connection with other characters and there did seem to be a lot of small ones that make up the town. I assumed that they played parts in the previous titles in the series.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it enough to make me look out for more of her work.

A Flicker of a Doubt is set in a town where fairies are a normal way of life especially to those people who really believe and can actually see them. Others want to see them and occasionally see a flicker out of the corner of their eyes. Still others think it is all nonsense.

Courtney Kelly believes. She runs a business making fairy gardens and she has a fairy of her own called Fiona. When a murder occurs and her friend is a suspect Courtney begins her own investigation. There were all the numerous suspects and red herrings followed by a dramatic conclusion that make for a good cosy read.

A query - why would Fiona not be used to eavesdrop on suspects to help Courtney in her investigation? Is there some fact I am missing by not having read the three previous books?

Courtney is the owner of a fairy-gardening/tea shop in picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea. She also can see fairies around her. One fairy in particular, Fiona, is tasked with helping Courtney with any issues in her life. In A Flicker of a Doubt, Fiona’s story is told, and it is fascinating! But more than just the fairy world is within the book’s covers. Courtney’s best friend, Meaghan, is having issues with two ex-boyfriends, who are also local artists. When one is killed, Courtney, with Fiona’s help, steps in to help.

I really enjoyed the expansion of the fairy world’s rules and relationships that are explored in this book. Fiona is the most intriguing character and many of her secrets are revealed here. The mystery and the human relationships also kept my interest. Plus, I really appreciate all the gluten free sweet treats in the back of the book! Overall, A Flicker of a Doubt is an enchantingly whimsical cozy mystery perfect for fantasy fans. 4 stars!

Thanks to Kensington Books, Great Escapes Book Tours and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.

Another good mystery in this series. Courtney is busy creating fairy gardens for a fund raiser, running her business and giving classes. Meghan, Courtney's best friend, is trying to tell her ex-boyfriend that she wants nothing more to do with him and he really doesn't listen. There are rumors that she is not the only woman he has been with. When he turns up dead in her front yard, her business partner is blamed. Courtney will do whatever she can to clear his name. Can she do it?

A Flicker of Doubt by Daryl Wood Gerber is the fourth installment of the Fairy Garden Mystery series set in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. We are once again following Courtney Kelly owner Open Your Imagination, a fairy garden shop and her fairy Fiona. Even though there's a touch of magic and whimsy with the fairies in the book the characters and plot are still realistic.
This book is set around the death of a famous artist found at Courtney's best friend Meghan's house. One of Courtney's friends is arrested for the crime and she does everything she can to find the real killer.
The victim has many jilted lovers and enemies so Courtney has her hands full. She's also preparing for a celebrity studded fundraiser and dealing with her boyfriend's ex-wife and her famous actor husband being in town for the event. Fiona also has her continued story line of gaining her wings and we find out a lot more about her past in this installment.
I loved this book and I adore this series! I also love how the book club in the story featured another one of my favourite cozy books - authors supporting authors! Magical, exciting, with a bit of romance - 5 stars!

Courtney returns in a new tale with lots of action. Set in the cozy, coastal town of Carmel, California, Courtney’s fairy garden shop is of fun activities. When her friend Meaghan’s ex-boyfriend returns, she’s concerned. When he turns up dead in Meaghan’s backyard, Courtney is on the case along with the help from her fairy, Fiona. Fiona may just be my favorite character in this series. Lots of action and the ending is incredible. Go, Fiona.

Whimsical Culinary Cozy
Ms. Gerber’s tale of fairies and murder is intriguing.
Courtney’s business of plants and fairy gardens draws many customers in their artistic community. Some can see the fairies, but not all believe. When a local artist is murdered and her friend is a suspect, she snoops, with the aid of her little fairy friend to find out what happened.
Ms. Gerber adds humor and romance to round out the tale. I enjoyed it and would recommend to those who enjoy a little whimsy.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse gratis and offer my opinion in the same.
